I understand the "I will die for you" ship dynamic, but what about the "I will not let you die, I will not let myself die- we will, at any cost, survive" kind of couple?

@adventurous-fluffs:
"You needn't worry about me in regards to food, or being overwhelmed. But I thank you for the sentiment. I haven't needed for a great many years thanks to a magic item I have. I will follow along anyway though." He would dismiss the magic circle that was on the floor, but keep the butler around to carry the books. He would follow Ava and observe things as usual. The artificial sky was a decent touch since they were between worlds, and the ability to change it would probably help with someone's sanity. There was probably a way to use a higher form of Scrying to view an actual sky or location she desired, but that could be a suggestion for later. He was ever curious and always enjoyed making new spells anyway. He would probably end up making something anyway. "My world has a decent number of magic items that allow individuals to bypass certain basic needs. I'm a magic crafter, both in terms of magic items and in spells, so I was able to make something that could operate as hands for myself."
Ava gently places her fingers together in front of her in thought, a small smile forming. 'I see. If you change your mind then let me know.' She studies the little fox once more. 'They say foxes are clever... in storybooks, I mean. I guess that's true with you.' It wasn't necessarily a joke so much as a statement she considered true at this point. If the little fox wanted it to be seen as a joke, then so it would be.
With that, she carries herself and the books to a hidden back room and sets said books down. Traversing from the room that seemed almost carved at best into the library itself, forming a small bedroom for her kept safe by bookshelves, she departs to another hidden area just down the hall which led to some stone stairs and down into a garden.
The garden was fairly large, with a small bridge that went over a waterfall and babbling brook. Lit up by the artificial sky, a set of white picket fence trailed along the edges, separating it from not necessarily an edge, but perhaps nothing and everything if one looked over it. Flowers and vegetables of all kinds were grown here, and a bit farther away from the entrance was a little well that had a bucket.
Ava takes the time to prepare herself to work with the tools she needs before entering the garden. If she could hum, she likely would as she worked. It didn't take long for her to gather what she needs in a basket, including some water in a bottle from the well before she's off back up the stairs to the library interior once more.

still considering taking up canons for this blog, or maybe i'll just make a whole genshin sideblog. my only thing is i'm afraid my actual ocs i put so much love and time into will get glossed over, y'know?
i could always put a thing of 'canons only by request or mutuals only' type of thing, but yeah. i'mma be real i don't know which canons i'd even have the muse for.
She been enveloped in somebody's arms and it has her wiggling a bit, only to have an overwhelming sense of peace followed by the smell of mint. A form more or less envelops her own and a chin rests on top of her head.
"Khonsu?" "Hmm?" He asks, his hands finding her own. "Yes, my sun and stars?" The nickname never ceased to not leave her flustered. "Aren't you supposed to be out tonight?"
"I decided to come home early. Would you rather I didn't?" "N-No! Of course not. I just... didn't expect it." The slightest smirk appears on his features. "So you would rather me be unpredictable?" He teases. Sakura's face lights up then. "I-I mean..." "... Or would you prefer me to be mundane and ordinary?" At this point his teasing might be weird to normal people, but it was his tone that had her flustered.
"I'm waiting on an answer, my sun and stars...~" She doesn't know how to answer him and so she's left at his mercy, including a few kisses to her neck and eventually being dragged away for the night. In the end, she may not be able to win with him... but she also don't mind this outcome.

