Lightspace

Lightweight fabric. The lightweight fabric work, performed by Ivan Juarez Mexican architect of x-studio, is to initiate a dialogue with the surrounding natural landscape of Bahia, from the creation of a light thought through the exploration of a local technical craft of textile materials used raw coconut tree leaves obtained in the same island. An interior space for personal reflection, which creates a visual dialogue between the inside and the outside landscape that borders. From the inside, the framed piece and suggests the landscape, creating a natural embroidery highlights and shadows. The limit is defined by a green skin that acts as a filter a large lattice, sieving, and fragments shadows light beams. Throughout the day, your outward appearance varies in different shades and reflections and dusk, the light dilutes its apparent solidity, becoming a framework that illuminates from within and that blends with the landscape itself.

Liquid Space

Developed by british designer Ross Lovegrove in collaboration with czech glass and crystal producers lasvit, 'liquidkristal' is a high precision heat transfer process of creating organic-like glass panels, developed towards the innovative use of the material in large-scale architectural installations.

The project was to highlight the reflective qualities of the material. the panels themselves are smooth on their exterior, while the inner surface follows a valley of dips and pockets, which is what causes the fascinating play of light on objects visualized through the panels from any angle.

Colorful place

Daniel Buren creates a temporary, site-specific installation to fill the interior of the expansive glass-domed hall, a colorful reinterpretation of this major public space.

At the center of the space of the Grand Palais, in a clearing of 900 meters, fifteen mirrors installed on the ground, catch the light and reflect the sky, and fragments of colored circles.

"Le Grand Palais, pour moi c'est comme un grand espace public,[...] qui on doit fermer comme peut etre un musée. Evidemment l'une des manieres de capter cette lumiére, pour pouvoir la voir vreiment, c'est de la filtrer avec de la couleur"

Two sides words

The objects created by Iván Navarro are concrete, physical and rough, yet, simultaneously unreal, illusory and incomplete. An absurd dichotomy.

The seemingly endless depths of the wells and the words written by neon installations see their physical realization only through the illusion of transparent mirrors. These balances are invisible and fragile expression of emptiness, everyday, we try to fill.

As the viewer looks down into the drum of unpeeled 'echo 1 (cherry)', resting upon the gallery floor, he / she is Able to peer through to PRECISELY-Positioned one-way mirrors in order to see the word 'eco' scrawled in bright lighting-tube material. Due to the interaction of the see-through mirrors, an illusion is created as the word Seems to be Multiplied in an endlessly echoed a descent into darkness.

The feeling that remains is to dive into the depths of our dark and claustrophobic and consciences of our past.

Space for thoughts

A temporary space thought for Ground Zero that is inspired, on one hand, by the most traditional shelter in America: the tipi, a conical  tent used by the nomadic tribes and sedentary tribal Native American. And on the other hand, its structure is inspired by the cable structure from the most symbolic NY suspension bridge: the Brooklyn bridge.

This two elements: the crane and the cone sewing shelter, will create a semi transparent space that will be generated through the light. A space delimited by multiple white cordages that, throughout the day, will vary through the different light reflections. A symbolic space, as a passable vertical sculpture, that consists on sewing the space to the supporting element through an artisan process, creating a vertical woven textile where the inner and the outer will be diluted suggesting the space and dialoguing with the nature.

A place where man can reflect, where shadows delineate always a different perception of space. An intersections between architecture and sculpture with  increasing overlaps in references, materials, and building techniques between the two disciplines.

A stair to a new world

Influenced by Jorge Luis Borges and magical realism, Erlich masterfully dissects specific components of our reality, turning the ordinary into the bizarre and unsettling.

Window and Ladder, like so many of my works, presents an impossible situation.

apartment pinhole camera

the 'stenop.es' project converts apartment buildings into camera obscura; here the view of the city of pushkar, india is cast upon a bedroom wall the photograph has been rotated 180° to show the city imagery right-side up, since as with all pinhole cameras it is reflected onto the wall upside down the 'stenop.es' project by french photographers  romain alary and antoine levi effectively transforms apartment rooms into pinhole cameras, merging outdoor and indoor landscapes as the view outside is cast (upside down) upon interior walls.

to achieve the effect, the photographers darken the entire apartment, blocking all light from windows save for a small hole that lets a beam of light enter. rather than the image being captured onto photographic paper in the apartment, the artists instead capture the resulting imagery with stationary DSLR cameras focused on the wall. this perspective permits the striking meshing of ordinary household objects with the edifices and landforms outside.

Light for space

Yari Honey is interested in phenomena such as fluorescence, catarifrangenza and light in general, considered in all its possible forms. Due to the alternation of the two conditions, light and darkness will prove to be the protagonists of the scene, the first elements of the work, which is based on very solid structures form and substance with living in the shadows and shadow though space with light.

