>>Masterlist
Your band was playing at a local jazz club. You were in love with the guitarist. You loved watching him from where you played the drums. Heâs what initially got you into the band. You met him in high school, and you've been tight ever since. You had told Wooseok your feelings for him two months after knowing him. He had rejected you, but still kept you close. Your advances never led you anywhere. Wooseok had always found a way to turn you down nicely.Â
You were on a roof after a long day at school. Wooseok was looking at the pink sky, âWhy do you keep hurting yourself like this?â You pressed your lips together, unsure what to say to him. Because you couldnât give up? Because he still kept you around?Â
âDunno?â You looked away from his direction. This all felt too invasive to you, but he didnât pry any more than he needed to. He just left the conversation the way it was. You havenât talked to him about your feelings. Since then, there has been some distance between the two of you. You had distanced yourself from him at first, but then the two of you didnât talk as much as you did before.Â
At the meeting before the performance, Hui, Yuto, and you were waiting for Wooseok to come around. He was later than usual without a warning. When he did come, it was already late, but he was beaming. There were ushered voices before he brought out this girl. Your heart sank as soon as you saw her, and them together. You looked at how he treated her with so much care and protectiveness. You were pointing out all of the differences between you and her. The others seemed so caught up in meeting her that no one barely noticed when you slipped away from the group.
Only then did you let your tears flow. It was unfair, so unfair. You didnât even know that they were talking. You have seen her around campus and in some of your classes, but she has always been a background character to you. Your heart hurt, and your face was stained. You wanted to do nothing more than go back to your dorm and cry. You knew he didnât like you like that, so why did your heart hurt so much?Â
You stopped answering texts from your friends, bandmates, and especially from him. There was so much going on inside your head, and you didnât want to perform at the club anymore with them. You didnât want to meet her as his. You didnât want to see them together. Now you understand why he asked you why you hurt yourself. Now you know that he knew. Your roommate barely got to get you out of your bed to go to classes. Life felt like a tunnel with no light on the other side.Â
.Â
You had put on a messy outfit with some see-through black tight jeans shorts, and a shirt with the collar cut off. Your makeup wasnât your best either. You would be in the back of the stage, so none of it would matter to you or the audience. You reviewed the songs a few times, trying to avoid people.Â
Hui walked up to you, tapping your shoulder. You took off your headphones to look at him. âYou canât spend your whole time avoiding us. We arenât going to sound good if one of our people is upset. You know youâre his best friend, too.â He smiled at you to make it seem more genuine, but you couldnât. You ignored the part about Wooseok. You didnât want him to exist in your mind longer than he had to.Â
âThereâs no way that I canât be upset, but I can give it my all. You know that.â You looked at him, tears welling up. You had been crying all week and were about to cry again. You blinked the tears away. âWeâve got two minutes, letâs go.â
The performance went by quickly, the band was in harmony, and all was good. The entire performance, your head was down, not looking at anyone; there was no way you could face anyone at that moment. Even receiving applause, your eyes drifted to the neon lights on the brick wall, putting on your best smile. Getting off stage, you ran to pack your things up. You would have to stay to watch others perform to avoid being rude. Besides, they would take a picture of the most well-received performers. The picture was part of the reason why your group was here.Â
You made your way over to the bar, sipping on some sodas before you started mixing them. You didnât care about where the rest of your group was. The thought that they were probably with Wooseok and whatever her name is was enough to make you avoid them. Time was killing itself while you sat by yourself. When a guy sat next to you, you were about to ask for another drink. You had seen him earlier on stage; he had such a soothing voice. You gave him a brief smile before turning back. âHey,â you were slightly buzzed. The guy smiled back at you.
 âHey,â He moved closer to you, accepting the invitation. âRough night tonight?â His interest and your need to spill out your guts fused. You spent the rest of the time talking to this stranger, letting him listen to you and your current dilemma. Eventually, all of your talk became less and less as you stared at the guy more. You hadnât asked his name, although now it seemed like an important detail. You leaned into him more now, smiling at him in a flirty way. The night was about to take a turn for you.
â
Wooseok liked you, as a friend, he was sure of. He liked the time he spent with you. It was that comfortable silence that you can't have with just anyone. Putting any emotion other than agape felt wrong to him. The friendship was in a perfect picture frame that he could always look up to. He always got a little scared when you would bring your feelings up to him. His heart would race a little, but he would still turn you down. There was fear that because of his rejection, you would leave him, but you didnât. It bothered him. Why? Why not just find someone new? But at the same time, he was glad. Glad he could keep you in the picture frame.Â
When a girl from one of his classes approached him, he was excited for the new type of attention. He wasnât used to it, but he could get used to it. He talked to her more and more after classes. He didnât say much to you about her, scared that he would still ruin what he had with you.Â
Thatâs how it was in the beginning. Later, he grew to like her just enough to accept her feelings. She became so precious to him. She had this way about her that he felt she needed to be sheltered. He needed something new in his life. Even if that ânewâ wasnât you. He would be lying if he said he didnât notice how your face turned sour when he introduced his girlfriend. Or how irritable you were after. He had just guessed that you would get over it eventually. Maybe try to be happy for him. He ignored your feelings and tried to ignore you when you came to the venue, slightly messy. The outfit fit the concept, but it wasnât the best you could give, and he knew it.
He had someone to finally look forward to seeing in the crowd. He finally had someone to get him flowers and sit back and enjoy the other performances with. He did think of you sitting next to him and eating the snacks that the venue would lay out. The two of you would laugh and joke about the little things in life. You were always behind him, and to look back at you would be to admit he missed you by his side.Â
When the results came in for who got the most applause, it was no surprise to Wooseok that it was yours. He and Jiyoo jumped off their seats, he hugging her while scanning the club for you. He would normally find you anywhere, but here he couldnât. You knew there would be a group photo, so why werenât you there?Â
Wooseok put his hand on Jiyooâs shoulder, looking her in the eye, âIâll be right back, promise.â Jiyoo just looked up at him, her eyes shiny, and nodded. She wasnât an idiot; everyone knew that the two of you stuck together. So when she watched Wooseok look for you in the bar, then go outside, she slumped in her chair. Jiyoo twirled her hair, looking at her feet.Â
She had argued with Wooseok just for him to bring her to a practice. She knew youâd be there, and she wanted to send a message. She did something that you could never do. Now, it seemed sort of pointless to her.Â
Wooseok walked outside the door, expecting to find you crouched down somewhere. Instead, he found you pushed up against a wall with another performer. Something burned when he saw that guyâs hand in your hair and his legs parting yours. Watching the two of you kissing almost felt dirty, so he left. Wooseok ran his hands through his hair. He took a deep breath before walking through the doors of the jazz club. He met eyes with Jiyoo; he would have felt bad about how he left her, but his gut was still churning.
âI couldnât find her after all,â he looked at her and smiled. She was his space, so why was his stomach still tight? âYou should take the picture in her place.â Jiyoo finally met his eyes, and her smile grew wide.
___
You were on top of Hyungguâs lap in his car. He pulled away from you, a hand in your hair. He looked you straight in the eye as you licked your lips, looking down at him. âDo you want to come home with me?â You nodded at him. He smiled back at you, and Hyunggu picked up his hand to wipe your smeared lipstick. âYou already know I want to hear words come out of this pretty mouth.âÂ
You searched his eyes, a small smile appearing on your lips, âYes.â He pulled you off his lap and onto the passenger seat. He reached over to you to fasten your seatbelt. You took notice of his cologne, its sweet floral smell.Â
When you arrived at his place, you were puking your guts in his bathroom. Hyungguâs hand was on your back, slowly rubbing it; the other was holding your hair away from your face. You were burnt up with embarrassment. This is not how you had imagined spending the night with him. You couldnât fill the image of the âbaddieâ girl you were impersonating.Â
You waited in the bathroom, knees as close to your chest as you could, waiting for hyunggu to come back. He was looking for a spare, anything. He assured you that you could stay the night still, as long as you showered. He came back into the bathroom with some spare comfortable clothes and a spare toothbrush. You smiled up at him, getting up from the floor. âThank you, you donât know how much this means to me.âÂ
âItâs nothing really.â He scratched behind his head. The two of you stared at each other for a brief second. A small laugh bursts out between the two of you. âI guess Iâll leave you to it. Feel free to use anything.â With that, he walked out the door, making sure to close it softly. He made you feel so at home with him. You adored his attention, but your mind still wandered to Wooseok. What would it feel like if Wooseok were in Hyungguâs shoes? If he kissed you and touched you in the same ways Hyunggu did?Â
You found yourself in Hyungguâs bed. He wanted you to sleep there, for the inconvenience, and you thought you were already too much of an inconvenience for him. The two of you ended up sharing the bed. This way, it didnât seem like you were just taking from him. The two of you together smelled like soap, but you could still get the sweet floral smell that you had gotten a whiff of in the car. The two of you faced one another, once again staring.
He started talking, and you followed. He wanted to know more about you, and you let him in. He was funny and personable. You loved his smile the most and the way his body language was so expressive. It all began to feel so natural. He could have been your best friend. He can be your best friend. You turned to him, the two of you on your backs. You inched near him and lay your head on his chest. Somehow, this felt more intimate than the touches the two of you shared at the club. You closed your eyes, took in a deep breath, and let go. Falling asleep was never easier.Â
______
The two of you found yourselves tangled up in limbs in the morning. His breathing was soft. You studied his features for a brief moment before his eyes opened. He gave you a lazy smile, âGood morning, sunshine.âÂ
âGood morning.â The two of you shuffled out of bed, brushed your teeth, and went to the kitchen of his flat. Your phone is long forgotten in your purse. You watched Hyunngu as he found his way around his kitchen, cooking a meal for the two of you. You smiled at him; he looked so nice like this.Â
âHey, would it be okay if I kept these clothes for a bit? I donât want to go home in last nightâs dress.â Hyunggu looked you up and down.
âI guess I wonât miss those, not if youâre the one wearing them.â He looks back at you one more time before his attention is back on the food.Â
___
Wooseok called you countless times last night and this morning. Still, there was no response. He ran his fingers through his hair again. How could you go home with a stranger? He couldn't get the image of you pushed up against the wall out of his head. He shook his head, blinking a couple of times. He needed to see you to make sure that you were okay.Â
He grabbed his key,s rushing over to your studio apartment. You had given him a key months ago; it was a small advance you gave him. He took it, telling you that he would only need it for emergencies. He kept dialing your phone number. He listened to it ring, and when it stopped, he rang it again. When he opened the door, you werenât there. There were your hot tools and makeup still lying around from yesterday. He scanned your way of living; it was messier than he remembered. He frowned, cleaning your space for you while he waited.
When the front door opened, he stood quiet freezing in place. He heard the sound of your laughter at the door. He heard the guyâs voice too, but he couldnât make out the conversation. He felt himself getting sicker and sicker. His hand flew to his mouth as he stumbled to the bathroom. Hearing you and him interact while picturing the way that guy had his hand on you. It was too much for him to bear.
On the other side of the studio apartment, you swayed. You didnât want to leave Hyungguâs presence. Your skin was fine the way his hand touched your shoulder and grazed your skin as he let his arm fall at catch at your waist. You wanted to thank him for letting you stay over; you needed to thank him. You reached up to his cheek and gave him a soft peck. Your face turned red, and you turned to the side.Â
âUhm, thatâs my thank you for last night. I really appreciate all that you did for me. Call me, okay?â You made a calling gesture with your hands. He made you nervous; that was good. Youâre one step away from getting rid of Wooseok from your head. It was overdue anyway.Â
âOf course, how else would I get my clothes back?â Hyunggu smiled, and he tugged on the joggers that he had lent you. You looked up at him, maybe wanting him to take his clothes off of you, but that was too forward. His hand sat on your hip. He was touchy with you, and you liked that. âBut I am going to need a real kiss.â He had a coy smirk on his face. His other hand cupped your face and closed the space between the two of you. The kiss was passionate and lasted for a good minute. He stared into your eyes before bidding you goodbye.
