I’m kinda curious, but why do some people baby Mephisto for his actions, while bash the crap out of Praxina? (Same could be said about Lev his actions are brushed off even in the series itself.)
Alot of the stuff Praxina has done Mephisto was apart of it or atleast contributed in some way or another. I get that Mephisto seems more aware of his actions and maybe even guilty for his actions(Helped Iris against the dino monster that HE and his sister made, gave Carissa back the necklace to destone that one girl and afew other things). But you notice how a lot of what he does connects with protecting or saving praxina instead of genuine sincerity? Like let’s be honest. would he have helped in those cases if Praxina wasn’t at risk or involved?
“What about the finale where he seemed worried about what Gramorr was doing to the princesses?” Let’s look back to when he was doing a similar thing to Iris and the people she cared about in the “Princess Brenda” episode, when was his guilt then? There was no hesitation or a hint of empathy when he and Praxina were attacking and crystalizing everyone for enternity on earth. Was it on the same level of Gramorr beating the princess up like ragdolls? No not really. But the twins whole mission was either to defeat and destroy the princesses so why would he be suprised when Gramorr decides to do it himself? In short, Mephisto was fearful of Gramorr more than he already was before, because he was more powerful than ever, so any mistake could cost his and his sisters lives, no more empty threats, Gramorr was no longer restricted to castle. He was already looking scared as soon as Gramorr obtained the power of the crown before he even attacked the princesses. He was worried for himself.
“What about the time he said he’d be honored to serve Iris if he wasn’t already working for Gramorr!” so what? Praxina basically implied a similar thing in the episode “Forget you” Where she tells Mephisto she doesn’t want to be evil and she wants to be good and that being with the princesses and helping others made her feel good? The whole reason she went back to the evil side was because she cares about her brother and she’s willing to sacrifice being happy for him “He needs me.”(And people say she doesn’t care about him as much as he does..)
I would make more examples but I don’t have the time, But I find it crazy when alot of people try to say shes irredeemable compared to her brother. When shes just as capable of having a redemption as he does. And thats coming from someone who has a bias for Mephisto
Praxina Is clearly more arrogant and detached than her brother, but it’s a way to protect them both. Her harshness towards him is so he can improve in other words tough love. She knows he can do better. In Mephistos case though the scolding made him more insecure and upset because from his point of view it seemed like she didn’t need him around and his efforts were useless, Praxina has implied that many times where if something goes wrong she deflects the blame to him to protect her own self-esteem. Working for Gramorr had clearly affected both of them emotionally. Because he does the opposite to Praxina, any small thing that happens to her hes overly nurturing and protective of her, making Praxina feel like shes incapable of taking care of her own. He literally feeds into her entitlement, hell even in missions he let’s her make most calls.(Wow it’s almost like it’s done on purpose the whole red and green being opposite on the colorwheel!!) They’re so reliant on each other that to the point if they’re not together they start to fall apart, They both practically helpless without the other.
People try to act that the only reason Their relationship is deemed “toxic” is because of her when it’s a two sided thing. They’re both hindering each other. Notice how they both are doing pretty good and becoming people when they’re with Iris or quite literally anyone that isnt each other? Whenever either of them are doing something ‘good’ they pull each other back to their bad habits when the other is doing better.
They both need to deal with some of their issues alone, have relationships outside of each other to improve. They’re both flawed, they both have issues. And that’s what makes them interesting. That’s what makes them realistic and relatable, and I hate when people erase that.
I also wish they stuck with “Forget you” being a twins centered episode, I did not like when they acted like Iris was the one that was dealing with loss than Praxina and Mephisto. Like CRYING over her friendship with Praxina when their friendship wasn’t even a DAY LONG?? I’d understand praxina tearing up because she hasn’t felt like this before, she didn’t have the privilege of having friends before. Iris is literally friends with almost everyone. I also don’t like how the episode right after they act like what happened in forget you was like nothing even though it’s only an episode apart!
Hope my rambling makes sense👍
