Every now and then I remember what RTD did to Belinda Chandra and I just.
Like. Seriously. You have a companion who's been introduced as a strong-willed woman who is willing to call the Doctor out and challenge him on his bullshit. There's the potential of a series-long arc where she slowly learns to trust him and starts to enjoy traveling on the TARDIS.
Instead, she loses all traces of her original personality within three episodes, the showrunner doesn't even bother giving his guest writers any information about her, essentially forcing them to write her as a generic companion because they don't know who she is, and in the most staggering display of what the actual fuck, Russell, is locked in a box for a huge chunk of the finale and finally gets her entire life rewritten to revolve around a baby that didn't exist until the previous episode, and this is presented as a good thing.
society if the power of the doctor was a proper body swap episode
I really love the wilderness years of Doctor Who. I think from now on when shows get canceled more companies should throw their content to the wolves and watch in horror as the starved fan base go insane and write like a thousand books in five years that irreversibly ruin any semblance of canon, and also make zero sense.

"Prosper Faggot"? Bitch, I'm trying to!
Moomin enjoyers could get so much more out of the stories if everyone stopped cutesy-fying them so much. This is something I have a strong opinion on. Everyone seems to focus on "aw fluffy little nice creatures" and "Moomin and Snufkin are in love" which YES they are. Obviously. All of that is true.
But the original Moomin stories are undeniably dark. They're often about being sad and depressed and so, so lonely, about looking for a home, about never feeling fully understood, about growing up and having flawed parents. About never being fully able to understand some people. Moominpappa at Sea, the whole Groke situation, Moominland Midwinter, the last few Moomin books in general. The Hattifattener's whole deal. Their world is full of sad and strange things. It's just also about seeing the fun and feeling love in a world like that.
I think the average Tumblr user would love the Moomins even more if everyone stopped pretending that they're Disney-type creatures, and instead embrace the incredible Finland-Swedish weirdness. Tumblr I know you love weird stuff! Get into the strange side of the Moomins!
Also Tove Jansson would be on my side here. She was so annoyed by the Moomins getting commercialised and twisted by everyone. I enjoy a pretty Arabia Moomin mug as much as the next person. I love the wholesomeness of these stories, too, and I don't want to tell you how to enjoy these books. Keep a place in your heart for the darkness in these stories, is what I'm saying. You might love them even more if you do that.
I remember one of the books, Comet in Moominland, was about a giant meteor coming to kill everyone and trying to prepare for certain doom. I was like "Damn, this is heavy, I wonder what inspired this??" It was published in 1946, shortly after the invention of the nuclear bomb, so I do wonder if that's the connection. I actually thought it was published later during the Cold War because the book would be very relatable to anyone who did bomb drills hiding under their school desks.

awww the like button turns into a rainbow when you press it! that's so cute...hey staff what's with all the trans women you keep nuking?
i think we should be ridiculing them more for this. you don't get to try and go all "queer website" when your staff likes to go on nuking sprees targeting the trans fem users
would be remiss not to mention that the rainbow notably straight up just removed the trans flag colors from it. like they’re gone. it’s the progress flag minus the trans flag colors.
that’s not the whole flag, now is it
hey staff what the fuck