He left you breathless and alone in your flat with your heart racing. Only when he was gone did you notice that the atmosphere was off? You looked around at your flat. Your familiar messiness was gone. Did you clean the place? You went to step forward in your apartment and tripped on a shoe. You knew who it was, but why was he here? You know you missed out on the group last night and hadnât checked your phone. But did it really matter? He had his girlfriend, so why were you still his priority?
You looked around for him. Everything was neat, and surprisingly, where you like it. You peeked around into your bathroom and found him brushing his teeth, with a toothbrush he had forgotten at your place. He looked at you blankly, looking for something. âIâll be in my room.â You closed the door behind you, putting away the clothes from last night with the rest of your dirty clothes. You took the chance to lift Hyungguâs sweater to your nose. You just wanted more of that sweet smell. You could get addicted to it if you tried. You set your phone on the charger and looked at the hundreds of missed calls from your bandmates.Â
Hui had sent you the picture that you were supposed to take with the las night. You couldnât help but notice that Wooseokâs girlfriend was in your spot. He had his arm around her waist, and her head was on his chest. Your lip began to quiver. Why? Why not you? Why her? And why did he have to come over to your place when he replaced you last night?Â
He could say you replaced him, but it wasnât the same. You picked the shirt back up to your nose again. His smell made you feel better; the time with him felt like putting aloe vera on a sunburn. It was cool and refreshing to the stinging pain. You sat up against your pillows in your bed, closing your eyes. You sat there reimagining the events of last night. You felt a dip on the bed, you wished it were Hyunggu. You wished it were someone who could make you feel better about everything.Â
You opened your eyes and turned to Wooseok. âIâm sorry about not picking up your calls.â You werenât. But you could tell that he was worried about you. For the first time, Wooseok examined you. You werenât wearing the dress, but some other clothes that fit you loosely. They werenât yours. He reached out his hand to you, feeling the material.Â
âDid you fuck him?â you swear your head never whipped around so fast. You didnât expect that from him. He was looking at you seriously,y though. He was subconsciously leaning closer and closer to you.Â
âExcuse me? No!â You were seriously offended. Even if he heard or saw you at the front door. Why and How? And since when have you been a person who takes things so casually? Last night was different, though, you were under the influence. You might as well have been this mornin',g too, but that wasnât the point. âDonât you think Iâd have more self-respect for myself?â You turned away from his body. You could not stand him right now.Â
Wooseok moved his position on the bed closer to you. He held your cheek, in making you face him. Your face was hot, and you swallowed. âI didnât mean it like that. I should know you better.â
Your gaze went down. âI guess youâre right, sorryâ, Wooseok mumbled. There was a brief moment of awkwardness between the two of you. âI guess I, uh, should leave.â He got off the bed, and you followed him to the door. You looked up at him, as he still looked at you, tearing you apart piece by piece.Â
âThank you for coming over and cleaning up.â His lip curved up a bit, and he nodded in response. You closed the door on him and sighed with relief. Wooseok stared at the door for a bit. He noticed a tightening pain in his chest, and he held you dear to his heart. He knew he was holding back from you. He could have said so much more, held you. He wanted to hold you, your head on his chest as he would hum a tune. He shook his head leaving your building.Â
____________
You hadnât talked to Wooseok all week; he was probably busy with his girlfriend anyway. You had found yourself hanging out more and more with Hyunggu. Most often, you would stay at his place,e and the two of you would enjoy each otherâs presence while studying and such. You knew you had band practice later today, but you avoided it all. You felt ashamed that you missed the picture, or maybe it was because you didnât want to face Wooseok.Â
âHyunggu, do you want to go to band practice with me?â You turned your head to face him. You were on the couch in his apartment, while he was in the kitchen. You suddenly got nervous after asking the question. What if it was too forward?
âI donât see why not?â Hyunggu got out of his seat, bringing his workspace over to you. âIt would be a good excuse to show me off.â He had a smirk on his face. He was having fun with this. He would be a liar if he said he didnât see the way you looked that night and looked at Wooseok. He would be a liar if he said he didnât see Wooseok catching the two of you. Hyunngu liked the thought of him being the one to occupy all of your time. He stared at you and played with your hair.
____
Hyunggu drove you to the band meeting. You were fidgeting in the car, playing with your fingers or drumsticks. You almost felt guilty that you had shown out like this. Hyunggu placed a hand on your thigh, causing you to look at him. He smiled softly at you.Â
You walked into Huiâs houseâs front door and traveled down to the basement, where the groupâs setup usually was. You were a bit early to the meeting, as you usually were. Hui greeted the two of you and briefly talked with Hyunggu about Hyungguâs performance that night. You hadnât really taken in too much detail about it. Hui looked back at you, smiling and giving you a wink. Yuto soon arrived, then Wooseok. When Wooseok walked in, you were sitting leaning on Hyunggu on the couch while discussing ideas and thoughts for the group's new song.Â
Wooseok sat next to Yut,o giving you and Hyunggu a glare. He turned over to Yuto, talking shit about you bringing a guy to practice as if he hadnât brought his girlfriend to practice a few weeks prior. It wasnât the same for him. He was involved with someone in the right way when you were bringing this boy that you had⊠touched. Wooseok cursed himself for the image popping up in his head. He had been replaying that moment in his head; he needed a way to express his feelings.Â
The rest of the practice was like a fever dream. You tried your best on the drums, eventually getting back into the rhythm that you had been missing with the group. You tried not to look at Kino watching you play the whole time.Â
â
It was a couple of days before you saw Wooseok again. The entire friend group had been busy lately. Little hangouts here and there, but you didnât mix with Wooseok. You had guessed that everyone caught on with the tension that had been spreading in the group. Besides, you were slowly letting Kino into your little circle of friends.Â
The one time that you were without Kino is when Wooseok pulled you to the side. Okay, maybe not that dramatically, but that's what it felt like. He came walking up next to you. He stayed quiet for some time; his height was sort of intimidating. You usually didnât mind it, but this time it felt different. âSo Hyunggu huh?â
âYou mean Kino,â you responded to him, looking up to him a bit surprised that he called Kino by his government name. You could feel the judgment and distaste that Wooseok had for Hyunggu.Â
âYeah, whatever he likes to be called. Anyways, why did you leave early that night? And how did you even meet that guy?â Wooseok asked. His hands were shoved into his pockets, and his face was turned away from you. You could hear when he scrunched his nose in the middle of his sentence.
When he spoke, your heart collected in your chest. Pride that was never there when it came to him was now prominent. âHow I met him is none of your business. Besides the night at the bar, I got caught up in something and had to leave early.â Wooseok scoffed, a clear protest to your response. He mumbles something incoherent and runs his hand through his hair before walking away.Â
-
The next time the band met up for practice, Hyunggu was with you. Something was different this time, when you werenât playing the drum, Hyunggu had to be touching you in some way. He was giving you the most attention and rubbing it in Wooseokâs face. You saw the way Hyunggu would look up at smirk at Wooseok as if telling Wooseok that he could not do anything about the way that Hyunggu was touching you.Â
Wooseok didnât help the situation either. It was obvious that Hyunggu was getting under his skin, the way that Wooseok was playing his instrument. Roughly as if he was letting all of his anger out on his instrument. Even when Hui told Wooseok to stop striking the strings of his guitar so loudly.
âOnly band members should be allowed at practice,â Wooseok says, the anger showing through his voice. Hyunggu looked up, smirking at Wooseokâs comment, even if it did hurt Hyungguâs agenda.
âI can respect that,â Hyunggu replies, letting his arm snake around your shoulder. âThe rule starts next practice, right?â
âYes, it does, and this practice is over.â Hui finally spoke up, his voice a bit more stern than usual. You started shuffling to pack up, not wanting to see what an angry Hui would look like. You also gave Hyunggu a glare while packing your things. You meant it as a warning for him not to start anymore, but it seemed to tick him off a little. He tried hard not to show his annoyance in front of Wooseok, but you could tell that Hyunggu was irritated.Â
The two of you left together anyway, Hyungguâs hand gripping your shoulder as you walked out of the basement. You watched Hyunggu as his breathing got irregular and his eyes darted from place to place. He didnât say a word until the two of you got into his car. âWhy didnât you defend me? You just gave me a look. You know you could have encouraged Wooseok to bring his partner around. Couldnât you make it seem like you like me, just even a little bit?â Hyunggu lashes out, his voice hurt.
Your mouth ran dry for a moment. âI donât want to make the space uncomfortable for either of my band matesâŠâ That was honestly the best excuse that you could come up with. It was true that you did not want to see Jiyoo. You didnât like her either, and you know her attitude could get just as bad as Hyungguâs. âAnd Iâm not just talking about Wooseok. Hui is getting pretty annoyed too, and heâs never like that! Yuto doesnât speak much, but you can tell heâs more awkward than usual.â You sighed. You didnât want to argue with Hyunggu.
âYou still didnât answer my question- no, my request. Can you make it seem like you like me? I mean, what even are we? We always follow each other around everywhere we go. Canât we say weâre dating? Canât I at least call you mine?â Hyunggu said, redirecting your face so that you could look him in his eyes. He seemed desperate to a point. His eyes peered into your soul, looking for the answer that he wanted.
You felt kind of stunned at Hyungguâs request. You hadnât given it much thought either. For a while, he was someone whom you were relying on for comfort or to forget that crush you had. âI was waiting for you to ask me.â You said in a timid voice. Half of that was true, but you had to cover up the rest. âHow else am I supposed to know you want that type of relationship with me if you donât express it to me?â
âIsnât that what I am doing now?â Hyunggu shot back at you with attitude.
âYeah, I guess so.â You said, lowering your gaze to your hands on your lap. You took some time before you spoke again. âWeâre dating now, right?â
âYeah, let me drop you off at your place,â Hyunggu said, finally starting the engine and driving off.Â
â-
All that was on Wooseokâs mind lately was Hyungguâs possessive hand. Wooseok wondered if he had been like that at any point. He hated the way Hyunggu would flaunt the way he had you wrapped around his finger. Wooseok didnât trust Hyunggu; he rubbed Wooseok the wrong way. Besides, he still couldnât get the image of the two of you kissing outside the bar out of his head. The fact that you still denied what you did that night got him angry.Â
Wooseokâs imagination was vivid. Your exposed skin against the cool brick. The way Hyungguâs hand brushed your hair back so he could hold your face. Wooseok remembered holding your face in his hand when he would tease you, now wondering how it would feel in a different context. He shook his head. The thought of it made him feel guilty. Guilty for rejecting you in some way and guilty that heâs imagining you like this now without your permission.Â
He was at a cafe with Jiyoo, his girlfriend. She stared at him as she sipped the drink he bought for her moments ago. She could tell he was deep in thought. He hadnât said much since they got ot the cafe. Just small touches here and there, he was polite, and that was it. Nothing more than politeness, it bothered her. âSeokie,â she said with a pout. Wooseok hummed in a response. She didnât lose hope and continued. âWhen are you gonna invite me over?âÂ
âYou wanna go over to my place? I guess we could have dinner there tonight.â He commented as if it was no big deal to let her over his place. Jiyoo smirked, finally being able to spend more time with her boyfriend. She looked down at her straw, stirring it in her cup. She played the role of the perfect girlfriend for the rest of their small date.
