[Love yourself - HER] V version Taehyung
into the marrow ( taehyung x hyunjung )
>> @pevrlscent
it’s under a new moon that he sees her, the breath in his throat caught. his heart beats against his chest-- a steady thump, repetitive and almost painful. his skin is itching, his limbs aching to move, to get closer; it’s something he’s only ever heard about, read through written notebooks of his craft. imprinting has always been something he’s thought to be a myth, something to ensure witches that life wouldn’t be so awful; that they wouldn’t be destined to be alone.
but here she is, the twist in his gut and the sting in his eyes telling him she’s the one. but he doesn’t have the courage to move.
she’s all beauty, beauty and soft features-- a sweet face that taehyung hasn’t seen in such a long time. he knows they must look like a pair. in his ripped attire, pretty jewelry and ink scattered across the revealed bits of his flesh. the strands of his hair messy and unkempt on his hair, but his eyes strong on his features.
and slowly, his feet move-- boots crunching on the dirt one step, then two. his mouth is dry as he watches her, and he swallows; thick and dry and nearly suffocating. he wonders what his family would say; prideful kim taehyung, made speechless at the sight of his imprinted being. how comical.
“i--” he chokes out, and the attention is on him. his ears burn a red as he clears his throat, straightens his body; all leather and lace and distressing, tan skin revealed to the eye. he smiles, shaky and awkward, long fingers raking through his hair as he exhales. “please tell me i’m not the only one feeling this.” he states, voice low and hopeful as he trails his eyes over her features. it sounds so weird, so strange; but taehyung can’t help it. “i’ve been waiting ages to meet you.” he’s so earnest in his words; if there is anything kim taehyung is, he’s earnest and honest-- maybe to a degree that isn’t very appropriate.
but he is honest as ever about this.
self-portrait against red wallpaper, richard siken
silk and rose water ( sunggyu x heeyeon )
>> @pevrlscent
anxiety settles in his gut. his tongue feels heavy in his mouth, his gut warm with alcohol. he blinks, eyes trailing over the people mingling on the street. women, men-- so much skin revealed. his fingers twitch by his sides, and he shoves his hands into his pockets. he licks at his lips, shuffling forward-- his breathing heavy.
it’s impulse, sheer action that causes him to move, take the step forward. he doesn’t know what compels him to take this route-- in terms of normalcy, sunggyu has so many other options. options that would cause him trouble, issue, he’s sure-- because sunggyu’s never once asked something from anyone. he’s independent, always working for himself, and he gives, helps others when they need it.
sunggyu never asks for himself. he never takes a chance to focus on himself, and the change will surely cause some sort of commotion with his familiar connections.
the woman in front of him is a sight to see. all teeth and curved lips, eyes glinting and her hair, a fair ashy blonde that’s rare for him to see. in a world amidst suits, tight lips and curt words, she’s a breath of fresh air.
he breathes out, swallows in a motion that has his throat visibly bobbing. his approach, awkward and apparent, has him smiling strangely. his gut droops, and he wonders what his colleagues would say -- his apprehension at approaching a prostitute, of all things. sunggyu can look business men in the eye and cut down down with only a few words, but he can’t even speak to a woman of her caliber so easily.
“ah, excuse me.” he bows his head, teeth pressing down on his lip. he shifts from foot to foot, a frown marring his features; his eyebrows pinch together. he isn’t sure how to ask, how to even go about this. “i-- may i have some of your time?”
buy my love ( eunbi x taemin )
>> @pevrlscent
her finger slides across her screen, scrolling over notifications as she sits back in her seat-- eyes trailing over various messages, notifications and emails. there’s one from a former benefactor stating her upcoming semester’s intuition has been paid off. she hums, typing out a quick thank you with a heart emoji he had liked so much. her tongue clicks as she swipes to the next, scrunches her nose up from another email from a daddy. it’s not nice words, all accusations and derogatory names that eunbi frowns at and swipes away.
one pointed fingernail taps on the table. her tongue pokes against the inside of her cheek-- and the approaching waitress has her lifting her head. an eyebrow raises, a polite smile on her face.