PROMPTS FROM FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH * assorted dialogue from the game, adjust as necessary
the scene is indescribable. countless buildings have been leveled, and part of the road has collapsed.
man, when it rains, it pours.
you just don't know when to quit, do you?
get away from her!
just shut the hell up and search!
this is so messed up. all of it. but i'm back now, [name]. i'm back.
it all started five years ago.
i couldn't believe my luck.
wish i could help, but never been motion sick. sorry.
i didn't join to be an errand boy. i joined up so i could be a hero.
you take one. i'll take the other.
home sweet home, right? tell me. how does it feel? i have no home, so i wouldn't know.
i wanted to greet you myself, to welcome you to our humble little town.
look at all this mud. it's never gonna come off.
any friends here you wanna see? maybe a girlfriend?
the taste reminds you of home.
could you keep up?
welcome home! come in! let me get a good look at you!
i can take care of myself.
i'd feel a lot better if i knew you'd found a good girl, one who'd make sure you didn't get into trouble.
you went into my room? you went through my stuff?
you could learn a lot from me.
big day tomorrow. we'll be leaving bright and early. you should get some rest.
it's just one photo. c'mon, where's the harm in that?
i'm not even close to burned out. not with all the training i've had.
we still have a long way to go.
try not to breathe it in if you can.
you said you wanted to be a hero.
i owe you one.
help me to understand this shit. tell me something that'll really make my blood boil.
why do i suddenly have a bad feeling about this?
ever since i was a child, i knew... i knew that i was different. that i was special. but not like this. not like this.
run away. you have to leave. you have to live.
you sick son of a bitch!
you promised you'd save me.
that's the last thing i remember. the rest is a blank.
not to sound like a broken record, but... it's really bothering me.
that bed's mine.
sorry. did i wake you?
there's just something i need to ask you. so can we talk?
can't believe i'm having this conversation with you... but here we are.
i thought we could just pick up where we left off, like nothing had changed, but i guess i was wrong.
less security than i thought.
guess things have changed.
you always did prefer to march to the beat of your own drum.
what we're doing's for the greater good.
any good restaurants? sights to see?
we hide in plain sight. get in, get close, get answers.
i'm so pumped for this!
i'd say we look the part.
i'm having second thoughts.
it's not like i had a choice! nothing else fit!
if you wanna drink with us, you're gonna have to lose the helmet.
are we fighting or what?
don't go dying on me. i demand another dance.
just play along.
i was kinda hoping we could talk business.
well, you won't go far with that attitude.
just shut up and play.
i'm too young to die!
you're way better at the whole "putting yourself in harm's way" thing.
i'm not sure that's something to celebrate.
excuse me? what's that supposed to mean?
the room is unlocked.
it's not me you should be worried about?
i never hated you, you know.
i'll wait out here. but make it quick.
knowing that the people we love aren't really gone? it doesn't make it any easier to let them go.
we've all experienced pain. we all have our regrets.
true strength comes from our ability to forgive, to forge ahead in the hope of making things right.
are you finished?
oh, what fun you had. tell me, though. was it worth it?
is what you're feeling even real?
your friend died in your arms and you didn't shed a tear.
i'll kill you.
fill your hollow heart with rage. let it engulf you. consume you.
your day of reckoning is here.
all i want is one thing: to keep the others safe.
your tears are empty.
you're just a puppet.
screw you!
let's finish this.
how could you turn your back on everything we stand for?
you have to promise not to look up.
take care.
i'll leave the rest to you. good luck.
@adventurous-fluffs:
"Ah, we don't use mana on our world. Magic more or less takes a physical toll on the body, for arcane casters anyway. It takes a lot of work to build up the mystic fortitude to cast the higher tier magics, and even then, we can only do so a few times in a day before we begin to fatigue ourselves." He would look around again at the library. A sentient intangible vault in the space between worlds. Studying here would certainly a nice way to spend the next while. He just didn't know the rules for the domain. After a moment though, he would silent cast Unseen Servant, creating a transparent butler next to him. "Could you get me volumes one through five of the arcane novice series." The butler would nod, vanish, and then shortly reappear with five books, offering them to Ava. Kabartmak would continue with telepathy to explain. "These are the first handful of tomes that the arcane students of my world typically use. They are enchanted to auto-translate, and should give a detailed breakdown of how the arcane functions where I am from."