-
When Jiyoo came over later that night, she made sure to dress cutely. He had commented on the style before. She rang the doorbell of his apartment and waited for him to open the door, checking her makeup in her hand mirror. She could smell what he was cooking from even outside the door. Wooseok answered it shortly after with a goofy smile on his face. She smiled back at him. This was the Wooseok that she liked. The one who was in the present and not afraid to be himself. He made a quick comment about how pretty she looked before he rushed back to the kitchen.
âThe foodâs not ready yet. Make yourself comfortable, please,â Woosseok said from the kitchen space. Jiyoo walked in, sliding her shoes off. She headed toward the kitchen area, where she could now get a better look at what Wooseok was wearing. He was dressed more casually than she was. She walked up to him and wrapped her arms around his waist, giving him a back hug.Â
âI missed you,â she said with another pout.
âYou just saw me a couple of hours ago,â Wooseok replied with a light laugh. Jiyoo could tell that he had let his guard down. She let her hands slip up his shirt, putting her face into his back. Wooseok blushed and shifted his weight. âYou should sit down, Iâll plate your food.â
Jiyoo bit her lip as she detached herself from her boyfriend. She took the rejection and sat down with it. For her, dinner was boring. She kicked her food around with her fork and ate it little by little. She listened to Wooseok talk about his classes and how boring they were. Then he talked about an event for his band that was coming up. Another artist night at another bar. Although he didn't seem too excited this time when he was talking about it. Like he was trying to avoid something.
âCan I come see you practice sometime before the big show?â Jiyoo asked, looking at Wooseok. Their eyes met before he broke contact and looked down.Â
He looked back at her after a moment. âWe canât bring partners to practice anymore.â Wooseok sounded nervous.Â
Jiyoo scoffed, âAnd who invented that stupid rule? Was it Y/N?â Jiyoo rolled her eyes. She figured that you wouldnât want to see her at practice. Jiyoo knew of the small crush that you had on Wooseok. When Jiyoo looked back up at Wooseok, he looked guilty. âWhat? What is it?â
âI made that rule. I got sick of that man at our practice; he killed the vibe.â Wooseokâs voice got agitated as he remembered the way that Hyunggu annoyed him. He shivered.Â
âWhat man?â Jiyoo asked, curious. She hadnât heard Wooseok speak of someone new in the band.
âSome singer that Y/N has been bringing around. He's obnoxious.â Wooseok waved off the air.
Jiyoo pushed further. âSo what does that matter? Why ruin it for me in the process?â
âIt wasnât about you at the time,â Wooseok said, looking away.Â
âSo then what was it about? Y/N and her new interest? Why do you care anyways Wooseok? You said you didnât even like her that sheâ Am I really falling for this stupid shit? Who fucking cares. You have me. Thatâs how you should feel.â Jiyoo could feel herself getting heated standing up from her chair.Â
Wooseok couldnât think of anything fast enough to make her stay. He knew he was wrong. Thatâs why the only emotion he had been able to feel for the last was guilt. Jiyoo looked at him squinting her eyes before she looked away turning her body away from him. âI canât even believe you, Iâm done. Weâre done. Iâm not waiting around for nobody.â She said grabbing her things and walking out the door.Â
Wooseok sat there staring at the door, her plate, his plate. The way that the food looked so sticky and slimy now. Everything around him lost itâs appeal.Â
He ate the food.
-
The sticky, slimy feeling dragged itself through Wooseokâs insides. Every time he was at practice. Every time he saw Hyungguâs car waiting for you. Every time he saw your smile while leaving. His fingers couldnât keep up with the movements of the strings. He could feel Hui start to get annoyed at him.
Wooseok hadnât told anyone about his breakup with Jiyoo yet. How could he when she left his apartment like that the other day? He missed his best friend. He missed having someone to talk to about his worries. Someone who would make him laugh. Someone who was too busy laughing with someone else and avoiding him. Any point that Wooseok got, he would watch you, your movements. The way that you carried yourself in your new relationship. The way your movements became the tiniest bit more mechanical.Â
Wooseok doesnât know how he found himself there. Water soaked through his clothes, a clog in his throat. Droplets on his eyelashes and a bouquet in his hand. He felt pathetic; he looked even more pathetic. Wooseok stood on the first floor of your apartment, walking back and forth, wondering if it was even right for him to go up. His stomach churned again, and more at the thought of Hyunggu being the one opening the door. He groaned. He shivered. He went up the stairs. He knocked.
He didnât know what to say and stretched his arms out before him with the flowers in his hand. Wooseok swore to himself that he wasnât the romantic type. He was not the type of person to make such gestures. He would usually think that they were stupid. He almost did not want to look at your face as you opened the door. His stomach hurt, screaming at him to get out of there.
You opened the door, and your face met with an assortment of flowers. Disorganized and drowned in rainwater. You accepted them nonetheless. âWhat are you doing here?â
âI came to apologize,â Wooseok said, quickly shifting his weight. He bit his lip then opened his mouth again,â Iâve been an asshole. To you, for a stupid reason. For a reason that I have caused. I want to take it back. I want to say yes a thousand times over. Please allow me to say yes again. Please accept me, love me again.â His voice dropped into his throat and met his heart halfway. Wooseokâs hands shook, and you couldnât even look at his face to see his reaction.Â
âYou know Hyungguâs my boyfriend now. I canât, itâs a no.â You said to put the flowers into his empty palm. âGet home safe, shower, and take some medicine. Stay safe, Wooseok.â You said and closed the door, all without meeting his eyes. After you closed the door, you fell to your knees. Your heart was beating out of your chest. Why did he always have to be so late?Â
Why did he still have to tug at the strings of your heart and play you so recklessly? You had moral. You had sense. You had Hyunggu. So why did you still yearn for Wooseok?
â
Your next group performance came sooner than later. You and Wooseok had not talked since that rainy night. All of the focus was on your group and the performance that you had. This time, Hui insisted that you all would have matching outfits. You stood backstage with your sticks in your hand. You didnât look at the crowd. You couldnât look at Jiyoo, especially after Wooseokâs confession.Â
Your sulking was then interrupted by an excited Hui. He was taking pictures of everyone on his digital camera. He swore that he wouldnât forget the day he convinced (forced) everyone to wear matching outfits with him. He pulled you into a hug and poked your face until he got a laugh out of you. You smiled, swatting his hand away from you and took the camera yourself to make your own memories.Â
Your performance went well. You got lost in the music, not looking too much at the crowd. The applause was loud after the performance, and you smiled. You found Hyunggu in the crowd and blew him a kiss with a giggle before you got off the stage. This time you sat with your group after the performance. Mainly because Hui kept you on a tight leash after you missed the group photo last time.Â
You sat back and watched the different artists get on the stage. You listened to poets, to other bands, and other singers. You waited till it was time to cheer Hyunggu on. You felt your body grow with electricity as Hyunggu came closer in the queue. You couldnât wait to hear his voice after such a long time. He had told you that he was working on a new piece lately. You remembered his singing voice being so soothing the last time.
Hyunggu walked on stage and became Kino. You watched his demeanor change in real time as he became a little more cocky. You sat back and listened to his song, to the lyrics. First, you felt one pair of eyes on you, then more as the song went on. Your face became hot as you listened to his lyrics. More and more, you regretted waving at him and blowing him a kiss at the end of your performance. The way that Hyunggu described you in his song, someone pitiful and drunk on an old love. The last time you talked about this, you promised to be better and only worry about Hyunggu. You looked down at your lap to find Huiâs palm face up. You held his hand and squeezed it.Â
Kino did not come to sit with you after his performance. He took another spot at the bar where you met him. Your group took another photo for the bar. This time with you in it matches the rest of the group. You saw Hyunggu come to approach you after the picture, but Hui cut in. âGroup dinner? On me?â Yuto roared and smiled, grabbing Wooseok and leading him out the door. You smiled, waved bye at your boyfriend, and left with Hui.Â
You were hurt at Hyunggu, a little mad even. You tried to be good. You were good. Besides Wooseok coming to your apartment, you hadnât gone looking for him. You only saw Wooseok at band practice. You rode in the passenger seat of Huiâs car. Wooseok took Yuto in his car. Hui turned to you at a red light, âYou know whatâs the best way to get him back right?â you hummed half-heartedly. âAww, come on, donât be like that. I'm going to buy you whatever you want. But seriously, the best way to get him back is with a song in response.â
That had your ears. It didnât sound bad. âAnd I would be the one writing it?â
âOr we could, since everything I make is bound to be good.â
âGoodbye, get me out this car,â you said seriously before laughing. Hui laughed with you.
â-
Later that night, Hyunggu came toy your apartment door. It was not strange for him to stop by, but this time it made your stomach turn. You let him inside anyway. He brought flowers, ones that matched your outfit from a couple of hours ago. You didnât ask him where he got flowers this late. You put the flowers in a vase with water as Hyunggu made his way to your couch. You joined him there, sitting a bit far from him. You leaned against the couch, facing your body towards him. âIâm sorry I couldnât talk to you much after the performance. Hui literally dragged me around everywhere after the performance.â You smiled, reminiscing about how happy your leader was.Â
Hyunggu, on the other hand, didnât seem to be happy with the little attention he got. âThatâs a shame, I was really looking forward to taking a picture with you myself, or even sit by you. I saved you a seat, you know? You went out with them anyway, though⊠and about that⊠I want you to cut Wooseok off. He was staring at you the entire time. He stood behind you in group photos on purpose, too!â Hyunggu groaned, reminding himself.Â
âWhat do you mean by cut him off?â
âI mean, stop talking to him! Hanging out with him! What if he gets the wrong idea?â
âHyunggu. I'm in a band with him. I grew up with him. I canât do that. Besides, we donât even talk! I do not say anything to him; we don't even talk at practice. Wooseok left with Yuto! Not me!â
âBut he still goes around looking at you with those lost puppy dog eyes! He looks at you like heâs waiting for you to turn around and acknowledge him!â
âLook, give me one more performance with my group⊠We have another show coming up, you should know that. Theyâll need time to find a new drummer. Deal?â
âDeal,â Hyunggu said as he picked himself up from the couch with low effort. He stll seemed bitter about the whole ordeal. You had your group before you had Hyunggu. How could you truly give that up?Â
â-
The next few weeks, you locked yourself in the basement with Hui. You two fought over lyrics about the arrangement. Hui had to coach you vocally for this new song. He told you that it would be more powerful and knife-twisting if you were the one to sing it with him. He almost went for the route of Wooseok being background vocals, but you had to stop him before he could go any further.Â
When the two of you presented the music to the group, it was without any lyrics. The instrumental was a pretty melody with a nice drummer solo. You were happy that Hui gave you the time to shine with this one. You and Hui recorded the band playing the instrumental before Hui did your practice with vocals. It wasnât strange for Hui to record the background music. Hui swore that the four of you would release a full album with all of the new songs that you all had been performing. He just wanted to grow a fanbase first.Â
Those couple of weeks with your band, with Hui, were calming. They were your second home and your passion all wrapped into one. How could you just let them all go so suddenly? It was not fair. How could anybody do that?