“just waiting, but a water would be nice.” eunbi’s voice cuts in, quick and to the point. the waitress blinks in surprise before she smiles, nods her head and spins around the way she came. the smile slides off her face as she returns her gaze to the phone; she’s done this one too many times. it’s all habitual, routine at this point.
her head lifts at the sight of an approaching body, appraising for a moment-- before they drift back to her phone, only to shoot back up when they come closer and closer, stopping near her table. her mouth parts, surprise in her features as her head cocks to the side.
“ah.” she blinks, tongue swiping across her lower lip. “...lee taemin-ssi?” she questions, lips pursing as she assesses.
the secrets inside her mind are like flowers in a garden at nighttime ;
filling the darkness with perfume
iridescent ( jinsoul x jimin )
>> @pevrlscent
when jinsoul awakens, it’s with sand in her mouth and her skin burning.
she coughs, throat dry and rough-- her breathing sharp and shallow. fingers grip at the ground, coarse sand filtering between the space between her fingers. blonde hair is scattered, messy and wet and falling over her shoulders as she pushes herself to sit up, to stand; to not be so face down into the shoreline like she is.
the shoreline. the shoreline-- not her ship, the shore. where is her ship? where are her mates? the yelling, the screaming. where is it? all she can hear is the sound of waves, water hitting the ground and the chirping of wild life.
wide eyes take in her surroundings. there’s dirt, sand and greenery around her-- water at her back. it’s an island of sorts, and one glance onto the ocean tells her there isn’t much else to be seen. anger glistens in her gut-- her head screaming at her to remember.
violence, fire. canons and gunfire, swords and bloodshed. the crackling of wood, the smell of ash, of soot, of gun powder. the water hitting her skin, the fire licking at her fingers.
there had been battle. there had been casualties; there had been jinsoul on deck and then suddenly off-- thrown to the side to avoid the gunfire, only to fall right into the ocean’s vicious tides.
and now she’s lost, abandoned; will her crew come to find her? there’s the slightest bit of fear that scratches at her. with a shaky breath she pushes herself to her feet. her clothes are drenched, sticking to her form-- heavy, deadweight. she grimaces.
stumbling from the shoreline takes her further into the land; and jinsoul is wanting, desperate for something to soothe the dryness in her throat. sand is still caked onto her face, and every part of her stings, throbs with pain.
her eyes brighten with hope, relief settling into her bones as she practically staggers to the lagoon just in sight. she climbs, clambers over rocks. she’s heaving, breath scraping in her throat as she dangles precariously, stretches her arm to the water beneath-- fingertips grazing the surface of the water. “c’mon,” she croaks, willing her body closer.
ever after, ( hyejoo x jeonghan )
>> @pevrlscent
“...so what is it?”
hyejoo smiles, the curve of it soft and amused. her hand lifts the charm up-- the paper cut into a human shape. she taps at it with her index finger, a soft chuckle escaping her.
“it’s a charm.” she answers, trailing her eyes over the few people left in the classroom. “kinda like...a friendship one. eternal relationships, stuff like that.”
“that sounds fun!” one girl chirps, her pig tails bouncing on her head. she shuffles forward, eagerly eyeing the paper between hyejoo’s fingers. “how does it work?”
she smiles, gesturing everyone to come forward. they shuffle, edge towards her with gazes pinpointed on the charm. one student stays back, seated silently; hyejoo’s eyes trail over him silently before she clears her throat. she raises her voice so she can be heard throughout the room, projects it so even the boy in the back can hear her.
