you know what actually im done being all nice about it. fuck the duffer brothers. fuck netflix. you had the opportunity to do something incredible for the queer community and instead you diminished and sidelined queer characters and storylines when you claimed everything would be resolved. you used the feelings of a queer character as development to benefit a cishet relationship. you wrote an extremely tone-deaf and borderline homophobic coming out scene which compared two completely different characters purely because they were both the love interests of a queer person – essentially boiling down every queer journey to the same thing despite being vastly different. you gave the queer character who has been through hell and back a lazy epilogue boyfriend after getting over his lifelong love in a single day. and you got away with it. you got away with it because its a queer storyline. so yeah, fuck you. you ruined what the show was supposed to be about. you forgot who the real audience was.

theres an extremely subtle tragedy going on beneath the obvious tragedy during the whole “amber dies” arc

i remember watching wilson curled up next to her during her final moments, getting really emotional and all that when i suddenly realized

“wait, wheres her family?”

she is literally DYING. if her parents or siblings or whoever else couldnt arrive on time due to travel, youd think there’d be some mention of that. but no. seemingly, she doesnt even think about them—theyre just not a factor at all.

it makes you realize how alone she’s been. she only really has wilson. the others she met during the survivor-style job “interview” barely saw her as a friend.

also makes you wonder what the hell did her parents do for them to be so Out of her life, theyre not even mentioned on her deathbed.

started school again this week and all i can think about is amber volakis

just thinking about how good amber really was for wilson.

like, when they first introduce that they're dating, everybody's worried that she'll manipulate him. that she'll hurt him. that she'll take advantage of him. that she'll be bad for him and cause him so much pain.

but she's the opposite.

she forces wilson to choose himself. makes him confront his own wants and desires instead of catering to someone he thinks he has some kind of duty to. she lets him be who he is.

and when she dies, he's so devastated. because this is the one person who truly sees the lengths his people pleasing goes to and does something about it.

she does something when she could've easily taken advantage of him like everyone else. could've used that knowledge and let him dedicate his time and money and resources to her. but she didn't.

she did the exact opposite of what every single person thought she'd do.
