oculumprooculo·:
Pearly whites momentarily flashed as they fail to contain a grin. They had been anticipating the moment of judgement just as much, that much as abundantly clear, yet their means of preparation for the big event happened to be so entirely different it bordered on satire. Granted, a clear mind sounded adequate, reasonable, perhaps even like a requirement if one was to make the most of whatever was to be in store for them â but what value could sobriety hold to someone whose mind was never clear in the first place, ruled by their temper, their urges, their insatiable wrath and all the means they knew to express it?
As opposed to losing it, they had gained control through being comfortably numb, a snowstorm battling to soothe the heat of the raging flames beneath the stonecold surface and, for now, keeping the upper hand.Â
âI wasnât aware they even served water here,â Marcelo sneered, a brief motion placing their order on their behalf, a rather alcoholic one at that. Slender fingers reached for another liquid promise of peace of mind, their gaze involuntarily drifting to the damning numbers that take up a significant portion of Castoraâs phone screen before darting back to the bottom of the glass.Â
âYou know, some of us are just trying to keep themselves from breaking that insufferable âno blood, no jousts, no funâ rule.â A dismissive shrug, hazel eyes fixing on her. âSome artificial contentment has always done a better job at anger management than any other form of therapy that doesnât involve using your fists.â
 -  Lacquered nails tap against the side of the glass tumbler, partially surprised that it isnât made of plastic, her eyebrows raising with forced surprise. Castora knows that there are those among them who do not care what happens, so long as itâs not their neck on the line. Despite the severity of the evening, which is currently being masked by manufactured euphoria, there are those who will awake in the morning with a pounding head and little interest in the nightâs proceedings. Their investment into the cause ends with their salary and that is that. Those are the ones who take advantage of the free bar.Â
She recognises Marcelo almost immediately, the tone of his voice and the mannerisms of his body, itâs familiar. Every since she joined the Montagues, Castora has been watching those around her, all the little traits and tells which they have.Â
â They do if you ask, â she responds sarcastically with a roll of her eyes, swallowing a generous glug of water. It may not be what most people want, but in her opinion it is what they should be having. Although, if something is amiss, it is better for her enemies to not have all of their senses. â I will suggest keeping jousting to a minimum this evening, Marcelo. â Castora has never been one for small talk, but standing in awkward silence is far worse, so she continues on. Â
â Have you tried the rival products? â
