why can't i hold all these cyborgs

This is a side blog for my translation adventures of Kamen Rider Spirits & Shin Kamen Rider Spirits. My Japanese is not stellar, so don't expect perfect translations; this is a personal project for practicing Japanese and enjoying bugsuits.

Still around, guy? I miss my tri-annual dose of Spirits. ;-;

I am still around! However, I can’t make any promises on when there will be another update. I’ve had part of the next chapter translated for a while and still poke at it on occasion, but lately I’ve fallen out of my Japanese study habits and my motivation has been low/shifted to other things. Since my memorized kanji and vocabulary is pretty limited and Spirits does not use furigana until it reaches Shin Spirits, it becomes a very time-consuming process for me to manually look up each unfamiliar kanji and compound.

That isn’t to say I’ll never get the next chapter up; I do still love Spirits and want to keep working on it- but it can be hard to start back up on a habit you’ve fallen out of, alas. Sorry for the wishy-washy response, I just hate to say ‘I’ll have something up soon!’ when I know I can be a terrible procrastinator.

I actually have a chapter translated, but not yet typeset. I've been busy planning for a trip to Japan, which is where I am right now. Update will come when I return, sometime after the 18th!

Quick update to say I’m still alive. Lots of life stuff happened, mostly cool stuff, but it resulted in spending less time on this. But now I’m trying to set up a more concrete schedule for my Japanese studies, including working on this. And I do have maybe a third of the next chapter translated. So! Updates will still come, at some point or another.

Do you know any good free programs to read or scans with?

I don’t use a program when reading manga as image files myself, but if you’d prefer to do so I could recommend ComicRack. It’s free, and you can open the .rar file directly and it should display it like it would any .cbr or .cbz file.

Thank you! I do my best to make the translations look good and fit the context even if I have no idea what I’m doing at times.

As an update, I have been working on the next chapter, but between work and this one having more than twice as many pages + a lot more text than the previous one, it’s slow going. I am enjoying working on these chapters though, Joji is one of my favorites.

welcome to cyborg hell

As you can see over <--- there on the sidebar, I’ve been dicking around translating the chapters of Kamen Rider Spirits & Shin Kamen Rider Spirits that were never scanlated, a.k.a. volumes 10-16 of Spirits and all 10+ volumes of Shin Spirits save the first chapter. This is not any kind of official project with scheduled releases or whatnot, I just do it when I feel like it in my free time. But since I imagine there are at least some of you out there who would be interested despite any translation flaws, I’m going to be posting ‘releases’ on this blog as I have them ready.

As of right now, I have uploaded a zip of the first chapter of volume 10 of Spirits + the rest of the Hongo & Ichimonji backstory arc in the beginning of Shin Spirits. I’ll probably upload things in smaller chunks from here on out.

As of this time I expect this blog to be releases + me complaining about how hard Japanese is as I translate, or something along those lines.
