Maori Moko face tattoos - Moko is a name for Maori tattoo and the culture that surrounds it. It is the skin art form of the Maori. The head is believed to be the most sacred part of the body. To wear the moko on the face is to bear an undeniable declaration of who you are.

Getting into the #Christmas spirit Pacific-style - this is how we do it in the Southern Hemisphere. An icy cold beer and fresh-catch seafood served up with homemade love and care at #TheBeachHut, off the highway, #Punakaiki. Owner/chef/storyteller/extraordinaire Riarnne let me jump behind the counter while Maori tunes played on the radio and we chatted while she was in the kitchen. She grew up here, and after travelling overseas came back to this place, living off what the land provides: my salad was completely homegrown. Opposite us, wild beach and river for as far as you can see. Best lunch I’ve had in yonks. @curioustalesbooks this is for Small Fry, who struggles to believe we spend Christmas on the beach (but still love a good bit of festive bunting!)