-
Hui convinced you all to wear matching outfits again. He told you all that the group needed a consistent image. You didnât know if he was your leader or your manager at this point. Although he did let you pick out the outfit theme this time. Hui made sure that you felt the most comfortable before coming into this performance. Wooseok and Yuto had been cliquing together more too. Wooseok hadnât really spoke much to you directly after being rejected by you. Yeah, here and there, he commented on certain things. Hyunggu is definitely not a topic brought up as a group, either.Â
You were fixing your hairstyle in the mirror backstage when Hyunggu came up behind you. âAre you ready to let them go yet?â He caught you off guard. Your mouth turned into a frown as you looked at him through the mirror.
âHonestly, no. Who would feel good leaving their family? But I guess Iâm ready. I helped them find a new drummer, so I know theyâll be alright without me. â You smiled up at him in the mirror. He returned it with a curt nod before he walked away. You dropped your smile, now fidgeting with your clothing. You took a deep breath before you went back to your group. Yuto gave you a thumbs up, and you reciprocated it, smiling.Â
You walked on stage, and a mic was set up near you. You looked at Hui once before you started performing, gathering your strength. You stopped thinking and let your emotions take hold of you. Every fiber of feeling in your body is escaping in sparkles and glitter mixed with rage. Your vocals mixed well with Huiâs. You heard the crowd cheer louder than you had before. You all bowed before leaving the stage. You didnât dare to look at what Hyungguâs face could possibly be. You honestly did not want to see him at all.Â
Wooseok began cheering for you about the vocals, genuine excitement spilling from his lips. Hui was hyping up the entire group, still talking about the possible reward you can all get. Finally, your group felt like a group again. Whole before the whole drama ensued with Jiyoo and Hyunggu.
Speaking of Hyunggu, he walked towards you with a not-so-happy look on his face. You could see the rage in his eyes when he came up to you. Hyunggu had done the same to you with his song, and this time, you spared him the embarrassment of it being known who you were talking about. âWe need to talk,â Hyunggu stated.
âI believe we do,â You said, crossing your arms and following him. Wooseok looked like he wanted to protest for a bit before he watched you walk away with Hyunggu. You followed Hyunggu outside of the bar. âAre you performing tonight as well?â
âDoes that matter right now? What was that? Since when are you a vocalist?!â Hyunggu raised his voice as he spoke to you, his arms getting aggressive. âYou were supposed to leave the group, not put yourself into it more.âÂ
âI am not going to leave my group,â you said, watching his movements. The way hyunggu stopped and paused. Like he had genuinely believed that you were in the palm of his hand.Â
âWhat? Butââ
âHyunggu. I said before that they are my family, I'm not leaving them. You can leave me if youâd like, but there is no way that I would ever abandon them.â You shifted your weight onto one leg, looking Hyunggu in the eyes, challenging him.Â
Hyunggu scoffed, looking to the side while rubbing his hand on the back of his neck. âFine, whatever, so be it.â He turned to go back inside the bar, leaving you out in the cold.Â
You stood outside in the cold for a while, staring at the brick wall where Hyunggu had been leaning before. The brick wall that the two of you ended up pressed against when you first met him. Hyunggu was so charming at first. How did he get so evil? You walked back to your group with your tail between your legs. You even sat down next to Wooseok, where youâd usually be at these events. Part of you did it to be petty back at Hyunggu. And even though it felt good to free yourself from his increasingly controlling hands, you felt a hole. The same hole that was there when you saw Jiyoo for the first time.
Even after the practice, when everyone was cheering you on, and another picture was taken of your group, there was a hole. You left after the performance, even though Wooseok and Hui were pushing for you all to go out. Yuto just wanted the free food, being fine with anything. You left the group, saying you were tired from tonight. It was true, you were tired of the whole ordeal.Â
You took the bus around the city for a while, watching the lights and the people walking throughout it. You got out of a park and walked for a while. You would usually come here when you had something bothering you. You hadnât come here since you had gotten rejected the last time by Wooseok. You sat on your rock and watched the water glisten in the moonlight. You could feel how damp it was outside, sure that your outfit would be ruined by all of it.
You donât know how long you sat there humming to yourself, but you grew colder as the night went on. You were still unable to move, captivated by the water itself. You barely heard when someone crept up, you putting a hoodie that was way too big for you over your shoulders. Wooseok sat next to you on your shared rock. He smiled at you, handing you a paper bag filled with food. The aroma reminded you of how hungry you actually were. You took it, smiling back at him.Â
The two of you sat there in comfortable silence, both facing towards the water. âDo you believe in water holding memories?â You asked to break the silence between the two of you.Â
âI believe it could be true.â
âDo you think it remembers all the times you said no to me here?â You turned to him with a smile on your face.
He laughed back, âHey! Thatâs not fair!â
âYes, it is, Iâm allowed to bring it up how you rejected me. I forgive you, though, for every rejection.â You could hear him shifting his weight, pondering how to respond.
âThanks, and Iâm also sorry for all of that, leading you on, coming to your apartment uninvited,â Wooseok said, looking up at you. His knees were tucked into his chest.
âItâs okay, start over?â You said, looking back at him in his eyes.Â
âYeah, start over.â Wooseok opened up his arms for a side hug. You scooted closer, closing the space between the two of you.Â
âSo will you reject me next time?â You asked, looking up at him.
âIs this a confession?â He asked, the corner of his lip twitching up.
âMaybe.â
âEither way, it will be a yes from now on. Anything.â His arm tightened around you as you leaned your head against him, staring back into the water.

JinhoÂ
Made an account because he needed some extra money on the side.Â
Didnât expect to get many bookings because of his height (sorry, we love you short king)Â
His first booking, heâs lowkey surprised but takes it very seriously
He wants to be a standard and be the most gentlemanly as he can be on his date.
Will show up 10 minutes early, and this man is backed up with ideas on what to do
The actual date goes pretty smooth,
I imagine this man to be big with eye contact while you're talking and nodding along.
Lowkey sassy and tries to make you laugh a lot.Â
Overall, a good date and overall good company.
Hui
He made an account for new experiences. He believes that experiences will give him new ideas for songs
He kind of wants to be led around but is willing to take the lead if someone lets him
He brings packed lunches, picnic idea? (Anyone else seen the fact he eats 7-8 chicken breasts a day?)
He already has money, but barely spends it on these dates, only when he finds something he really likes
He acts like a gentleman most of the date and is polite. Mostly closed off?
Overall, good but kind of annoying, would not do it again, although some people eat it up.
Hongseok
He does this to boost his ego.Â
He will be directly on time; he doesnât play about that.
Definitely plays a âstrongâ boyfriend role, but also wants to lowkey be seen as a softie.Â
I think heâs definitely boyfriend material.Â
Will take you out to a semi-fancy restaurant.
Princess treatment all the way.Â
Sometimes it can feel too forced?Â
(There is a post on insta where someone commented, âthats a real man right thereâ and itâs never left my head)
Oh, overall good. Everybody is recommending this man.Â
Shinwon
He does this as a joke
Dates he âtakes seriouslyâ like in the sense that he thinks this is serious, but he is acting all the way
Definitely cracks jokes the entire time
Takes you somewhere fun, like a theme park
Will definitely want to do something matching.Â
The date ends up being light-hearted and overall fun
Does gets recommended for people who just want to have light-hearted fun.Â
Changgu
THIS MAN IS A 10/10 GENTLEMAN.
Also, another one who just gives off boyfriend vibes naturally
I feel like his reason for doing this would be genuine, something sappy like âI just want to show people how they should be treated on a date,â and he does not disappoint!
He will take pictures that you can post online.Â
He has a genuine smile on his face all the time.Â
Again, another to give you princess treatment.
Heâll take you out for the aesthetics of places. Definitely has a theme for every date, and a note on his phone for everything he wants to do.Â
Also, another one to make evecontact and maybe a little skinship.Â
He would be booked for dates after 3 weeks of being on the site.Â
Yanan
Another one that would do this as a joke.
He is also kind of sassy, but also a little bit of a gentleman.Â
You ask him to open the door, and heâd say âNoâ, but do it anyway
The type to likes to walk around and browse shops, a type of date.Â
Does exhibits gentlemanly behavior, but again, you kind of have to get it out of him.
Really playful
One to tease you the entire date, then play it offÂ
It's a good date in the end, and you end up liking it a bit after itâs all over.Â
Has mied reviews honestly
He's probably only on this site for 2-3 weeks before he deletes his account and acts like it never happened
Kino
He would be eccentric. Over the top.Â
He flips whether he wants to be soft or he wants to act âcoolâ
Heâs doing this for fun, really
He would also be another one to give princess treatment. Heâs always looking out for you.Â
ALSO another one who looooves to keep eye contact.Â
If youâre shorter than him, he will slightly bend over to look you in the eye
He can be funny at times, but that is something you have to get out of him.Â
The dates could consist of anything.. But he will always bring flowers, it's sort of his signature.Â
Heâs also a big tease for no reason⊠just because
Another one where people would kind of be gushing over in the reviewsÂ
Yuto
Joined the side because he wanted to fish for compliments ngl
Okay nonchalant overperformative kingÂ
He would kind of be awkward at first
He has everything. Everything. Planned out
Itâs mostly trendy stuff, like things that you would see over 1000 times
Would try to make it âaestheticâ though
Would be a gentleman, but heâs casual about itÂ
The date would be a vibe, but slightly awkwardÂ
Definitely, a sightseeing date would be up his alley, with other activities too. The dates would not be boring.
He would get mixed reviews about the dates. People mostly like the dates' style and how theyâre different.Â
Wooeseok
I feel like heâs another one who would only be doing this if he really needed the money
Would treat this like any other job, though, but still would have his fun with itÂ
His height would definitely be a selling point
Way too popular out of his control
I feel like heâd do low effort activities for a day, like a walk in the park or an arts and craft class?

Rococo is an art style, a lifestyle. Organically shaped and covered in gold and pastel colors. Putting an innocent tone over paintings that arenât so innocent, for tea rooms where women gossip. The high life of the French.Â
You sat in the tea room with the other ladies. You had on your best fake smile. You were the youngest out of all of them. Recently, you married the high priest. It was arranged, of course, but he was quite handsome. His name was Kang Hyunngu. Unlike your husband, you grew up in a noble lifestyle. He climbed his way to the top.Â
You hummed at one of the ladyâs comments. You werenât listening to what she was saying. You were staring at the paintings around the room. One caught your eye, a picture of naked figures on the sea with putti above them.Â
âI see you like the painting I added to my collection.â She smiled at you. Her name wasâŠ. You could not seem to remember her first name. But her last name stuck out to you. You were still new to this group. Learning all of their names would take time.
âAh yes, Mrs. Beaumont. What is the name of the painting?â You gained the attention of the ladies in the room. Most of them didnât have an eye for art. You knew of some that would have their maids.Â
âThe Triumph of Venus by Francious Boucher.â She let out a slight smile while sipping her tea. You nodded back to her and let the conversation move elsewhere.Â
.
The piece stuck with you throughout the day. It could be because of the erotic nature of the painting. She had planned a day to go to the academy to look at the new pieces. You took care of most of the finances in the relationship. It was the only task that you had that wasnât mundane. Â
When you went to his office, he barely looked at you when the two of you were talking about taking over the finances. He replied with one word and pointed at the finance books. You didnât know him too well at that time. He didnât know you too well either.Â
You picked up the books and looked back at him. He hadnât looked up from his papers to see you out. It seemed that he did not have even a bit of interest in you. You didnât talk to him much after you left his office that day. The two of you had never sat down and had a proper conversation. With you, he was reserved and you were the same with him. Neither of you would open up.Â
.