“we all gather around it, and we each grab at a piece. all of us say-- sachiko, we beg of you! once for every person apart of it. then we all pull at once-- rip off a piece of the charm, and we hold onto it for safe keeping.” he eyes flicker over everyone, her smile widening so the whites of her teeth peek out. “pretty easy, right?”
there’s a hum of agreements, some hesitating, a boy complaining about how lame. hyejoo chuckles, her eyes crinkling into crescents as she gestures for everyone to come close-- and then pauses, directing her gaze to the lone boy off to the side. clutching the charm to her chest, hyejoo shuffles forward, tilting her head to the side as she approaches the boy.
“jeonghan-ssi?” she questions, soft smile in place. “why don’t you join us?” her hand extends, fingers gesturing for him to grab at them. “c’mon, it’ll be nice!”
your eyes half- thrush half-angel and your drowsy lips were float flowers a kiss ( xi )
( jeongguk x chaewon soulmate au )
one & only ( jeongguk x gowon )
pevrlscent:
“are you going to write back?” the nurse is holding her pen again and chaewon realizes its been several minutes she’s moved at all - lost in whispers of self loathing.
“i suppose i will.” she takes the pen, bowing at the nurse in a small thanks and on the opposite arm, she circles the space where her iv is placed. she draws an arrow and labels it as such. then, using the free space remaining, she writes.
eat well too. and dont apologize so much. stay safe so we may meet one day.
waiting always makes him twitchy. jeongguk's never been one to sit still. his head flops onto the pillow of the bed, a loud sigh escaping him. he lifts his arm, a twitch in his brow at the sting of pain it causes, and looks at the conversation on his arm. he smiles to himself, lips curving so wide until his teeth are beaming. he's talking to his soulmate-- and they're talking back. granted, jeongguk doesn't know if they like him, like the fact they're talking to him. he doesn't know if they appreciate the fact he's always so injured, always so beat him. they must be annoyed, but jeongguk can't help but feel happy, even if it's a small amount. even if it may be short lived.
he stares at his arm for a long moment, and his excitement dwindles when there's no response. he frowns, slowly lowering his arm to stare up at the ceiling. maybe he scared them off; maybe they're upset, annoyed with his lack of care in his body. there's a sting in his eye that he blinks away, a shuddered breath leaving him as he shuts his eyes.
they only stay shut for a few moments, until one is peaking out to look at his arm. a strangled noise leaves him when he catches the few bits of writing appearing on his opposite arm. he follows the circle, the arrow-- down to the words appearing, watches them with something akin to awe.
he fumbles for the pen-- presses the tip to his arm.
you too! i'll try. i say sorr
"why are you drawing on yourself, mr. jeon?"
jeongguk jolts, head snapping up as his hand jerks-- cutting off the sorry on his word and creating a jagged line of ink on his arm. he stares at the nurse, wide-eyed and closed mouth as she smiles in confusion. "w-what?"
"would you like a paper to draw on?"
"uh." his eyes flicker over her face. she's nice, one he sees a lot; but people talk in this hospital, and the last thing that jeongguk wants is his father finding out he's writing notes to his soulmate. "n-no. that's okay. i just-- want to be alone right now."
"ah. alright. would you like something to drink?"
"no." he shoots at her. "n-no thank you. please, uh. if you could--"
she smiles, still confused; she bows her head and ducks out of the room, shutting the door behind her. he swallows, fingers shaking as he exhales softly. his eyes flicker down to his arm, and panic settles over him. he continues his message with a curse on his breath.
i say sorry a lot. it's a bad habit. i hope you stay healthy too!! ^^
he writes in a messy scribble, quick as he can be-- as if he were going to be interrupted at any second. as if he doesn't want to keep his soulmate waiting-- and he doesn't, not at all.
he bites on the tip of his tongue, taps the pen on his cheek. hesitation settles over him before he's writing, in smaller lettering underneath his original writing.
my name is jeongguk. it's really nice to talk to you.
limitless ( irene x jaehwan )
pevrlscent:
and he’s good at it. that is until pretty little twats don’t kill all his charges before he’s able to so much as blink at them.
it makes him so–
“you know it’s pretty fucking heartless to kill a bunch of men with a dead or alive bounty on ‘em. “ he speaks, loudly. “besides, you earn more money when theyre alive so it’s pretty stupid too.”
