Radiohead: Head to Head, december 2000
Steve: You go on a stage, and sometimes itās happened to me when Iāve gone on and introduced bands, and you just see someone gesticulating at you, and you canāt look away.
Ed: (laughs)
Thom: But thatās great, thatāsā¦. I love that, itās like when I getā¦.personally when I get to do my wandering stuff, you know Iāve really got into just walking around just looking at people, and making no attempt to perform in any way at all, and just looking at them, and sometimes you get stuck on somebody, and you just look at them, and it takes them quite a while to figure out that, you know, youāre staring at them, and then to see what their reaction is, itās just brilliant. Sometimes people just donāt give a shit, and theyāre like āwhat?ā (laughs)
Steve: You looking at me?! You looking at me?!
Thom: And sometimes they sort of look away and sometimes theyāll make rude signs at you, brilliant.
Steve: I mean, I suppose itās odd, do they look over their shoulder āis he looking at me?ā
Thom: Itās so much better thanā¦..itās so much better than like, you know, Iād love to be able to do it walking down the street, but you know, you canāt really stare at people when you walk down the street, although I do tend to. I mean, you sort of get away with it more when youāre on stage, they canāt really answer back, itās brilliant.
Steve: Everything you canāt do on a tube train.
Thom: Exactly that.
Reblogging again. I was reminded of his staring habit during this recent AFP tour, so Iām glad he acknowledges this and Iām not completely crazy.