You had been home since the meeting at the Beaumonts' place. You were going over the spending for the month, what was in savings, and what were the allowances. You were in your own office, like a hermit. Most days you wouldnât dare to come out âtil supper. There was no reason to stroll, but now you wanted to explore art galleries. You were looking down at the finance book, how much money should be put away for artwork? How much did it cost to be a patron?
You could send a letter to some ladies, but you know how judgemental they are. You could ask your head maid to do some digging on others. You were reading about the art world, trying to get as much information as possible.
You had been alone for a while when someone entered the room. You didnât pay it too much attention at first until a shadow had loomed over you. You looked up to meet the eyes of your husband.Â
âTo what do I owe the pleasure of seeing you this late in my office?â You gave him a smile reaching out your hand. He took it and placed a small kiss. It was a flirty gesture you made at him, but a large smile reciprocated it.Â
âI hope you will be this public for our upcoming ball.â You raised your eyebrows at his words. Hyunggu wasnât a social type of person.Â
âA ball? Us? We barely attend others, and you want me to host?â You added a bit of a playful tone in your voice even though the matter was serious. Your fake concern was seen, but not spoken on. Although it was true, you did not attend many balls when the two of you married. People didnât see you and Hyunngy together outside in public often. This would be a first.
âI was hoping for a change. I want to present our name as something grand. I am sure you can handle hostingâ
You hummed for a bit. âI can handle hosting and planning, but can you handle all the aristocrats? They can be quite annoying.â No matter how much you wanted to add to a pet name, you held yourself back. He hadnât gone that far with you, and you wouldnât with him.
âI canât wait to see how you pull it together. It is in a month. That should give you enough time.â He gave you one final smile before he left the room. He didnât prolong the conversation, but you wanted him to. The conversation was a bit longer, and you thought you had kept the mood up. So why didnât Hyunggu talk to you for just a little while longer? He seriously drove you crazy.
.
You were busy the rest of the week trying to design some theme for your home and party. You were still hung up on the artistic style of rococo and decided to go with that as a theme. It was a new and upcoming style. It would make the two of you seem more stylish than you gave off. And you had to budget the whole ball plus the gowns. To youâ that was the most important part of the event. It would probably cost more than the catering and cake.Â
You knew one thing for certain, you were going to be locked inside your office for the rest of the day.Â
.Â
The ball rolled around, and you were exhausted from all the planning. You had your maids help her get ready, the dress, the makeup, the hair. There was a sense of pride when you walked downstairs and saw the array of flowers and colors of pastels. Some of the paintings that you ordered have come and were displayed.Â
Your husband walked up to you, âIt looks amazing such as you do.â You smiled. You felt flattered.Â
âThank you.âÂ
You sat on a couch sipping tea while watching your husband converse with others. It was a big party with a large guest list. You thought that you were in over your head inviting people that were of a higher class than you. Especially this one noble family. Their son was best friends with the prince. You didnât expect them to arrive, but it still was a way to get your name out there.Â
Your made rushed to you whispering in your ear that they had arrived. You jolted up, the excitement was too much. You followed the maid to where. You were too stunned to speak just follow. It felt like there was no possible way that this man could be in your house right now.Â
You walked up to him, still beaming with excitement. âNice to meet you, Mr Lee. Thank you for coming to my event tonight.â When you looked up at him you could feel your heart beating faster. He had a sweet puppy-like face and was too handsome. Now you were glad he came to your event.Â
âNow that Iâve met you, I can say that Iâve come for a good cause.â He reached out his hand to your own slowly bending down to kiss it without making eye contact. There was heat in your cheeks. âWhy donât you show me around your lovely home?â There was a look in his eye, something of interest.Â
.
You showed him around your house, ending up in your private library on a couch. The two of you were laughing. You had to say, he got some good conversation out of you. The more you two drank, the more handsy Hui had gotten. His hands hovering above your own and his eyes rarely broke contact with your own. You sucked in a breath before you took another sip of champagne. It had already been late when Hui arrived at the party, heavens knows what time it is now.Â
The two of you were still in deep conversation when your maid slipped into the room looking a bit nervous. She tapped you on the shoulder. âErm⊠I just wanted to (warn) tell you that your husband has been looking for you and is headed to the library. Most of the guests have left by now.âÂ
You brushed it off waving your hand in the air, âItâs probably about the clean-up and what to do next.â You had a smile on your face with a pink tint on your cheeks. It was Hyunggu and he didnât talk much to you. He only spoke business because, technically, you were part of his business image.Â
âOh dear, does that mean I have to part ways with you already? I thought we were just getting started,â Hui added as he snuck his hand under your own and laid a kiss upon it once more. He had an enamored look in his eyes now like he got a taste of what he was looking for.Â
The made to you two was once again a ghost, and nothing else existed but the sound of your voices and the heat between your bodies. The only thing that would break the trance would be two hands on your shoulders. Surprised, you looked behind you to find Hyunggu. âOh, Dear! You have to meet my new friend. He says my home is lovely andââ
âI'm sure our home is lovely, you designed it after all, but shouldnât I be the one to talk business with the man, I am the husband.â He didnât leave much room for you to respond, tightening his grip on your shoulders. You spoke no more.Â
âAh, we should soon. Letâs make a date where I can come over again.â Hui had a smug look that anyone could mistake for liquor. But the way that Hui made a quick glance at you, made your heart skip a beat.
âYouâre right. Tonight has already gone too far. Iâll walk you to the door.â Hui stood up and you watched him. Hyunggu had finally lifted his harsh grip from your shoulders. You stood up as well, but the men were already half out of the door. Hui looked back at you and gave you a wink with a soft smile.Â
.
You had returned to your room undressing, bathing, dressing, and slipping into bed with a book. Hui gave you a recommendation from your library, and you promised to read it. You had walked around the library with Hui before sitting down and talking. Hui was an observer, the way he watched you talk, and the way he examined the room. While the two of you walked around the book collection, he suddenly pulled out a book and gave it to you. You smiled to yourself holding the book to your chest. There was a knock at your door that interrupted your flashbackâ or shall I say daydream. âCome in.â You said in a soft voice to the person on the other side of the door.Â
Hyunggu opened it, only now you were able to see his eyes. Angry, almost, but for a reason that you donât know. You only turned to him to see who walked into your room, then turned back to your book.Â
Your husband bored you and to you, whatever he was going to say would not make it any better, so you went back to your book. You heard him sigh, maybe it was the stress from hosting such a huge party. You flipped the page.Â
âDo you have any shame?â Hyunggu said in a slightly irritated voice. It was clear he was trying to hold himself back, but the venom slipped through the cracks.Â
âWhat?â You said now putting your book aside. You looked directly at him.Â
âYou disappear for half of the night into some secluded room, and you donât think people will talk. Especially with that manâs ties with the prince?!â There was urgency in Hyungguâs voice. He ran his hands through his hair. He was still angry, now you looked at him, analyzing him. He hadnât changed from his attire from the part. He looked like he had been sweaty. You were sure it had been some time since Hyunggu walked Hui out the front door. So what had he been doing since then?Â
Either way, he was coming for you, almost accusing you of adultery. Sure, you didnât like Hyunggu as a husband, but you did have some respect for the man. âSo this is about image? Because if it isââ
âItâs not about image itâs about the fact that my WIFE was gone half of the night and I didnât even have an answer as to where you were. God, I had to ask your maid for an idea. The event went well if people werenât asking for your appearance half of the damn time.â
âYou donât like me by your side if you mind me reminding you.â
âAnd when I did seem to find you when everyone else was gone, you were with a man. A man? What do you think about how he thinks of me now? So oblivious that I can allow my wife to slip away? â He didnât even hear your statement. He was ignoring you just blabbering on and then he got to the part about Huiâs glances. âHe was looking you up and down undressing you with his eyes. In my house! He was thinking of undressing YOU. IN. MY. HOUSE.âÂ
âHave you been drinking, Hyunggu?â You said without giving too much thought to what was coming out of your mouth. You were starting to become concerned.Â
âTHATS NOT IMPORTANT.â Hyunggu was pacing around the room now. He was in over his head angry. A part of you was scared. This normally quiet man of your husband was now yelling in your bedroom.Â
âI think you need to calm down.â You said with a little more urge in your voice. You were ready for him to leave and didn't know how to calm Hyunggu down. He was still walking back and forth when you got up from your bed walking toward him. You cupped his face, âYou need to calm down.â You spoke softly to him, looking into his eyes. âOkay?â He looked back in yours before he ripped his face out of your grasp, and stormed out of the room slamming the doors.Â
You didnât sleep that night, the book acted as a source of comfort.
.Â
You had been avoiding meeting hyunggu ever since the incident in your room. Dinner was the only time that you couldnât escape from him. Neither of you had spoken either. You avoided eye contact from him, or read your book at the dinner table.Â
You awaited Huiâs return, but perhaps he did not mean it when he said he would visit again. You spent your time in your drawing room, embroidering, reading, painting, and anything to pass the time. Going on strolls in the garden behind your house was your new favorite pastime. It felt more and more empty with every day, and you asked for more flowers and asked for more statues. You needed something more than an empty garden.  Â
You searched for some type of fulfillment for your boredom. You frequented as many teas and balls as you could in hopes of running into Hui again. Especially at balls, since you had met him on your own. It was a new move trying to go to all of the events of the social season since you werenât that high of a noble. You needed the connections, so you had the ball in the first place, but you didnât see much of a chance moving up in the ranks.Â
You did get the attention of many of the ladyâs husbands, which got you somewhere in mentioning your husband. Even though you were not interested in Hyunggu as much, you still had to stick by him. Who else was going to support your endeavors in art? You could think of one person but still could not find him anywhere.
.
You were getting ready for another ball you frequented with or without your husband. Sometimes Hyunggu would âtag alongâ for the connections that were there. This ball in particular, Hyunggu did not fancy it at all. You didnât hear anything from the staff about him getting ready or wanting to go.
You left your estate feeling free since there wouldnât be someoneâs (hyungguâs) eyes on you all night. You walked into the ball, the lights were dim creating a sense of ambiance. You wandered about most of the ball. You werenât much of a dancer, but more of a socialite.Â
You were laughing with one of the ladies you usually have tea with when someone tapped you on the shoulder. You turned yourself around and met Huiâs eyes. You curtsied to him, and he took your hand again to kiss it. His lips left a small fire burning on your hand for the rest of the night. âI have not seen you in so long.â You smiled up at him. You wanted to say that you missed him, but it felt like too much.Â
âI am not an easy man to come across.â He had a sly look on his face as if he had won something. He held onto your hand escorting you somewhere more quiet, like before. You could tell he liked his privacy.Â
âI can tell, you never called when you say you would.â You remarked in a slightly pouty tone. You would not give him too much, not yet at least. âAt this point, you are just... teasingâ You looked up into his eyes looking for something, and was met with a soft smile.Â
âI did not think even if I were to call, that your husband would accept it. I am glad you felt the same way I have.â His hands lingered on yours, holding them. The two of you were outside in the garden. The sky was clear and full of stars.Â
âWhat feeling do we share?â You asked inching towards him. The moonlight only made him look more dreamy.Â
âThe feeling of something igniting every time your skin touched. The passion.â His hands holding your upper arm. âThat is why you were looking for me again, is it not?â
âYou looked down at your own hands, âThat is why. I do miss your company and our conversation. Which is why I wish you could visit me in my garden. It is empty, almost like my house. Like my heart when you are not next to me.âÂ
He tucked a hair behind your ear as an excuse to hold your face. âThen I will meet you in that garden.â He leaned in to kiss you, and it was soft. You leaned more into him grabbing him by his waist, and he grabbed you by yours in return. You smiled into the kiss, as he ran his hands up into your hair.Â
He pushed you up against the wall, as the two of you became breathless. His hands were still in your hair tugging at it making the kiss deeper. He pulled away after a few moments trying to catch his breath. âWe both canât continue this here nor today.â Hui was looking down at the ground. His hands were on his hips as he thought of a solution to both of your dilemmas. âI shall have to visit your garden sometimeâŠâ Hui said, looking at you with a smile.Â
âWe should get back to the ball now before we are missed.â You replied and linked your arm with his. The two of you walked back to the ball to enjoy the rest of your night dancing and talking with Hui. You enjoyed his company more than Hyungguâs. You felt like you had known Hui for an entire lifetime.Â
.