there is little that surprises irene. she's lived a decent life, filled with far too many hardships, far too many experiences a girl like her should have endured. very little catches her off-guard, and when it goes, she never enjoys it. she always likes to be prepared, likes to be one step ahead.
she jolts at the voice that cuts in, her head snapping up and to the side to stare at the man that speaks. he's loud, the vulgarity in his tone causing her to frown. she straightens her form, eyes narrowed as she watches, observes and takes in his features into memory. her tongue pokes against the inside of her cheek, a disbelieving noise leaving her mouth.
"does it matter?" she questions, voice soft. she sets her glass down on the counter, graceful, dainty; she's always been dignified-- always been calm, cool and composed. it's what makes her irene, it's what keeps her safe. "i earn what i give. it doesn't matter if it's more or it's less. just the matter if i receive it or not."
he's bold. he's bold and she doesn't like that at all. she straightens her form, tilts her head at him-- eyes flicker to the screen, then to her file. they settle back on him, narrowed and glaring.
"heartless?" irene breathes. "perhaps. however, dead men can't fight back. and they certainly can't speak back to me." her nails tap a rhythm; steady and repeating-- but the sound is sharp, as if it were just as irritated as her. "these men-- their lives, are they that important to you?"
she turns her head away, stares down at her file. remembers every face, what they've done-- why they were marked in the first place.
"one man burned down his home with his wife and children inside." she comments softly. "another robbed a bank, took hostages. killed them all." a pause. her lips purse. "a man who stabbed a teenage girl on her way home-- and left her on the streets to die." she laughs, a chuckle; it's wry, dry-- disbelieving. "would you prefer if these men were locked in a cell, living and breathing? where they could escape at any time and do the same damn thing?"
little red, ( jieun x yoongi )
pevrlscent:
she finds a set of curtains and dive rolls behind them, pressing herself against the wall and willing the fabric to still.
and still it does, just as the door opens and her chaser arrives.
silence follows. yoongi blinks, presses open the door and steps and inside-- eyes trailing, curious and sharp. watchful and wary. the door shuts closed behind him, and he waits-- a few seconds, breath held, as if he were waiting for someone to step out. someone to attack, someone to plead. nothing comes, and yoongi for a moment, is disappointed.
his eyes fall to the shattered vase, the fragments scattered in their fall-- trailing his eyes up towards the window. small steps, careful and quiet-- the curtains are pulled aside, tucked close to the wall. he doesn't chance a glance at them, and instead focuses most of his attention on the window. it looks closed at first sight-- but it's opened a crack, not fully closed at all. the night breeze slithers in, and suspicion settles in his gut.
"how senseless." he calls out, voice still low-- a drawl, sounding more amused than anything else. "you left the window opened in your haste. what a child's mistake."
his fingers tap on the window-sil-- before sliding, the thin sheen of frost on the tips of his fingers making a small track. he turns his head, assessing the rest of the room for anything else; for any other strange things. the rug is out of place, just a tad-- but for the most part, everything else looks the same. yoongi's tongue clicks, and he glances, grazes his eyes over everything single thing. there aren't very many places to hide-- and there's only two entrances to this room. the window, and the door. vases don't fall off stands just like that-- and this room hasn't been inhabited, hasn't been visited since the early hours of the morning.
yoongi isn't a fool.
his head twists, and he catches it-- a pair of feet sticking out from behind the curtains. he stares, for a long moment as it settles, and he has the urge to laugh. how silly; how...
he can't help the quirk in his lips. a breath leaves him, something akin to a laugh.