Ava tilts her head. 'I see...' Some worlds were different, she supposed. She's quiet for the time being, observing his magic circle a bit more. Her curiosity satiated, she gets to her feet, only to have books brought to her. 'This will be something I read overnight then.' She wondered what time it was exactly according to the artificial sky... probably about four? She'd be winding down anyway soon to go pick some vegetables and start dinner.
She hesitates a moment but then glances at the fox. '... You are welcome to join me for dinner, if you like.' She glances around at the summoning room and then at him. 'You may get overwhelmed staying here, so... let me take you to another room that would be better for what you plan to do.' She gestures then and starts her walk back the way she had come to her 'main part', so to speak. A giant room with walls full of books. Hidden behind bookshelves and in a corner was her reading nook, but from where they walked, he wouldn't be able to see it quite yet.
Behind glass windows upon entering, they'd see the artificial sky. Outside, what appeared to be a sea of stars. While it looked real, Ava knew it was not. She takes a moment to head over and touching the wall, she's given access to change the sea of stars to a seaside town view as if it were simply a canvas of some kind. The waves lulled against the shore outside and seagulls flew overhead.
The afternoon colors of the sky were what gave a sense that, despite this place truly being of no time and space, Ava still was like any 'human' and lived by a schedule. A creature of habit? Perhaps, but definitely a person who lived by schedule.
@adventurous-fluffs:
This place was just getting more and more curious as he listened and saw things. They could probably spend days going through detail after detail in regards to just this place and his workshop. Her magic aura being somewhat unused was interesting too. Latent ability but potentially no teaching.. He would definitely offer her a book for beginner Wizards before he left. For now, he would begin gesturing to runes and symbols as he spoke of them. To those who only glanced at it, the magic circle would look like it was a jumbled mess of things, but the longer someone looked at it with understanding, the more all of its patterns and intricacies would make sense. "Most of the magic is for stabilization and security. It would be Very bad if the bridge-way collapsed while between worlds, or if something came back through without permission. I suspect it would leave the entity using the bridge adrift if it failed. . Here I have the runes for locating and locking on to targets, and the specification sequence for Worlds. I had to bypass it somewhat to have the bridge lead here." Moving around the circle, he would continue. "Here is the subsystem of runes for the phasing on the bridge-way. I believe this is the section we could study to determine if the phasing shares frequencies. Next to it is the base system for Plane Shift, the magic that allows mortals to move between the different planes of our world. The most common destinations are the Astral Plane, Ethereal Plane, the various Heavens, and the various Hells. My goal was, through this magic, to go even further beyond. . And I have had decent success so far."
She's quiet for most of his explanation, only speaking up once she's sure he's done for the moment; 'If someone were to get stuck between worlds, it's possible they might blip out of existence, or be trapped there until further notice.' She had read in books that such a thing was possible, in theory. She looks over the many runes and while she can't read them, she was positive there was a tome in the library that had these same texts for her to decipher said language.
'To move oneself through a plane of existence would require a lot of mana reserve as well as in theory, a lot of concentration due to the fact you could end up stuck in a wall or ingrained in the ground itself, yes?' She had never practiced this, but the books she had read followed these theories and the manuals for how to teleport from one place to another were... well, might as well use the same logic -- in her mind, at least.
The fact he had managed to have success in travelling so far had her curious. 'I would ask you what kind of places you've seen... but honestly, I might be able to help you further your research.' She gets to her feet and readjusts her ponytail. 'I don't think the Library would be against helping you to find further refinement tools among it.' She looks around as if asking it directly, and a low resonant hum seems to come from it, as if responding to her query. She pauses as if interpreting said hum and thinking to herself, she gives a small nod.
'In return, if you have information you can give the Library in return, then you may search the contents of this place.' She pauses to herself, a grimace of sorts; 'I should reintroduce myself. My name is Ava, and I am the Librarian here. It is my purpose, and this is my home. This place is vast collects not just books, but items from across the known planes and times of existence. The Library was surprised apparently that you managed to break through, but it deems you and your ambition of furthering your research for good as worthy of its aid.'