You spent more and more time in the garden. New flowers were blossoming, and your statues came in. There was one you put on a pedestalâ an angel. He looked like he was sitting and had a finger in front of his mouth hushing. Two other statues sat on the ground. They were angels, one hugging the other. You smiled to yourself proud of the way you had decorated the garden, but it was missing something. The trees around your garden looked overgrown. The biggest tree had a branch that seemed to curl into itself. You couldnât put to your mind what you were missing just yet. You walked around more of your garden seeing where else you could put statues. You had a thing for putti, the little devious angles that were found everywhere. It was too cute and fitting for Hyungguâs job.Â
You smiled to yourself looking over at your garden one last time. You turned to head back to your estate when your maid ran to you with a letter in her hand. âA.. Letter⊠from Marquis Lee.â As soon as those words left her mouth you beamed and ran to her to retrieve the letter. Your two dogs barked in the back of her. One was a brown and white cocker spaniel who was perfectly groomed and a Coton de Tulear, who was more energetic. Coco, who was the white puppy, and Ava, who was the brown and white puppy both ran up to you before you could get your hands on the letter. You giggled playing with the puppies, for a moment before making sure to take the letter and shove it into a pocket of your dress for safekeeping. You continued to run around the garden playing fetch with the puppies.Â
You had been out there for somewhat of an hour when you felt someoneâs eyes on you. You turned around to see Hyunngu leaning on a pole of your veranda. He had a soft smile for a moment before he got caught. He made his way towards you, and you called the dogs to your side as you walked to meet up with him. âDid you need my presence?â You said as you curtseyed a little at him.
âNo, but you can say it was missed. You are usually inside.â Hyunggu said as he looked around at your backyard. It had changed since the last time he had been back here. It bloomed with your taste and creativity. He allowed himself to smile, admiring what you did to the place. âI think I know what your garden is missing⊠I shall order it and have it installed.â
âI already have more statues on the way,â you said. You guessed earlier that the garden missed more statues. Your garden needed a story of itself to tell, and to you, statues would fix that.Â
Hyunggu chuckled a little, âNo not that. Something else. Exotic, but I think you will enjoy it.â He nodded to himself before looking down at the two pups following you. âSeems that you liked my wedding gifts as well.â He felt proud of himself with that one.Â
âI have grown attached to them, yes.â You answered Hyunngu bending down to ruffle Cocoâs soft white furr. Dogs were often a gift in marriage as a symbol of loyalty. Given to a woman for the expectation of her loyalty. You knew that and so did he. Coco and Ava were a symbol of what you were meant to be as a woman. Sometimes you loved them but hated them for the reason they were here. âI shall see you at dinner,â you said with a smile and a curtsey to excuse yourself. Once again, you called the dogs after you while heading inside. It was time to read your letter.
And write a new one you would send in secret.
.
You almost fell asleep at your desk with all of the drafts you had written to Hui. You wanted to sound smart and eloquent, but you could not seem to get the right tone down. You groaned in frustration, throwing yourself back in your chair. His words were so sweet and rolled off the page like melting wax with a cherry scent. How could you ever match up with that? How could you make him feel like heâd be melting off of a small piece of paper?
In the back of the garden, there lies a pathway leading to a woman with her angel of a child. Next to her is a pedestal of our own, where our love can grow taller than any tree in my garden. We will make the flora around us bloom continuously.Â
At the end, you signed your name. You wished to meet him there in that spot, on that same pedestal. You wished to steal another kiss from his soft lips and feel the way he held you. You found yourself with your hands in your hair, soothing it and slightly tugging on it just the way he did. Your hands trailed to your lips, brushing your fingers across them softly. A smile fell upon your lips reminiscing the one kiss you shared with him, that made every fiber of your body burn even a couple of days after. You leaned back in your chair sighing from the satisfaction of your daydream. You stayed like that for moments upon a time, just thinking how it would be if Hui could have courted you. When you were satisfied with the tiny scenarios you opened your eyes. You still needed to seal the letter that sat on your desk. You melted the wax and bored it onto the folded paper before you pressed the wax seal on it. It was your old oneâ before you were associated with Hyunggu. It was personal and just⊠you. Just you and him.Â
You hid the letter you had written for Hui in between a textbook, for safekeeping. The one he wrote you needed a special place in your room. You could go shopping the next day for boxes, but for now, the best place to keep the letter would be close to you. You crawled into bed, taking the letter with you, sliding into the covers, and sliding the letter under your pillow.Â
.
You sat at the dining table dressed up ready to go get some more writing supplies along with a box for yourself. Something about it just made you feel so giddy about the idea of getting to exchange letters with Hui back and forth. Even though you prefer to speak to him face-to-face letters would have to do. You wouldnât want Hyunngu to become as frustrated as he was the night of the ball. Nor would Hyunggu ever let Hui set foot on his property. Letters were still personal, but not as intimate.Â
Hyunggu had been acting differently since the night he came into your room. He had been softer in a way, and trying to connect with you more. He would try and match up the time the two of you had meals, he would try to meet you in the library acting as if he needed a book, and the way he came in the garden the day before. The gift he mentioned, you wondered why he would possibly want to get you a gift and what even was the gift. Hyunggu was still three-quarters of a mystery to you. You broke fast talking with your maid about what stores you wanted to visit, and if there was anything new that you had not seen before.Â
Hyunggu walked into the room, and you quieted down in front of him. You looked up to see him smiling so early in the morning. He walked up to you to where you were sitting, âI am going to have something being installed today. You are going to be out today, correct?âÂ
You nodded at him replying, âI am.â You took another bite of your food to postpone talking to him. Hyunggu stared down at you a small smile still on his lips. You looked up at him, there was something more that he wanted to say to you or wanted to do. You noticed the way his fingers twitched at the side of him. âSo I suppose you better have it installed before I come home. So I should take my time out today.âÂ
.
You hadnât checked the garden to see what was installed when you came home, not when you received another letter so fast. The rest of the afternoon was sent in your room drafting yet another letter. The day had gone by so fast that by the time you looked outside your window, it was already late at night and there was no use to go outside. Hui had mentioned how he would come by soon to that pedestal and how your love story would grow.Â
There was a knock at your door in the middle of the night. You had called your maid to come retrieve the letter and have it sent off as soon as possible. Hyunggu peered his head through the door before a sound could come out of your mouth. You coughed a bit slipping the letter under other documents and books. You plastered a fake smile on your face sitting with your legs crossed. You were leaning against your desk wearing only a nightgown. Hyunggu let himself in your room, âYou never visited the garden today⊠Did you catch something while you were out in town?â His head tilted to the side as he walked closer towards you. âYou did not eat dinner either. I was worried about you.â Hyungguâs hand fell upon your cheek and traveled to your chin lifting it.Â
You cleared your throat once more. âI apologize, when I came home I was feeling too well. I retreated to my room for some rest. I hope you were not offended.â Hyunggu smiled. His hand left your chin and went up to your forehead. His other hand went up to his.Â
âYou do feel a bit warm. Shall I call our physician?â You shook your head slightly. You could not be more of a bother to him, nor did you seek his attention. You used to try everything to get him to look at you. You had suspected that this had something to do with Hui. Ever since Hyunggu found you in the library smiling, laughing, and talking with Hui, something inside Hyunggu flipped. Hyunggu visiting you in the middle of the night is rare. He did visit you a few times on the topic of financial matters, but nothing more than business. âAlright,â He replied letting his hands fall to his side. âBut you should rest nonetheless, so you can feel better in the morning. I will be there to break your fast with you as well.â Hyunggu leaned in to kiss your temple before leaving your room.Â
You felt stunned by the sudden affection from your husband. You touched the place he kissed on your forehead. You bit your lip and called in your maid to give her the letter. Your sentences were short, telling her to send the letter out and that you would spend the entire day outside tomorrow. When she left you could barely fall asleep drumming your fingers in your chest. Your head played back to the kiss on your forehead from Hyunggu, then to the kiss you shared with Hui in the garden. Â
..
The next morning felt brighter than the rest. You would find a surprise in the garden, and hopefully have a surprise visit from your so-called lover. The day was quiet and bright with a subtle breeze flowing through an open window. You had eaten with Hyunggu earlier that morning, and you could still not get over how he smiled at you. He held your hand and walked you to the garden that bright morning.Â
He showed you the swing, tied by a thick rope into the three. It was gold with a velvet seat. It almost looked like a throne he got only for you. Hyunggu had lifted you from your waist to sit you in the swing. He held his hands in yours gripping the rope and pulling you back on the swing. He pushed the two of you forward. It felt like a moment that could be frozen and displayed for eternity. The way you flew through the air was a different type of magic. The sound of his laughter rang in your ears. He sounded so pure, so childlike. It was different from the way you knew him before. Everything had changed so fast in such little time. You two stayed in that moment that could have been taken out of a fairytale before a butler called him into the house to work on some matters. He caught the swing to slow it down so you could get off. He helped you off, holding your hand and giving it a peck before bidding you adieu.Â
A pinch of guilt was felt in your stomach, the feeling that you betrayed Hyunggu. Even though your vows werenât genuine, they still existed. You strolled through the garden, fingertips grazing the blooming petals around you. The way Hyunggu kissed you by your hand, took you aback to the way Hui kissed your hand. And soon enough, you were thinking of the way he kissed your lips. Flashes of scenes of the past two to three weeks ran through your mind. You sat and thought on a ledge of a wall. You closed your eyes to feel the breeze and the way the sun made parts of your skin tingle and warm. The sun felt like there was a second embrace hugging you and comforting you through your thoughts. The warmth helped with the loneliness that you felt, till the warmth was gone and you were cast in a shadow.Â
You opened your eyes slowly, slightly afraid of what your eyes would meet as soon as they were introduced to the outside world. Hui whispered softly, âI know this wasnât the place we were supposed to meet, but I hope you donât mind.â You smiled and scooted over patting a seat for Hui to sit.
âI donât mind at all. I am grateful you saved me from loneliness on this beautiful day.â You laid your head on his shoulder, your smile growing by the seconds. The two of you were deep in the garden of your estate, hidden by the numerous flowers around you. The sweet aroma of the flora filled the two of you with romance. Hui had an arm around you, and his other holding your hand. âI read the book you recommended to me.â You said in a soft whisper.
