Me when I lack basic reading comprehension skills
forgot I made this
Edelgard is such an odd character due to the fact that her writing was vague in a way that people pretty much project whatever they want onto her. Takes I’ve seen people make about her with 100% conviction (right or wrong):
She’s a capitalist
She’s a communist
She’s a tyrant dictator
She’s an enlightened despot
She’s a fascist
She creates a meritocracy (good)
She creates a meritocracy (bad)
She steps down from the throne after achieving her goals
She lives her whole life as emperor
Her s-supports with men are all platonic and she’s actually a lesbian
Her female s-supports are all platonic
She’s only in love with the protagonist
She doesn’t actually love the protagonist, she’s just manipulating them
She’s designed specifically to appeal to an LGBT+ audience
She’s mainly designed as waifu bait to appeal to straight men
She’s being controlled by the cult and doesn’t have a choice but to work with them
She’s in control of and willingly chose to work with the cult
Her lost siblings are a main motivator for her desire for power and change
Her siblings are a late addition to development and barely play a part in her motivations
She is the main/true hero of the game
She is the main/true villain of the game
She has thematic similarities to Napoleon Bonaparte/the Nazis
She has thematic similarities to the French resistance against the Nazis
She wants to force change for a brighter future
She wants to drag the continent back to the past when Adrestia was in charge
She’s racist for her dehumanizing language of the Nabateans and wanting them all dead
She’s not racist or wants the Nabateans dead, she just hates Rhea specifically
She hates the church and is in favor of religious persecution and government controlled religion
She is fine with faith, but wants to change the church from the ground up due to corruption
Her killing of Dimitri was a mercy kill
Her killing of Dimitri was dehumanizing
Her war was good because it would prevent more suffering in the long run
Her war was wrong because you can’t weigh the lives of the people now against the lives of people that do not exist yet
She is the reason that crests become less important in society
She didn’t need to do anything, crests where already becoming less important
Three houses was a mistake
When are these losers gonna understand that the base of all fire emblem games is “good royals vs bad royals”
Saw another zero reading comprehension Edelstan take, anyway hope this helps ♥️
Cringe Treehouse and its fail localization
EN translation:
Original Japanese:
WAS READING THE ENGAGE ARTBOOK AND SHOUT THE FUCK OUT TO THE MALE GRIFFIN KNIGHTS FOR WEARING THE SAME SLUTTY LITTLE HALTER NECK JUMPSUIT THAT BARELY EVEN REACHES MID THIGH AS THE WOMEN
Will S-Supports Return in FE: Engage?
Reasons for No:
• the leaks do not show an “S” on the menu that displays the support conversations
• the cero rating does not list the game as having romance (unlike three houses which did)
Reasons for Yes:
• the supports could work like it did in Three Houses between non-Byleth characters with an implied romantic A-Support and special ending cards
• the cero rating isn’t super accurate, as Rune Factory 5 (which has an entire dating and marriage system) also didn’t have romance listed as part of its contents
• the game designers making a game called Fire Emblem: Engage, with ring based power ups, a main character dressed primarily in white, and a My Castle area that appears to include a church, but NOT include S-Supports, will be the biggest missed opportunity imaginable
New crit animation dropped
Unpopular(?) opinion about the new fire emblem game: I genuinely like the new protagonist design. I think heterochromia and split colored hair look cool in general, I love designs that use the primary colors, and the artist (Mika Pikazo) is also the one that designed Sei Shonagon, one of my favorite characters in FGO. Whether I’ll like the game itself is up for debate though.
When you’re a fan of Cordelia/Camilla/etc. and have to deal with people making jokes about them for being the game’s Woman Obsessed with the Lord™, only for the newest member of this group to be considered “well written” and “an icon” because this time she’s a lesbian

Approaching you with the upmost respect and in good faith, since you seem to value logic and facts above bias. In a previous post you mentioned that war crimes by proxy are not a thing, i.e. Rhea cannot be held accountable for abuse of a corpse even though she promoted the use of relics. I fully agree with you. However, where does this leave the war crimes you indict Edelgard for that were actually Arundel’s doing? Particularly, war crime #5 (conscript or death). In your own receipts, Lysithea states “Lord Arundel did this in the name of Duke Aegir”. Surely, then, the crime lies with one of those individuals and not Edelgard? As any avid investigator of 3h lore would know, Edelgard is subservient to Arundel, not the other way around; but that is even beside the point, as Arundel doing something at Aegir’s request does not seem to implicate Edelgard in the slightest. It’s not as if Edelgard was the one to give the order to either of those men—though even if she somehow had, if Rhea is not accountable for abuse of a corpse by merely advocating for abuse of a corpse, then similarly, Edelgard would not be accountable for conscript or death by merely advocating for conscript or death. At least, that is how the logic appears to me. Again, though, I find it unlikely Edelgard was involved in what appears to be a dealing between Arundel and Aegir alone; at the very least, no evidence has been produced to prove she was. And, not to overload this ask, but I believe the same could be said for war crimes #6 and #7 (biological experimentation and biological warfare) as Edelgard herself was not personally responsible for such things. Again, your own receipt has Hanneman referring specifically to TWSITD running the experiments, not Edelgard herself. As is made clear in the game multiple times over, TWSITD control Edelgard, not the other way around. Anyway, I would love to hear your thoughts and I appreciate any discussion you might be able to bring to this question.
