HE’S GONE. the words carved a place in his head and kept him from doing much else. Jaxon’s gone. his little brother. D E A D. pen and pad of paper sat next to him on the bench under a cup of untouched whatever he’d gotten at starbucks and his glasses. he was going to be ill, there was no tiptoeing around that fact.
Camden hardly recognized the boy on the bench, her eyes filled with concern as she watched him struggle with whatever thoughts he had. “Are you alright?” she questioned softly, still a few feet away from him.
the bar is almost empty, the usual hustle and bustle being tempted to stay at home out of fear of ending up like either of the dyer or ryder boys. holden, on the other hand, found solace in the back, tucked away in a booth nursing a glass of something strong. the crying had stopped in the dyer household, giving way to endless wrath and a need for vengeance, but all holden wanted to go was get blind drunk and forget; something rare for a boy so opposed to alcohol and drugs. ‘ another one… ’ he mumbled, slurring slightly as he noticed a shadow approach his table, ‘ no, make it a double this time. ’
her shift had just ended, and she couldn’t shake the morbid feeling she felt--hell, the entire town felt it. slipping into the bar, camden held up a finger at the bartender, who was now all too familiar with her. the redhead didn’t bother to pay attention to the others around her, she simply made her way toward her favorite table and sat--that is, until she heard the boy slur for another drink. “’fraid you’ve got the wrong girl for that. i don’t think the bartender quite heard you.”
“So this might be a bit forward, but long story short, I need a model for a realism portrait series I’m working on. Would you be down?”
“I’d love to help you out--but I’m not sure I’m model material.”

‘only a few hundred times,’ camden teased, flashing her a grand smile. her head shook a bit as domi questioned her, ‘it’s nothing serious. okay, that’s crap--but i’m not sure how to explain everything. i’m not even sure of the entire situation.’ she shrugged, sipping a glass of her own. ‘nicholas sparks can wait, but it shouldn’t. we need him, immediately.’

“like i said before, you have the potential to be someone greater than who you claim to be--who everyone thinks you are.” her voice faltered, her head shaking. “now? now i don’t see that. if you kill him, that’s it--don’t come around looking for medical help or sympathy ever again. be who you want to be, tommy, be a murderer. just don’t expect anyone to stick around for it.”

“I’m--I was walking home.” camden flinched as his fist connected with the other’s jaw, her eyes closing for a moment as she inhaled. the redhead stood frozen in place for a moment, the only sound she could hear was the guy whimpering in pain. “do not ‘cam’ me right now. what the fuck are you even doing right now? you’re NOT this guy--walk away.”
