I'm reading Babel and there are some delicious daddy issues and half-brother times, and I might write a one-shot of an AU where they grow up together and Robin is slightly clingier. But also I want to read more because if it turns out Mr Racist is batshit crazy I probably won't be in the mood anymore. (Or maybe I'll be even more in the mood. Things would just be even more whumpy hshshs)

I have a drabble sitting in Word. It's 1.7k words so far. It doesn't have a proper ending yet, and I'm not completely sure what I want Griffin to be like as a teenager.
Also it's way fluffier than I was expecting. And of course I've managed to put humor in there too.
Here's the first 150 words:
Griffin had never asked for a brother; or a second charge as Lovell had put it when he came home from Canton with a small, pale eight-year-old in tow. But Griffin wasn’t stupid, but more importantly he wasn’t blind.
He was pretty sure Robin also knew, because once during dinner when Professor Lovell had reminded Mrs Piper not to serve Robin any sauce; because apparently, Robin couldn’t handle dairy;
“You see, unlike the Europeans, almost the entire Oriental are naturally disinclined to dairy products. Their stomachs cannot handle it”, the professor had explained to them.
Mrs Piper had said, “It’s a good thing Griffin can eat it. Otherwise, it would hardly be worth getting the ingredients for only two portions.”
And from his seat Robin had perked up, “Well the Professor can drink milk, so it makes sense”, like it was the most obvious thing in the world, and Professor Lovell’s fork had stopped halfway to his mouth. - His face as close to stunned disbelief as Griffin had ever seen it, and Griffin had had to pretend he had gotten something stuck in his throat to cover his laughter.
I mentioned the idea of Robin running away from home to go to Oxford to visit Griffin and I've actually written like 2k words for it. I'm so rusty. It's going so slow. Aaaa :'D But here are some snippets:
After they had eaten, while Robin excused himself to the washroom, Anthony leaned in to ask the question he had been wondering since he had opened the door to their stoop:
“Lovell isn’t actually in Oxford yet, is he?”
Griffin lifted his beer to his lips, head shaking with great gravity.
“Oh, he has run away from home for sure”, he assured him. “I mean, did you see him? He probably hadn’t eaten since boarding the carriage from TBA.”
Anthony had seen him. “The rut sack was quite on the nose as well.”
Griffin hummed and sipped his drink. “He really loves those adventure novels where the hero has to survive in the woods for a while”, Griffin mused. “He makes a fuss when he gets his clothes dirty, though.”
Anthony watched as his friend’s gaze grew deep, though.
“Lovell is going to skin him alive once he gets here.”
“You know from experience?”, Anthony wondered. – To an outside, it may have sounded obtuse to go prodding something that already sounded like a loaded subject. But to Anthony and Griffin, they had long since moved past comparing each respective trauma.
Griffin shook his head. “I never had anywhere to run to.”
They sat in silence for a few seconds. Or, as silent as a pub could be, midday on a Saturday.
“And the plan?”
Griffin scoffed.
“I’m going to treat him like a man on his way to the gallows:” He leaned in conspiration. “I’m going to spoil this child rotten.”
Anthony could sign up for that.

“You must be one of Richard’s boys! How old are you, young man?”, the man asked.
Robin blinked in surprise.
It wasn’t that an adult, much less an Oxford Professor, was paying attention to him. It was the fact that the man had spoken to him in perfect Mandarin.
“Eleven, sir”, Robin responded.
The man hummed.
“You are here visiting, I assume? Your older brother?”
So, he had snapped up the fact that Robin called Griffin Gēge. Though, a lot of people assumed they were brothers. After all, there were only so many Chinamen in England at any given moment. But never a Professor. Never someone who knew Professor Lovell by name.
Robin glanced at Griffin, but he just gestured at him to go on.
“Yes.”
Behind Chakravati’s back, Griffin rolled his eyes. He made a gesture signalling More. Talk more. Anything!