âDo you think I have good taste?â The arm over your shoulder drew circles on your forearm. The two of you were looking ahead as if there was nowhere else to look, nothing else to do, and nothing more to say.Â
âI think we both know the answer to that questionâ. You laughed a little, letting your eyes crease, relaxing and acting naturally with Hui. You turned your head to look at him and gave him a small peck on his cheek. The creases on the corner of his eyes soon mirrored your own. He leaned down trying to give you a proper kiss. Being playful, you quickly switched out your lips for a flower before running off. You threw the flower to the side once Hui realized what was touching his lips. You were on your feet, running around the garden while Hui sprung off of his seat behind you to chase you. The sounds of your giggles filled the air as Hui continued to catch up with you. He tackled you into a patch of grass, he nuzzled into your neck starting to peck you. Hui attacked you with kisses all over your face and neck while you squealed trying to escape him.Â
The rest of the day went by quickly with mostly chatting, soft touches, and short kisses. It was a fever dream, an idea that you could escape your marriage in your magical garden. You had dinner with Hyunggu that night barely looking up to meet his face. There was guilt that beat the smile off of your face. You stared down at your food, watching it slowly get cold. You also couldnât bring yourself to hold the fork to your mouth, not in his presence. âWas there something I did that was wrong today? Iâm sorry that I could not stay outside with you. And because of that interruption, I have some news for you. I will have to leave the estate for some business out of state for a whileâ I shouldnât be too long. Three weeks to a month.â You looked at him blankly, not knowing what to say. âI know this is a lot and sudden.â
There was nothing you could think to say to him. Guilt began to fill your mouth, trying to force its way out. âIt is, I hope it goes well.â A nice quick reply would do for now. You didnât mind him being gone when he was barely there initially. Only just recently did he start making an appearance in your life. Still, Hyunggu had the title of your husband, and that was enough to make you feel a bit of guilt.Â
.
By the next day, Hyunngu was packed up and gone from the estate. You made the most of the time having the place to yourself. More talks in the garden lead to talks in the library and many things behind closed doors. Carelessness filled your head as you let Hui inside your room, for a break from the sun. Really, it was so that you wouldnât sweat under the layers of clothing when he touched you. You could be free from worry, and clothing. Hui held your face kissing you with passion he had not shown you before. He had nothing to hide anymore, not his passion for you. You held his shoulders for support as he kissed down to your neck trying to pry open your bodice. You helped him take off your dress, smiling and giggling with him. Hui took care of himself as you got comfortable on the bed. Who knew sex could be so fun when you add a bit of passion and the joy of eating the forbidden fruit? Huiâs lips were on you in an instant, his hand on your thigh soothing it. He made room for himself in between your legs, while his kisses trailed down your body. He worshiped you, every inch of your skin was left on fire after his kisses. When his face reached your heat he looked up at you. Huiâs eyes were glistening by the candlelight. âMay I, my dear?â, he asked licking his lips.
âYou may,â was all you needed to say before his lips were attached to your clit lapping and kissing like he wasnât going to be able to do this again. His hands squeezed at your thighs, to keep you from closing in on him. His breath was hot against your cunt, as he gasped for air. You moaned as you felt his tongue enter you. You grasped his hair, whimpering as he sped up this pace. You were so close to your release, holding onto your sheets for dear life as your legs shook. You came with a screech, closing your legs around Huiâs head. He continued to lap up your cum, rubbing his thumb on your inner thigh. Your breathing was heavy as you ran your hand through your hair.Â
     Hui detached himself from you, only to kiss you. He was murmuring something you couldnât hear. You could feel Huiâs hard against your thigh. You helped guide him towards your entrance, needy for what more pleasure he would bring you. He pushed in with a deep kiss on your lips. He was slow at first so you could get used to him. He pulled back to look at you, and you stared at him with all of your combined beauty. You pulled him into a kiss with such passion urging him to quicken his pace. Hui bit at your lip pulling it while he quickened his pace. You could feel him drawing near as he began to let out moans of pleasure. You kissed his neck biting it and sucking at it trying to draw him closer. Hui came with a shaky moan, falling on top of you and leaving small kisses. The rest of the afternoon was a blur.Â
.
You had been so caught up in your new love affair, that Hyunggu was coming home sooner than expected. The house seemed buzzing, with gossip about the past week and preparations. You tried to control as much of the gossip as you could. It was bad that you only felt guilty after the fact that you had done something. Your maid had come with a letter from Hui, and you rushed to put it in a chest that you kept. This whole ordeal made you nervous, even though you had put yourself in a hole. You barely loved Hyunggu, so what was this sinking feeling in your chest?
You waited in your room for Hyunggu to arrive home. You cross-stitched until there was a knock at your bedroom door. You opened it to see Hui smiling back at you looking a bit frantic. You hadnât read the letter he sent you earlier. Moments later you heard the commotion of unpacking in the house.

You were waiting at a cafe, staring down into your coffee cup. You kept putting off drinking your coffee. You didnât want to leave the cafe yet, not when you hadnât accomplished what you came here for. You looked around the cafe for him again, and he was nowhere in sight, again. It felt like you had been waiting all day.Â
He promised you he would be there, and yet again your coffee was growing cold with each minute. Your mind wandered to teh days where he was earlier than you, already ordering for you. When the two of you would play games on napkins, and would spend hours together. The way his eyes would glow as he spilled details of the things he loved, and how he listened to you when you would talk with him.Â
You looked out the window, it was still snowing. The snow covered the ground and only kept piling more and more. You had enough, thatâs what you would tell him when he would arrive. If he would arrive. You ran your finger around the rim of your coffe cup, your face inbetween your hands. You watched the people in the cafe, the people in line for a quick drink, the people sitting down, weather they were alone or with other people.Â
You met the eyes of one of the guys in line. He was far back in it, and he gave you a soft smile. You smiled back, feeling a sense of warmth on this cold day. You continued to watch him from the corner of your eye as he looked around before making his way to you. He slid into the seat next to yours.Â
âAll alone?â He asked you, while getting settled in his seat.Â
âYouâre alone too.â You retorted to his rhetorical question. âWhat brings you here?â
âCoffee, you?â He looked down at your full coffee cup that hasnât been touched since the waiter gave it to you.Â
âI wish I could say the same thing, but it looks like Iâve been stood up.â You looked out the window again, the sky looked a bit darker than before.Â
âI could make up for that absence.â the stranger said causing you too look back at him.Â
âYou donât even know my name, but you want to butt in on my date?â You smiled at him.Â
âOnly if you let me. And my name is Yeo Changguâ He said. You thought about it for a bit and nodded at him. It didnât seem too bad and it didnât seem like your boyfriend would ever show up.
So you spent what felt like hours talking to this new stranger about anything and everything that came to mind. It felt like the early days. You didnât know how this guy made you feel so comfortable around him. For a moment you couldâve sworn that you looked outside, and it was spring with flowers blooming around you and Changgu.
Hihi! SO! I finally updated my masterlist. I am also (i think) officially off of writer's block so, I'm doing well. We're at 1.9k words, but i hope to give much much more because I am just in the beginning of this story. I am not sure when it is going to be done... so look out for it!
I also wanted to come in and thank everyone who has been supporting me. Hot Sugar is slowly doing well and I hope to bring more consistency to you all!
-a/n: This is something else I found but I'm also working on something else right now. I am looking at an old project and trying to figure out what my direction was. I will not let this blog die!!

You had hosted a sleepover with the boys, they were now fast asleep sharing room in your living room and guest room. You were unable to sleep, looking up at the wall unaware of the hours that had passed already. For some reason, your mind was on high alert keeping you up. Scared that something would happen when you were fast asleep and unable to help them. Blinking up at the ceiling, you almost didn't catch the creak of the door. You quickly sat up to meet Hyungguâs eyes, who looked concerned. He frowned moving closer to you on the bed slowly closing the door behind him.
Your voice was low, barely a whisper, as if it was hard to get anything out, âDid you need anything? Was sleeping on the floor uncomfortableâ if it was, you could take my bed.â You were about to get up, willing to give your space away. Your bed wasnât helping you sleep. Hyunggu caught you holding you down by your arms with a gentle touch. He pushed you back down onto the bed.Â
His smile was soft, he hadnât said anything yet the entire time he was here. âThatâs not itâ I just came to check up on you. You donât have to give up anything.â With his sweet smile, he sat down next to you. âI woke up in the middle. And you? You look like you havenât slept at all.â
You looked down, now starting to feel shy in front of the manâs presence. âYou got me.â It had come out less comical than you had intended. If that was ever your intention at all.
âMind if I try to give it a try? You know, to help you sleep?â You still couldnât meet his eyes. You felt Hyungguâs weight lift from your side of the bed and resituate on the other side. He tugged on your shirt making you look at him. There was barely any light in the room, most of it from the crack in your blinds. Again, his face had nothing but sweetness and concern as he spoke to you, âLay down.â He had already slipped into the spot next to you.Â
You obeyed him, letting yourself lie down on the spot next to him. He laid on his side, his body towards yours. You ended up facing him looking up into his eyes. He pulled you closer to him, throwing his arms around you and slowly patting you. You let him, you knew you needed the sleep, and you knew he wouldnât do anything bad. So, you allowed yourself to drift into sleep with him. Finally getting the sleep you were missing, and feeling his body rest next to yours.

There was always some sort of jealousy toward those with easy access to success and money. There was frustration on why could they be born into it, and you have to work so hard only to receive a slither of the life that they were living. At this point complaining about working wasnât enough. You had to drown it out with alcohol too and seriously your bank account was going to burn along with your throat for the amount of alcohol you were consuming. You threw your head down onto the counter letting out a groan of frustration, nothing was calming right now. You picked up your head from the counter rolling your eyes because of your empty glass being refilled. The last thing you need is a guy who thinks that he could get any woman he wants.
You searched the bar trying to meet with someone elseâs eyes. A certain man with wavy dark brown hair taking a sip of his drink met your eyes. You darted your eyes away from him, the intensity of his stare was too much. He only took it as an invitation to move from his spot to the empty seat next to yours. By the time you lifted your head, he was next to you causing you to have a confused look on your face. You were sure you had blinked a couple of times before he began to speak to you. He was so pretty too and maybe it was the alcohol talking, but you started to lean towards his face closer and closer until he stopped you. He looked down at you and smiled with a chuckle. Something along the lines of âHow Cuteâ escaped his lips. That wasnât something you took too lightly and even worse when you had less of a hold on your tongue.
Your eyebrows furrowed and you looked up at him. You opened your mouth but at first, nothing came out. You closed it and licked your lips before opening it again to say, âCalling me cute isnât going to get me in bed with you, sir.â The corner of his mouth irked up a bit higher as if he liked it. You huffed again now getting irritated with the stranger who spoke none to you but just acted. So you just pushed him again. âSeriously, just give me an answer! Stop being a coward and just talk to me!â You honestly didnât understand why you said what you said. Maybe you were lonely and craved his attention.Â
There he went again, starting to laugh at your short fuse. He made you feel so small and you werenât quite sure if you liked it or not. The way he just stared at you intently riled up something hot between your legs. Your body was on fire and wanted to inch more toward him, but your mind said no. âSeriously, it's not funny!â You said again but it seemed not even to reach his ear.
His grin grew again. âIt is when youâre huffing over something that might all be in your head. And has anyone ever told you that youâre so pretty when youâre frustrated?â His hand caressed your cheek and slipped under your chin lifting it. You let him do that to you while watching his eyes the entire time. You lost a couple of breaths along the way. Â
His eyebrow lifted as if he was expecting you to answer that question of his right before he decided to take your breath away. You wanted to smile or to laughâ if you were sober, but now everything just gave in to him. Your whole body gave into him. âNo... no oneâs ever told me thatâ Your eyes strayed didnât away from his, still wanting more.