Thank you for the ask, though I still think it’s funny that I’m now a War Crimes Expert when I just like doing research. Starting off:
Rhea is never actually seen promoting the use of Heroes Relics. There are only one place where she talks about the use of relics outside of the sword of the creator. This is the event “The Lance of Ruin” where she never says anything positive about it. She talks about how the price for using a relic without a matching crest will cause the user to turn into a black beast and that this knowledge should be kept hidden or else it would cause chaos across Fodlan. Then (if you don’t return it) Rhea will make Sylvain swear to never use the Lance for evil and to never allow anyone else to use it, so that the prior tragedy doesn’t happen again.
One reason Rhea cannot be held accountable for the use of relics as their use began before she attained any power. Nemesis begins his conquest prior to Imperial Year -41, Seiros first appears in -41, Nemesis is killed in 91, and the war officially ends in 98. Nemesis and his crew had over 100 years to establish themselves as heroes with superpowered blood and weaponry. The developers themselves said that Rhea couldn’t just write over human perspective and so had to work around the already prevailing beliefs. There is also the problem that there are no nobles in church territory, so there are no nobles she has the right to give orders to. Rhea (like the real life pope) can say whatever she wants, but that doesn’t mean anyone not under she jurisdiction (church members) has to listen to her. An example of this would be on Twitter, where there were people quoting Bible passages in opposition to Pope Francis because he said everyone needs to work together to end poverty.
As for Edelgard, I don’t believe her to be subservient to Arundel. If anything, the writing makes it seem more like Edelgard is the one in charge. For one, having Arundel as a regent and noble under her command makes him her subordinate. She has zero issues giving Arundel commands, threatening Thales to his face, and attempting to kill Solon and Kronya. She was even surprised when there were consequences for killing Cornelia. When you defeat Cornelia her (Japanese) quote even says that Edelgard was the one in control. In the case of Ferdinand and Lysithea’s paralogue, Lysithea states: “Aegir was dismissed from his position, only to be replaced by Lord Arundel”. During the Coronation Event, Edelgard is the one to dismiss Lord Aegir and put him under house arrest. She then appointed Lord Arundel in his place.
As for whether Edelgard can be held responsible for Lord Arundel and TWSITD’s crimes, Rule 153 of the International Committee of the Red Cross states: Commanders and other superiors are criminally responsible for war crimes committed by their subordinates if they knew, or had reason to know, that the subordinates were about to commit or were committing such crimes and did not take all necessary and reasonable measures in their power to prevent their commission, or if such crimes had been committed, to punish the persons responsible.
at one point, if you choose the correct dialogue option on Azure Moon, Dimitri says he has killed children. Is that a war crime?
It sort of depends. It’s rather vague whether these children were civilians or child soldiers which lead to different issues.
If they were civilians, then it falls under the “wilful killing of civilians” war crime. It’s unlikely that this is the case. As all instances of Dimitri killing have been directed at Adrestian soldiers, there’s no evidence of him having attacked civilians in game so he’s not guilty of this war crime in this instance.
On the other hand, if they were child soldiers then that itself falls under the war crime of “recruiting and using children under the age of 15 as soldiers”. There are only three instances of this in game that I am aware of. The first is Cyril, who you can recruit and use a month before his 15th birthday. The second is Almyra in general, as we know from Cyril that they regularly employ child soldiers. Lastly, there is Adrestia, evidenced by Fleche. Glenn was knighted at age 15, which what considered young, but Rodrigue considered Fleche too young to be fighting which implies that she is under 15. On CF, Fleche is introduced as a new recruit meaning that Adrestia would be employing those younger than 15. However, as child soldiers are a staple of the fire emblem series, I feel that it would be unfair to count that against any of the characters.
Finally, though he never follows through on it, at one point Dimitri advocates genocide on Adrestia ("And you see how that woman...how the Empire cannot be forgiven. That we must wipe them all out until not a single one of them remains...") Does incitement to genocide count as a warcrime?
Guess I finally got the second half.
Also no, wanting to do a war crime does not count as a war crime. Do you know how many people on tumblr would get arrested if just saying shit could be counted as a crime?
