Touching the past.
Such a strange experience, one that will become all the more common among humans and especially in the alliance countries where technology is constantly integrating with humanity.
This account goes back six years, somehow the posts it contains especially the earlier ones feel so much older. But there was a time even before those posts, you see this account was not a tumblr account originally. It was a Xanga blog, back when wordpress was for personal use more than a business CMS tool. High school angst, the slow march of being behind the social curve in evolution compared to peers. Yet always finding myself ahead of them in other areas. Balance, age, made it all a wash. What is important, to me at least, is that such archives exist. Public or otherwise these places serve as an opportunity to revisit the past for oneself and to share it with others. Preserving those moments is valuable, sharing them would be even more so.
Recognize that even today, people have lived their entire lives with a digital foot print. That their existence has been tied to non-physical realm of communication and value. And that as times goes on this compounds with generations. Children of those same people start to gain more understanding and ability to use technology, seeking more they find the archives of their parents. Weird to consider but remember that youtube is twelve now and blogging came before that, and email even earlier. I’m too young to know the early BBS and chat days, orginal irc back when the internet was only on when you dialed into it.
But alas too much wandering is unproductive, or as someone else I follow puts it “all this looking back makes my neck hurt.”
