hi, i need some advice about something. can you be traumatized from a death (uncle) when you were 4-5? let me explain more. my uncle was a drug addict and did a lot of heroin. i was told (by my mom) that he was getting clean for me, then when i was 4-5, he relapsed and passed away. i think about him a lot. until later on in life, i wasnt told how he died. i also dont remember him a lot. i wasn’t just wondering if that could be traumatizing? if this makes you feel weird, you dont have to answer it. thank you so much.

I'm not an expert on trauma but yeah death can be traumatizing for anyone

coming back to an abandoned tumblr blog desdpite having a living one is like transferring my soul to a corpse, walking around like a zombie.

Does anyone see me? Can you hear me? Was it all for nothing?

Everyone wants to talk about "older sibling guilt" but nobody wants to talk about having someone you look up to like a saint treating you like the most annoying and worthless thing they've ever layed eyes on, and not even remembering it because for you it was one of your first memories of them, that shaped not only your relationship but your whole childhood, and for them it was a Wednesday. And nobody wants to talk about how that same person, years later, will be whining your ear off about "why do you hate me? You treat me so bad! You think I'm the worst person in the world!" Because they don't realize that their actions have affected almost every aspect of your life and the way you make friends, form meaningful relationships, and view your family members.

i miss you. i don't because you did and said so many mean things. and yet, you were just another traumatized autistic teenager like me. i'm sorry things ended the way they did but i couldn't find any other way out other than trying to avoid. i hope you think about me sometimes too and how you could have done better. i also hope you are in college or at least working a job you like and get to live on your own. Its been three years. You won't even see this. We were dating once.

(This is an issue my friend had and wanted me to share.)

I was a fifteen year old female and 5’. One of my little brothers is thirteen and 5'2 and an athlete, so very much an extreme amount stronger than me. When we were younger we used to rough house and play fight, but stop meant stop.

Lately, now that he’s stronger than me, he likes to inturrupt my daily life and pin me down, twist my arms in ways that hurts like absolute hell and has almost snapped them a few times, and knocks me to the floor. He leaves bruises on my arms from grabbing me or “jokingly” punching me.

I tell my friends and they laugh at me and tell me their siblings do the same and this is normal behavour. I go home and I’m genuinly afraid he’s going to go too far and snap something on my body because he is so much stronger then me and I can’t defend myself.

My parents don’t care about any of this because we’re siblings and fighting is normal.

The first time I had my boyfriend over, (6'1, athlete, works out a few hours a day) he was furious with how many times he had to pull my brother off of me or step in front of me so he couldn’t hurt me, and he brought this up to me, and gave me this example.

Now. I want you to replace the word “brother” with “boyfriend”. If I mentioned my boyfriend did any of this to me, there’s a good chance he would be ARRESTED.

Yet… my brother gets away with it because… we’re siblings?

Stop normalizing this bullshit idea that is legally ABUSE to siblings. Teach your children not to hit anyone. Thank you for coming to my TED talk.