"i do hope," he starts. "...that you don't truly think you can hide just behind some simple pieces of cloth." his tongue clicks, his head shaking, as if he really can't believe the incredulity of the situation. it doesn't take him long to cross, his hand reaching up to grasp at the curtains. his eyes narrow, and the ice appears-- sliding across the fabric; warning, threatening. and he tugs it aside, eyes falling on the form, the face of the intruder-- and promptly stares, because of all the things he expects, it's certainly not this.
one & only ( jeongguk x gowon )
pevrlscent:
there’s a beat where she sits, in silence. unsure what to do. what to feel, only staring at the chicken scratch on her arm. it is only when the nurse brings her a pen does she move.
she takes it and begins to write.
thank you. please be kinder to your body.
jeongguk watches the ink stain his flesh -- one second, two, three. he clicks the pen and waits, wonders; will his soulmate answer back? will they enjoy his message? thoughts plague his mind-- at first, carefree and sweet. and then they twist, morph into something scary. what if they're angry; what if he's ruined something because of his thoughtless actions. what if they never wanted to hear from him in the first place?
his tongue prods against his cheek. he licks at the cut on his mouth, winces when he tastes the copper on his tongue. shaking his head-- he swallows, and begins the incessant click of his pen in a flurry of movement. his eyes drift from his arm to the room around him; white. everything is white. it's dull and boring but so familiar, so safe. here he doesn't have to worry about being hit, about being punished for stupid things. for being too slow, for being too quiet when he talks. for being not good enough. for not meeting expectations set too god damn high.
movement. his eyes flicker down-- and then they widen, mouth parting at the words that begin to appear, slide across the bruised flesh. he swallows, sitting straighter as he fumbles for the pen. teeth press harshly down on his lip, and he ignores the sting of pain-- tip of the utensil hovering under the space where they wrote. what does he say?
should he apologize? they've had to have noticed the state of his body, judging from their words alone. should he explain? there's so many thoughts running through his mind.
instead, he swallows, lets the tip of the pen press on his skin-- and he writes, wincing when he scrapes over a particularly sensitive mark on his flesh.
i'm sorry! i'll learn to be better next time.
he lets go of his lip. he breathes out, shaky and tense-- nervous and excited. his fingers are shaking, and he wishes for them to stop, in case they mess up the flow of his writing.
i'm sorry if they've caused you trouble.
little red, ( jieun x yoongi )
pevrlscent:
tonight was going well – perhaps suspiciously so. the fall of dusk brought out the shadows and the thieves, and jieun had been one of them. she fell in step behind guards and blended beneath peaks of black to hide. it brought her far, brought her to her target with no issue which was, in fact, a rarity for the less-than-perfect thief.
she stares at the large silver’s manor with nervous confidence, her skin buzzing and her fingers trembling. the adrenaline is there, pumping and screaming through her veins, pushing her to go. and go she will – this is her chance. this is the start of something so much more. proof, she can do this. solid proof that she is a better thief than she appears. and the gold. good lord the gold that this family’s artifacts would bring – she silently thanks the general for serving her so well.
and then she speeds off. and lady luck is still on her side. the guards, posted around large and tower gates, do not catch her. she uses her grace and lifts herself up and over the fence and drops, rolling into the grass. she makes a shift of a noise and darts behind shadows. a guard, curious, wanders by and glances to where she fell.
to him, there is nothing.
so he continues on. as does jieun, moving across the vast and decorated yard with the stealth and grace she puts into her court dances. she slides behind sculptures and rolls under fountains. and it works.
her heart is humming, loudly, in her ears. holy shit its working.
when she gets to the manor house, she stands beneath a set of windows. her eyes focus on the second story, where her informant had told her would lead her directly to the safe room.
she scales the brick of the wall, her fingers tips ripping under the edges even under the fabric of her clothes. but its only a price to pay.
when she reaches the window she pulls her face mask over her mouth and lets herself balance on the edge of the window sill as her fingers go to work. from her pocket she pulls the two thin pins, inserting one into the top of the keyhold and another into the midpoint. she begins to tinker and toy with them, moving them and shifting them left, right, up and down until finally the window clicks.
jieun can feel her heart light aflame. excitement, fear, it all awaits her through that window.
she slides in, jumps to land.