Yes, she was indeed confirming the Library was in fact a sentient being and it knew how to communicate with Ava in its own way. Ava seemed absolutely sincere in how she told this, no hint of a lie from her of any regard.
@adventurous-fluffs:
A non-physical space between worlds.. Well, there goes the demi-plane idea. But that was fine. The explanation was helping to piece things together. He would've followed her gaze to the various symbols, and started studying them while she was checking on something else. If there was anyone who could figure out what they either said or were for, it would be him. "It might actually make more sense if this place isn't tangible. Neither is the connection formed through my spell World Bridge. In theory, both should've allowed the other to phase through, but there is a chance they share phasing properties, which caused this to happen." Now seemed like a good a time as any, so the old fox would open his eyes, revealing incredibly amber irises, but also that his eyes held a soft blue glow from the magic sights he used. If Ava had a way to sense magic, it was now clear that Kabartmak suppressed his own magic aura while his eyes were closed. He would call forth a magic circle below them and step back so it could be viewed. It was the diagram he used when maintaining and adjusting the spell World Bridge. "This is the magic I used to get here. A higher tier variation of one called Plane Shift, I call this World Bridge. Can you read magic or would you like me to give you some spectacles that would allow one to do so?"
In using such an ability, Kabartmak would be privy to the fact Ava herself had an amount of magic that shouldn't be possible for her. In fact, she didn't seem to be suppressing it, letting alone be doing anything with it. It just hung in the air around her. The amount of magic she held was not as great as a god's, but it rivaled some more powerful magic-users.
She didn't seem to notice his eyes, only what he was saying. The gears in her head were turning as she thought carefully about him explaining in detail his 'World Bridge'. It was a fascinating subject, really. She knew all too well about the expansive multiple timelines and worlds that existed all around her, but she hadn't thought of a way to bridge between them.
But this fox clearly had. His question is answered once she absorbs the initial description of what he's saying; 'I'm familiar with reading magical texts, if that's what you're asking. I have to be.' She didn't elaborate further, instead choosing to move back a bit so she could see the full circle he conjured. 'Please, explain to me your magicks. I'm curious.'
@adventurous-fluffs:
"Yes. I said, apologies for the intrusion. I was testing a magic that bridges gaps between worlds, and the path seemed to be trying to go around something in the space between said worlds. Out of curiosity, I forced it to make a straight path, and instead of locking onto the world, it locked onto this place instead." The old fox would look around again. It seemed that there were more than just books here. He was a bit curious as to the function of this place, but that could be asked in due time. Best to make sure he didn't need to leave.
'I see.' Her gaze turns around to look at the vast library and she gets up, going to check at the place he had come from. It seems she's looking for something, although what that's for is her secret alone. If one looks closely, beneath items scattered around the edges, there's a set of symbols that form a circle with more symbols around them. If one hazarded a guess, it might be a place to summon things too. But the language itself would be unreadable to almost anyone who came through. Even Ava herself.
Getting up, she goes to check one more place that's hidden behind some bookshelves. A few minutes pass, and then she returns, looking stumped and not having any further answers to his question.
'... It's strange you would even find this place.' She starts. 'The Library is... not really tangible to be considered an obstacle when it comes to travelling magicks.' She thinks how best to explain. This Fox didn't seem like a bad person... or maybe just her cuteness aggression was clouding her judgment.
'Um... Would you like me to try and help you find a way home? It... may take some time, but it's not impossible.'
@multiverseofmischief:
He raises an eyebrow at her aggression, completely unfazed by it. His tails snake out of range of her jaws and he props his head up with his paw. “Since when does sleeping on one’s back spread eagled count as beauty sleep?” Oh, he’s playing with fire now. The smell of rain permeates through the courtyard, and he gives his daughter a sly smile. “To be fair, this is my house. Our house, I should say. I’m certain bothering my children is within my rights, no?”
