curtis & shiro headcanons
curtis plays d&d and, regrettably, had an anime phase
his favorite color is orange
he can draw, and is often times found with the atlas, voltron, and on occasion, allura tributes in his sketchbook.
curtis was very flustered when he had personal interactions with shiro
he asked him to coffee, because he thinks he’s really brave and it’d be nice to get to know him outside of a professional atmosphere
when curtis has the chance to do so, he learns all sorts of interests shiro has, and begins drawing them on the sleeves of shiro’s coffee cups
they meet for coffee once a week, and once they get closer, it becomes a place for shiro to rant and let out all of his anxiety
curtis is really supportive and always treats shiro kindly, but he never babies him (that doesn’t stop him from worrying and trying to keep him out of trouble)
with the repercussions of the war, they both try to stay away from the news for a while. they assist with rebuilding and talking to grieving families, but once they’re home, curtis keeps the topic out of sight
they don’t ever really move in together, but curtis mostly spends his time at shiro’s place
curtis still has his own place and his bigger belongings are there, but he has three clothing drawers and a few shelves with his stuff on it at shiro’s
they don’t pay for cable, only netflix and hulu. cable has the news, and shiro habitually goes to watch it.
shiro keeps all of the coffee cup sleeves curtis draws on, all in a little locked box. curtis thinks it’s adorable, and they make sure to keep going out every week, even if they get busy schedules.
curtis always tries to screw around with cooking and shiro helps on occasion, and they make hunk taste whatever they made. he acts like he likes it and then tries to give them tips because it’s disgusting.
shiro and curtis aren’t very handsy in public (only cheek kisses and brief hand-holding) but in private, they cuddle up and their hands roam
when it comes to sex, curtis tops
curtis loves horror books, and he tries to act tough when watching horror movies, but he’s secretly terrified
curtis wears contacts, because he thinks he looks weird in glasses, but shiro gets to see it in the early mornings before he’s fully ready
curtis has got a happy family (mom & dad, sister)
he was originally from southern california and had an unpaid internship after college, but was offered a good job @ the garrison
after everything settles down, curtis and shiro rescue animals, rehabilitate them, and then find them a forever home.
curtis had a dog (german shephard) he lost in the war, and shiro got him a new one after they got together
they try to keep the war behind them, but shiro’s PTSD is a constant. curtis is there to support him, and he knows how to help him when he has nightmares or panic attacks.
shiro’s mental health is pretty decent, and panic attacks aren’t common, but he does have significant anxiety and the nightmares are more present than anything else
shiro entertains curtis’ occasional ‘anime relapse’
the former paladins adore curtis, but keith is curtis’ favorite (they had tension, at first)
keith was worried curtis would take shiro out of his life, but curtis ended up being a really nice guy and they became close.
sometimes the spot where shiro’s new arm is attached gets sore, and curtis sits and talks with him while he either takes a bath and soaks it or he gives him a massage
they decide they shouldn’t have kids until shiro’s mental health improves and they settle down properly
they’re given a house as a tribute to their efforts in the war, as shiro was a paladin and they both worked on the atlas. (other paladins were given places as well)
they decorate very neutrally, lots of soft yellows and greys.
they don’t pay for the house, but they pay for groceries and other bills, as well as clothing, so they both have jobs. shiro works at a small library, where he and curtis sometimes spend the evening if he gets permission, and curtis works as a party planner.
a few years after they got married, they adopt a little girl, and she loves her dads more than anything in the world. lance is her favorite ‘uncle’
they name her delilah ‘lily’, despite shiro’s minor urge to call her allura. they decide not to ‘burden’ her with a name like that- they know it can be full of pressure
in the beginning, they fight over who gets to go on field-trips with her, but eventually begin fighting about who doesn’t have to go (she gets excited and always wants something from the shop- they don’t like saying no)
curtis and shiro like writing little stories for delilah together, but eventually it becomes more serious and shiro is writing kids books that are to be published, and curtis is illustrating for him
curtis teaches delilah how to draw as she gets older, and shiro always makes sure she keeps her grammar and spelling straight (not in an annoying way, but a fatherly one)
lance takes delilah shopping, pidge teaches her things she probably shouldn’t know, hunk helps her cook so her disastrous chefs of fathers don’t have to, and keith is the self-defense guy.
when delilah hits seven, shiro and curtis are informed that there’s a little boy available and they were chosen