and she slips and slides against the rug. it knocks her and a standing vase off its showcase, both tumbling to the floor.
she let’s out a groan, the vase lets out a loud crash.
and jieun’s blood leaves her body, she goes cold.
tonight was a good night.
when he has been a child, yoongi has been often told he was destined for greatness. the silver under his skin was something pure; of power and luxury and success. he wouldn't have to lift a finger, wouldn't have to bare callouses on his hands. he wouldn't have to do a single thing other than exist-- and he'd be great.
and he is. he's the face of the min family; the son of a general, the youngest sibling to a family of military men. he's held in such high regard, under the royal family -- has long since pledged servitude, loyalty. but yoongi, himself-- isn't a military man at all. only a face. no motivation, no will to work, no will to oversee. he doesn't want to be a general, doesn't want to be in some high position of power. he quite enjoys his life as is; alone, for the most part-- without worry, without need of change.
but he's dreadfully bored.
an informant is blabbering is in ear; an assistant of sorts as he spouts on ideas his father has, how he'll go about them. what's expected of yoongi. it's the same old spiel he's heard countless of times. tired eyes stare forward, fingers curled around the handle of a teacup-- once warm, not hissing in reaction to the sheen of frost that glistens over it. he's never liked his tea hot anyway.
"your father expects your presence at the palace, m'lord. there is to be a wonderful show, a performance-- handpicked by the prince i've heard."
"lovely." yoongi states, dry as ever. a sip to his drink has the older gentleman wincing-- eyes focused on the frost on the cup. "i'm sure it must be grand."
"o-of course. only the finest."
he nods-- mouth parting to speak, but the shattering of glass has both of them stilling. yoongi blinks, slow as he stares off into the direction of it. the male at his side splutters, twitches-- mouths off some sort of comment about a servant with clumsy hands. yoongi pauses. there's no servants allowed on this side of the manor-- not so late at night. his eyes narrow.
"you're dismissed." he states shortly. he offers the teacup to the man who takes it with a splutter, a hand waved in dismissal. "i'm retiring once i check up on that. alert my father i've heard his orders. have a good night."
his footsteps are soft, quiet as he moves further and further away. he dives around the corner of a hallway-- pauses near one of the few rooms. his eyes flicker, pause on the door nearest to the safe room, and slides over. his fingers curl around the handle-- and he watches, the frost glaze over at it's touch. it's comforting, the reminder. and he slowly opens the door, eyes sharp in the dark as he watches for movement carefully.
limitless ( irene x jaehwan )
< @pevrlscent >
the tapping is continuous. a steady pattern she focuses on as her eyes drift over the file-- pictures, names, birthdates; crimes and reasoning all typed across the paper. an arsonist, a petty thief, a bankrobber and a murderer. different roles and types stare back at her-- and irene merely hums as she turns over the page.
red x's mark some faces. with prices pressed over their heads. a reminder of what she's done, what she's gained. a circle around one-- the notes, the question marks. it's an art she's used to-- an art she's learned, crafted and molded to fit to her style since she had been young enough to carry a gun.
"you a mercenary of sorts, miss?"
her eyes flicker up. head tilting to address the bartender. he has a smile on his face, nodding towards her file. lips pursing, she closes it with a sharp movement. she matches the smile with one of her own-- albeit much more tense. her eyes trail, flicker over his features.
"something like that." she offers, glancing away. her fingers drum a rhythm on the paper set, tongue poking against the inside of her cheek. the bartender slides her a drink-- an ordered martini, pretty in color and dainty. it matches her frame, her build. one of her hand move to wrap around it, lifting it up to her mouth to take a small sip. it's bitter, straight to the point. leaves her warm on the inside. her smile curves, softens just a bit. "more money involved. less contracts."
