Today Makai took 2nd Place 🥈 in the Level 7: Corpus Christi February Open| Singles Only - Boys' 14-Under. His matches went with a 5-7 in a tie-break loss to the eventual tournament winner, 6-0 win, 6-3 win, and 6-0 win to finish the night. He played smart and with the usual grit and enthusiasm we expect. The highlight was when his opponent fell and apparently injured his leg, Makai instantly put his racket down and went to make sure he was okay. It was a classy move and not something I expected, but did not surprise me either. His opponent was able to walk it off and they completed the match. This will be filled with a nice bourbon 🥃. It is a gift from my Mom for my birthday. On one side It says "Hau'oli La Hanau” or “Happy Birthday.” The other side says “Hau'Oli Maoli Oe” which translates into “Cheers.” It did come with a bottle of Eagle Rare but my daughter accidentally kicked it over and it busted all over the floor 😆. I told her when she turns 21 she can buy me the same bottle.