"Oh fuck off!" She didn't swear often, surprisingly enough, but this definitely warranted it. She gives pause finally once he stops poking at her and she gives him a sour look instead. In some years, when it was time for her to leave home... The she-wolf looks away, frowning.
She... doesn't want to think about it.
"... You could've waited till I was awake at least..."

if my writing seems different, I'm trying out some different techniques and trying to adapt my writing to be a bit more descriptive. As a writer, I am constantly trying to grow, and the more descriptive I add, the more paragraphs people get out of me.
Hope that clears up any misunderstandings!
@adventurous-fluffs:
To the old fox, the girl's outfit looks a bit odd. He hadn't seen that style before, but this was another world... Or at least on its way to one. Styles would definitely vary from place to place. When she gestured to her ears and wrote out what he could read as Common, he assumed she couldn't hear, or that sounds in this place were muted. He seemed to stand there for a moment before the spell Telepathy kicked in. Even if they didn't have the same language, he could use magic to somewhat translate anyway, even through telepathy. He would essentially repeat himself, but be sure to start with, "Sorry about that. I am Kabartmak. Does this work?"
She comes to meet the fox at his level, kneeling down. As telepathy is activated, her voice comes through fairly clearly. To Kabartmak, her voice was soft, clear like a bell;
'It does.' She responds with a soft smile. 'You can call me Ava.' She shifts her weight a bit, blonde locks spilling over her shoulder. 'Can you repeat what you said?'

@adventurous-fluffs:
The testing of high level magic was always something that had to be done. Creation of such magics and the maintenance of their effects were something the old fox strived for. Granted, he had already made several, but the World Bridge was probably the most maintenance and test heavy of them all. Bridging the gap between extra-planar worlds was something only the gods had likely been capable of before now. Today's test was going well. The search for worlds was the first step, then locating a stable point of entry, and finally exploration. Something seemed a bit off though. The path there seemed to be trying to go Around something. . Were there spaces between the worlds he was over looking? Like a demi-plane but on a universal scale? He would try to force the path to go through what it had curved around. It struggled a bit at first, but did seem to get a lock on something. The lock was actually rather solid, so it would definitely place him Somewhere... Only one way to figure out what was going on though. With his defensive magics applied, Kabartmak would trigger the spell and be teleported to the location. After a moment, he would look around. A designated teleportation area.. And it was in a library? .. So it was probably an extra-planar vault of some kind. And there was someone here too. Nothing else for it then. He would being walking towards them, his eyes still closed but seemingly able to see just fine. "Apologies for the intrusion. I was testing a magic that bridges gaps between worlds, and the path seemed to be trying to go around something in the space between said worlds. Out of curiosity, I forced it to make a straight path, and instead of locking onto the world, it locked onto this place instead."
Ava's eyes, the color of a summer sky, observed Kabartmak with a very readable expression of restrained cute aggression. Noticing him walking towards her, she slowly steps out from behind the pile of books, revealing her form of about five two, long silvery blonde hair tied in a loose ponytail, and wearing a ornate blue and white dress with a few ruffles around the bodice as well as her boots with a slight platform to them. She looked like a girl who might have lived in the early nineteen hundreds with the way she dressed, but as it was, she was definitely in her late teens, if not early twenties.
His voice goes unheard, and seeing his small mouth moving, she gives him a minute to finish before pointing to her ears and shaking her head. Instead, she fumbles into a satchel she had strapped over her form, pulling out a notebook and a piece of charcoal. Carefully, she writes on the page and turns it around for him to read. The language is some form of English, but with the right magicks, it can be deciphered as such;
'Hello. I'm afraid for the moment I can't understand you. There's a way further in to translate, if you'd like to follow me? We can answer each other's questions once I get what I need.'