"bounty hunter, then." he chuckles. he nods to the television-- and her eyes follow, watch the wanted posted flicker up; a man, a familiar face. his bounty so high, irene remember's how it felt holding it in her hands. "you that pretty devil who reaped the benefits?"
she pauses, eyes watchful of the man over her glass. setting it down, her eyes move across the bar top. there's few souls; a woman on one end who can't sit still-- draping out of her stool as she sings some awful song. an old man who looks like he's seen too much-- and another, younger man seated a seat away from her, drinking some sort of creamy substance. her nose crinkles up, and she reverts her stare back to the tender.
"perhaps. am i too obvious?" she muses, eyebrow raised. the bartender merely chuckles, shaking his head-- and he's ushered away, helping the woman too drunk for her own good as she topples out of her seat. irene continues to stare forward, then back down to her drink. "pretty devil, huh."
regret of the times ( soojung x jongin )
< @pevrlscent >
as the youngest sibling, soojung learns that more often than naught, the short stick always falls upon her. without fail; if there's something to be done, soojung is to be the one. if something goes wrong, it's on soojung's hands. it's always this, always that. soojung has learned to take the brunt of consequences well; she has learned to take orders with grace and dignity.
but a hate grows, licks in her gut; volatile and wild as she stands next to her siblings, head held up high as she grazes her eyes over the dancing crowd. her fingers are clasped together, tight and white knuckled-- and the touch on her shoulder has her tensing.
"near the back corner. near the duke-- you see him, yes?" the hushed voice of her sister's echoes in her ear. soojung blinks, gives the slightest bit of a nod. "that's him. you do your best, make us proud. we'll do everything else." soojung fights back the shudder; what horrible things her siblings have done, will do to the life of this man. all for the sake of wealth, for safety.
"of course." she whispers, and with a tap to her shoulder, she's off. heeled feet clicking against the floor as she crosses the ballroom. she holds herself with the dignity, the grace of someone refined-- of someone who knows luxury like no other.
she swallows back the nerves. she's done this countless times before, bare the ring of so many men on her finger she's long since stopped counting.
"hello," she greets, a small, simple smile on her face as she bows her head. "a sir, kim -- kim jongin, was it?" her head tilts the side, curiosity shining in the depths. practices, perfected; soojung almost feels sickened with how easy it becomes. "i am honored to meet your acquaintance."
one & only ( jeongguk x gowon )
< @pevrlscent >
"you know, i'm getting a little concerned for all these visits, jeongguk-ah."
jeongguk smiles through bleeding lips at the doctor, wincing at the prod on his arm. he exhales sharply, shaking his head as he resist the urge to bite down on his lower lip. he shifts, gritting his teeth through the throb of pain. the doctor above him sighs, shaking his head as he notes it on the cllipboard. "you requested an overnight stay. your injuries aren't...that severe. home life not treating you well?"
jeongguk shrugs, averting his gaze to the ground. the doctor knows somethings up; as do most of the staff. being the son of the hospital president, jeongguk visits quite often, but usually at the hand of his anger driven father. unfortunately, not much can be done about jeongguk's injuries. don't ask, don't tell -- look the other way.
"well," the doctor lifts himself and offers a soft smile to the other. jeongguk feels bad for not indulging, but he knows there's little can be done. if he slips up, it's only more injuries on his part and the termination of the doctor's contract. he doesn't want to be the reason behind that. "that's fine. you know how everything works at this point. call for the nurses if you need anything, alright?"
quiet steps, and then silence. beeping in his ear; steady, continuous. he grunts as he pushes himself further on the bed, wincing at the strain in his arms. they're bandaged from cuts, but the bruises still are bright against his skin. he trails his eyes across them, frown marring his features. he should be used to it, the sight, the feel. but it still hurts, still makes him sick to see.
sick to know his soulmate has to be cursed with such imagery.
his hand fumbles for the pen on the bedside table, heart beating in his chest. it's like every other night, where he hesitates; thinks of something to write, something to say. all other nights he retreats with promises of tomorrow, but the pen is on his skin and he's writing before he can help it-- ink scribbled across his forearm.
are you healing well? i hope your recovery went okay.