A cut to create

The artist Gordon Matta-Clark* used neglected structures slated for demolition as his raw material. He carved out sections of buildings with a power saw in order to reveal their hidden construction, to provide new ways of perceiving space, and to create metaphors for the human condition. He spoke of his work as an activity that attempted “to transform place into a state of mind by opening walls.” Gordon loves the archeological quality of his work. He views the layers of linoleum, plaster lath and beams as historical excavations. Gordon cut through the urban landscape. The cultural information of the moldings, doors, windows and wallpaper that Matta-Clark incorporated into his pieces led to add narration, images and color to my architectural forms and spaces.In this work, through a portion of almost two-dimensional, is able to reveal a whole world in his everyday life and in a perspective quite different.

A small world

The work consists of three concentric igloos, glass, bordered by loaves of crude clay figures, and neon. The numbers that can be seen phosphorescent rappresentantano the Fibonacci sequence which regulates the relationship harmony, and is the circular thinking in perfect balance. For Merz, representative figure of Arte Povera, the igloo is both "small world and home," place cosmological and the personal, physical and mental is a circular thinking where energy and space are in perfect balance and related the surrounding context. The dwelling has been chosen by him as the theme for its essential characteristics: it is a simple architecture, self-supporting.

Frames on the space

The work consists of 18 silver rings located at equal distances, one behind the other along the quay. "Les anneaux"* is a work that is part of an environment steeped in history, past and future: this is where the great naval adventure of the city took place, it is here that is developing today one of the greatest architectural and urban projects in Europe. recognizable, simple, minimal, Daniel Buren** fate that ground - where everything is variable and invariable lives around - the street: his works become "tools to see". Rings is part of this lineage. At the very end of the “Île de Nantes” (Island of Nantes), Daniel Buren has discovered a double view naturally presenting itself to the walker. The architectural one, drawn by the dock, is going straight along the warehouses. But the eye-catching one, is the “natural” view, the Loire which, at this place widely opens on the estuary. Together with his accomplice the architect Patrick Bouchain***, the artist suggests to punctuate the dock with a set of rings which, slightly placed slantwise, present a cut-out of the sky and of earth, a view point focussed on natural perspective. The landscape shows itself in clean circles. Thus, the work is introduced in the course, punctuated with 18 rings, the outer edges of which are made up of a set of vertical stripes: white, black or coloured, the artist’s signature. At night the rings will be encircled with illuminated halos: red, blue, green, changing again space perception.

"Coming here, I soon perceived that this tour offered a new perspective on the urban landscape and playing with the series, fractionation, we could design something around the frame, the frame that carve up the space in different plots. The idea of ​​these eighteen rings aligned to the estuary on a perfectly straight line of 800 meters has quickly established itself. A place of light

Navid Nuur* created a skeletal installation of wires, metal piping and neon lights. Navid is interesting in how to freeze the creative process and has captured this in his works for the Biennale through his use skeletal framework and draped  plastic sheeting for one. In this large tent with tubes and neon, the artist builds a den of great visual impact. The light born and it seems to  having to destroy the original envelope for emerge.It is a place where they permeate in and out of sight but remain distinct. The temptation watching the work is to want to come inside the tent, though the neon lights, placed very close to the floor, would not make a great living. The light, it is fully the work star explodes outward, shattering.

Enter the largest outdoor living room in Switzerland. This art object transformed the «Bleicheli-Quartier» into a playful relaxation and business oasis, accessible round the clock. It invites you to pass the time and offers you space for encounters. Just like in a lounge, a red carpet is spread out with hanging, swinging lights above it, which bathe the quarter in a diverse discretely changing lighting atmosphere.The project turns the common notion of public space, often limited to the categories of road, square or park, confusing it with a uniform coating. The amorphous silhouette contrasts sharply with the hard precision of the surrounding buildings. The carpet creates the illusion of a living room, which transmits its domestic atmosphere to neighboring buildings. The relationship between interior and exterior looks so reversed: the facades of the buildings become interior walls, the upholstery of your stay.

A parallel word of experiences

Eliasson* created a sequence of spaces** filled with natural materials including water, fog, earth, wood, fungus and duckweed. During their journey through the exhibition, visitors were confronted by a variety of sensory experiences – sights, smells, and textures – which had been precisely articulated by the artist. Eliasson also modified the dominant orthogonal character of the building, including the insertion of a subtly slanting floor, which made visitors become more conscious of the act of movement through space. In the space characterized by the fog, all our senses are altered, and the perception of space and time change completely. This creates a parallel world in which our actions are performed differently than usual, and the visitor is led to think more about what is and gestures he makes.

New worlds

The work of the great street artist Edgar Mueller*  is a big chasm that catapulted directly in a valley in Austria. Make no mistake, however, has not yet been invented teleportation nor was discovered a Stargate. The only illusion contemplated in this case is the optical one, since it is a beautiful work of 3D street painting. 

This work, the first in Italy, covers an area of 40 square meters and uses the technique of trompe l'oeil (literally "deceives the eye"), a technique painting already in use in ancient Greece and Rome, which consists of painting a apparently real background of a wall to make it disappear from view.