“Where is he?”, his father asked him by way of saying hello.
“Good morning to you too”, Griffin replied, eyes not lifting from the half-translated poem he had in front of him.
Lovell was not impressed. “I’m serious.”
“He’s fine.”
I hope that eventually we get Juliette's POV in the new Watch Me series. I know most people are sick of her and that it's very unlikely since her story is technically over, but I still feel like we are missing a huge part of her that's relevant to the new series.
We never really got to learn how she got the grasp of being a leader. In Restore Me we see her struggle a lot in the beginning with all the responsibilities, and that's about it regarding the topic. In Believe Me she becomes less stressed about the whole thing and accepts it, though from that point on her POV is done and we only get to see what other characters think.
Warner doesn't seem to mention anything about her being stressed (if I remember correctly) with his emotion-feeling ability, so I think it's safe to assume that she started looking at the whole thing from a different perspective after the events of Imagine Me.
James, 10 years later, also doesn't say much. We learn that Juliette and Warner are in this whole thing together, which was expected, and that people are still trying to kill her a decade later, which was, again, expected.
I really hope we get a novella or at least somebody talking about what the whole 10-year gap was like for her. It doesn't feel right that one of her most important arcs gets skipped. It was such a huge deal in Ignite Me and the second half of the series. Everyone thought her decision was crazy, setting up a perfect stage for her to prove them wrong, and it just...doesn't happen.......(yet?)??
I'd literally get on my knees and beg the author to write more moments about that specific part in Juliette's life. PLEASEEEE!!!! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASEEE
I think it would be very hard to convince the publisher to have the POV of a pregnant woman/woman who has recently given birth in a YA book targeted towards teenage girls. It would officially have to be marketed as NA.
I keep thinking of the adult James in Re brothers AU, and it's just Anderson living his best life™. He has remarried with Ms Kent, his ex doesn't bother him, he's supreme commander, Adam and Aaron are super soldiers, his kids obey him, everyone he loves has healing powers; then James shows up to be a menace.
He pins me against the wall and I scream but then his hand is over my mouth-
“Who are you? And what are you doing here?”
“Hey, what's going on?”, Supreme Mom calls out.
“We're just roughhousing”, Adam calls back.
“Be gentle”, she admonishes.
“Yes ma’am”, my brothers call out, in chorus.
And then Adam closes the door.
“So, what are we dealing with? A mimic? Haven't had one of those in ages”, he says and he rolls his shoulders and holy shit why is my brother so buff in this universe?!
Warner shakes his head. “His power signature is the same.”
That makes Adam perk up. “Oh! So it's like a mind virus? Remote mind control?”
He cracks his knuckles. “Dad's going to love that.”
“Actually I'm from a parallel universe! I'm not Jimmy. But I'm James. I just woke up like this!”
Adam Supreme throws his head back and laughs.
“How would you even prove that?”
“I-I could tell you something only I would know! Something Jimmy wouldn't.”
“This could be interesting”, Adam muses.
“Humour me”, Warner tells me.
“That green ring you have?”, I say, speaking fast. “Your mom gave it to you on your birthday because Anderson was going to whip you, and she told you to hide it, like your heart -”
I'm interrupted by Adam Supreme wrenching me from Warner's grip.
“You should really get yourself a refund from Rebel Acting School, kid. Calling Dad Anderson? Didn't they give you any notes?”
He lifts his fist, angled straight on my face.
Fuck, those muscles are HUGE.
He grins. Like he's going to really enjoy this.
“Rookie mistake.”
I shut my eyes. Hard.
This won't be so bad. I think. I'll be healed by tomorrow morning. Unless they're planning to tell Anderson and he'll skin me alive or some shit like that.
Either way, I don't want to look at Adam's face while he does it.
One second goes by. Then two. Three.
I crack one eye open.
Warner's hand is on his wrist.
“Put him down.”
Adam Supreme blinks. Baffled.
“Huh?”
“I said put him down.”
Miraculously, he does.
We watch Warner head towards the door. Like nothing just happened.
Adam Supreme glances at me before shoving me into the wall a bit too roughly. Being so tiny, I hit it with a thud.
I wrote some more! This would technically be the first chapter.
I hear someone walking outside in the hallway so I pull open the door, bracing for whatever silly challenge Kenji has set up for me.
It's even worse than I think.
It's Anderson.
He glances at me as he passes.
“You’re finally up?”, he observes.
He doesn't even stop his stride as he says it.
I don't respond.
I do the natural thing anyone seeing their dead father would do.
I scream.
In a surprising turn of events, Anderson also screams.
He even jumps, like, one foot in the air.
“What’s wrong?!”, he demands.
I stare at him. My face is mirrored in his. Wide eyed. Confused. But not like he wasn’t expecting me to be here. Not like he’s about to torture me. He just looks like I screamed at him.
I don’t answer.
I shut the door again.
What the actual fuck is going on? I think.
My thoughts reel.
I’m an itty-bitty baby – Not an actual baby, but practically. – and Anderson is here. My dead evil super dictator Dad is here. My supervillain levels of evil Dad who is supposed to be dead is out in the corridor and I’m tiny.
Oh, I’ll never forgive Kenji for this.
Never ever.
Simulation Anderson knocks on the door.
“Jimmy?”, he says through the door.
It takes me a second to understand that he’s referring to me.
“Leave me alone!” I yell. I'm doing my best to block the door.
“What's gotten into you?” He demands through the wood. The door handle rattles against my back.
I activate my trap card.
“I’m masturbating!”
The tugging on the door handle abruptly stops.

I find him in the kitchen, sipping coffee and reading reports.
He reminds me so much of Warner, it's kind of insane.
He makes it a point not to glance up at me as I come inside, and for a second I foolishly believe that he won't mention the whole screaming-through-the-door-thing. “Adam already explained everything to me!”, I interrupt.
