i waited like a full week this time ???? my self control is back ( no it’s not )
( samuel larsen / cismale / he/him ) the paparazzi have spotted RORY CALDERON, the TWENTY-FIVE year old ACTOR who’s currently working as JARED MOORE on DO YOU BELIEVE IN MAGIC?. the tabloids have called them CHARISMATIC and TENACIOUS, but also OBSTINATE and RETICENT. during their time in the spotlight, they’ve been dubbed the DILIGENT.
so rory here grew up in beverly hills with his one older brother and three younger siblings
his parents were big on the hollywood scene ( producers mainly but his dad has directed a few pictures )
they were also big on holding their money over their kids’ heads
they used their money to control them, and unfortunately most kids took the bait - rory included for the first part of his life
rory always hated how he was around his family, as they and the money brought out the worst in him
after he graduated high school he cut himself off from them completely, having earned a full scholarship to columbia university on his own merits
nyc was a lot different compared to la ( but in a good way ) and rory considers himself an east coast boy regardless of his upbringing
to help pay for his cost of living while he was in school he worked as a cater waiter and also worked at columbia’s admissions office
once he turned 21 he started bartending, which was a lot more lucrative ( especially since he was so charming and got gr8 tips
once he graduated he got a job teaching english in a high school ( that’s what he went to school for btw secondary education w a focus on english )
he was teaching for about two years when a student started discreetly taking pictures of him during class and posting them on snapchat and twitter
( he’s like an insanely pretty teacher ok )
so boy went viral lmao and he wasn’t on social media at all so he had no idea ?????
and then he got a call from a casting director asking him to come read for a role for a new show they were casting for and he thought it was a prank call lmao and he’s like ‘i have like a hundred papers to grade and grad school and i’m bartending all weekend to pay the bills so no ????’
and then the casting director actually flew out to new york to get him to come in and read
rory was reluctant at first bc he left the west coast and the industry behind him when he cut himself off from his family but the casting director was v insistent
so he came in and read and booked the role
he was given permission to finish out the year with his students and then said goodbye, but he didn’t think the show would get picked up or last past the first season lmao but ayyy they got renewed for season two !!!
during the off season he teaches summer school courses and esl classes ( he speaks fluent spanish as well )
he keeps a very small portion of his paychecks -- enough to pay his rent and bills and buy food u know -- and the rest goes to charity
he’s a big advocate for tfa and bbbs and other various charities
uhhhh he still hasn’t contacted his family even tho he’s in the same county as them
if u see him around set during a break from filming he’s probably reading tbh ( he fuckin loves books )
he also wants to finish grad school bc that was his goal before hollywood came calling