âI could tell you so many beautiful things about yourself if you would just follow me.â He smiled and the hand that rested on your chin went down to your hand and held it. You nodded slowly. You barely knew him yet there was so much enchantment in this stranger. Following him wherever he went could be dangerous, but you didnât care. You needed to see where this went. You told yourself that you couldnât live without knowing what would come next.Â
Your movements out of your car were hazy. You just remember it was a nice car. Something that you could never afford in your life. You clung to his arm the entire ride. He drove so fast that everything looked like a picture of a fast-moving moment. Your body is still hot and excited as his skin touches yours. His smirk stayed on his lips every time you looked over at him to make sure that he was still there.
He didnât take you to his apartment like you thought he would. Instead, the two of you stepped into this fancy hotel you had heard of before, but now you couldnât remember the name of. Everything was so sparklyâthe hatred of those who had more money than you hadnât quite hit you yet. Nothing to stick to your morals hit you yet. Just how much liquor did you have that you gained this wonder of living a fairy tale? Your arm is still attached to his, the two of you walked to the elevator and up to a suite.
Hongseok stood back and watched you as you walked into the suite. Your eyes lit up as you pranced around the room still not believing you were there. You felt like a kid in a fairytale, something you would have dreamed about as a little kid. You walked up to him and kissed him on his lips so softly. He kissed back, but there was more hunger in his kiss. His hands went from your shoulders to your elbows to your waist. He lifted you to carry you and your legs wrapped around him. He kept his hands under your thighs as he led you to the bed. His lips smoothly glided across your own. You smiled into the kiss letting your hand touch his hair. His curls felt so soft in your hands.Â
He laid you on top of the bed and pushed you down. His lips went for your neck leaving wet open-mouthed kisses. It was sloppy, but it felt so good. How could you not take in this drug that he was offering you? You pulled his hair in your hand bringing him closer to you and kissing him harder. His attitude changed and he got only hungrier for you, his hands rushed to the buttons of your shirt and began to unbutton your shirt.Â
You let out a gasp when the cold air of the room hit your bare torso. Your hands grasped Hongseokâs hair tightly. You pulled him closer as a way to tell him that you needed more of him. You couldnât get enough of this manâhis hair, eyes, and mouth, especially his mouth. You could only imagine what more he had in store for you.Â
You tapped his shoulders getting him to look up at you with a slightly confused face. You stared into his eyes for a moment. They were so pretty and dragging you in as you could just pull him closer and kiss him. Thatâs what you wanted to do, so thatâs what you did. You gripped his shoulders pulling his body closer to yours. You were unaware of where this amount of need was coming from. Maybe it was the built-up stress from work or the hate towards rich people you kept inside. Either way, there was a fire burning inside of you, and no way it was going to be put out so easily.
Your hands reached down to his jeans to undo them. You swore that if he had them on any longer it was going to kill you. Hongseok stepped back to completely strip in front of you. He motioned you to do the same which you did. The attachment to this man came too fast. He closed the space between the two of you again. Lips attached and flew to what you would describe as heaven on earth. He laid you on your back and kissed your neck as your hand reached down to line him up. He pushed in and let out a deep breath. Your lips met again as he started a slow yet rough pace. His lips went back to your neck. His hands gripped your waist and your back arched trying to have all of the space between the two of you closedâbody on top of body. One plus one equals one right? You bit his shoulder and whispered for him to go faster.Â
He lifted his body from yours to your dismay and pounded into you. His right hand gripped the sheets while the other held your waist. Youâd probably have bruises there in the morning. Your vision was blurring more and more as you felt a knot growing. Your nails dug into the skin of his arm earning a groan in response. That enough pushed you over the edge and your body shook as you came down from your high. Your eyes were closed and all you could see was darkness as Hongseok pulled out and spilled his seed on your stomach. You drifted slowly to sleep listening to Hongseok move around the room. You swore it was the alcohol that made you sleep so soundly.
.
When you woke up you were in another man's arms. Nothing from the previous night stuck to your mind. You jumped up from his arms waking him up. You were panicking looking around the room. Why were you in this fancy hotel? How did you get here? Judging by the guy next to you it mustâve been him, but why? How could this rich guy take so much interest in you?Â
You tried to move slowly out of the man's arms. The man tightened his arms around you leaving opened-mouthed kisses on your neck and shoulders. âYouâre not leaving me that fast,â he said as he buried his face in your neck.
You shook him off of you, âI donât even rememberââ You turned around to meet his eyes. âYouâre that cute guy from the bar!â You saw the guy chuckle.
âThat I am... My name is Hongseok since you donât know.â He smiled at you. You nodded at him and slowly backed away.
âI donât remember what happened last night either and Iâm going to take my leave now. It was nice having this arrangement between us. Sorry, it couldnât be extended, but I have somewhere important to beâŠâ You got up covering yourself with an extra sheet while gathering your clothes, You avoided the manâHongseokâs gaze that you could feel on you. You turned around and waved him bye before slipping around a corner and dressing.
You were double-checking to see if you forgot something. You honestly didnât want to have to come back here. You noticed you didnât have your purse with the things you needed to get home. You really didnât want to see him or ask him. Although you had no choice but to.
You groaned and came out from the corner tucking loose hair behind your ear. âHey, uhm⊠Hongseok? Do you know where I put my purse?â You didnât look him in the eye.
âYour purse?â Hongseok kept his stare on you. He looked away while raising his eyebrows. You followed his gaze to where your purse was. It was sitting perfectly on top of a chair unlike how you found your clothes. You glared at him for a second before retrieving it. Something about it felt off, but you werenât sure what. He couldnât have stolen anything. Why would he when he had a lot of money to spend on this suite?Â
You swing the purse over your shoulder. You were still unsure about his intentions but didnât want to seem too curious in front of him. âThank you for last night.â You put on your best smile before walking out.
That was it. He let you walk out, watching your every move with his cocky, yet admiring glare. You kept on walking until you caught a taxi to your apartment. You sighed and looked into your bag to notice a wad of cash. That ticked you off. First of all, you werenât selling your body to him, and you were pretty upset heâd take you for that. Even if it was indirect it seemed like an insult. Either that or just that you thought every rich person was arrogant.Â
When you got home you put the money away in a drawer. âFor safekeepingâ, you told yourself. The truth? You were disgusted by how he gave it to you. Thatâs probably why he was staring at you so hard. Like you were a game to him. You shook your head. The guy's memory slowly came back as you went around the apartment doing small chores you neglected during the week. You swore to yourself you were going to stay away from the bar for now.Â
.
That promise didnât stick because you were back at the same bar by two weeks as if the interaction wasnât that importantâ to you at least. Hongseok had taken his liking to you and that one interaction still didnât seem enough for him. His time with you that morning didnât seem enough for him and he had been checking around for you. Maybe he gave the bartender a little extra just to tell him when you had arrived. Was his attraction to you that bad? Yes, yes it was. And thatâs why twenty minutes later after you arrived Hongseok was already in the seat next to you.
You were caught up in some thoughts, mad about something that happened at work. Even if it was minor it ticked you off and you found it better to drown it in alcohol. That somehow made problems seem less important to you. Thatâs why Hongseok became to you a less critical problem you had. You hadnât noticed him right away and he wasnât very patient. Or well to him, he had been patient for two weeks.
âWhy didnât you call? I left you my number after all. Itâs not something I do to just anyone.â Hongseok leaned into you, so when you turned your head to look at him he was already so close. He stared into you like his eyes were begging for an answer and it was almost cute.Â
Almost.Â
âDidnât feel the need to,â you said as you took a sip of whatever was in your cup. Just when you needed to cool off steam he came. He still made you irritated and it showed on your face. The crack of his smile when he noticed how pissed you were pissed you off even more. âYou know I might actually have called you back if you didnât insult me so by giving me money. Thanks, but I donât need it.â
Now it was his turn to become cocky. âWell, I thought you might have because, darling, all this alcohol adds up.â He smiled so sweetly at you like you werenât to be taken seriously. You rolled your eyes in response and mumbled asshole.Â
His smile grew even wider. âFine if youâre upset with what I gave you then why donât you just give it back?â He raised his eyebrows with the last syllable. You pressed your lips together looking away. You didnât have it on you and itâs in your home. âDid you spend it already?â He smiled.
âNo, I didn't itâs just that itâs put away. Itâs at my house. Youâre not going there, donât ask. Maybe I could give it to you sometime later. I donât have that much on me right now.â He let you rant about how much you donât want him in your home or to see him.
âOkay, so then can I have your number to set up a time when I can receive it back?â You nodded. You held out your hand to receive his phone, which he gave to you.
You typed in your number and preferred name. You gave it back to him looking up at him and glaring at him as to say âDonât even think of doing something else with my number.â He ignored you and just took his phone. He left after that leaving you intrigued about what would happen next.Â
.
The two of you met up at a rather fancy dinner. He insisted on taking you out while you insisted that it wasnât necessary. Hell, you even saved up a little extra so you could try and pay for what you were going to have. When you met him at the table you slipped a white envelope back to him with the money inside. You gave him a demanding glare again.Â
He took it, slipped it into his suit jacket, and smiled. âI honestly thought you wouldnât show up and bail on me with the money.â
You furrowed your eyebrows. âAnd why would I do that? Iâm honest to my word, and I donât want to be around you.â That was half a lie. Yes, you did want to be around him. Something deep inside of you loved all of these things. You had dreamed of going on a fancy dinner date, and here you were. Itâs just that the circumstances were different from your imagination. You hate rich people because you want to be them. Now you have a chance to be like them. The wavering thought of being with Hongseok or at least meaning something to him was there. You wanted more of a taste of his life. You know he would give it to you with the way he was so eager to have his dinner. Thoughts on how you would bring this up were in your mind.
The two of you ordered and you kept making glances at him. The atmosphere was primarily silent with awkward glances from you to him. Are you still debating on how to ask him for such a thing? You did not doubt that he would accept, but some part of you still wanted to keep your pride. You took a sip of the wine that he ordered still looking away from him. You hoped that this would give you a sliver of confidence that you needed to ask him.
âAre you going to give up on me after this?â You wavered your wine glass in your hand looking him in the eye. You held your gaze strong at him. You were curious about it so it shouldnât be too out of character.
âIn all honesty, I wasnât going to stop here. You shouldâve seen by now that I cannot let you go.â He smiled at you and you smiled back more condescendingly. That was perfect for you at least.
âThen how about I propose an idea?â You batted your eyelashes at him. Cringeyâ but slightly buzzed. âI think that we could arrange a relationship. No ties. No money exchange just you and me in the bed. Not at your home and mine and no personal life. Maybe outings like this. That is if you want to keep me close to you.â You smiled and leaned back into your chair.Â
Hongseok just nodded along with your idea. âI understand.â Those two words made you uneasy. His face was unsure and he was confused about the sudden change. Why now are you suddenly interested in him? Did that mean you were trying to get something else? Either way, he came this far to get youâ even though it took three meetingsâ and he wasnât going to pass it up now. âIâll be setting everything up, so you don't have to trouble yourself.â he squinted his eyes studying you to see if there was an ounce of fear inside of you. You just smiled back at him making him more suspicious of you.Â
You shifted in your seat at his gaze. The suggestion had made things more awkward between the two of you. It was making you a bit irritated on how he could push to pursue you, yet think you were going to do him wrong. Hongseok kept giving you the impression that you were a shallow person. âJust so you know, I donât have any further intentions than sleeping with you,â you spat at him.Â
Again Hongseok cracked a smile at you. âGood because it would be a shame if we had to end.â
âThere is no we in this Mr. Yang.â You glared at him. He was in over his head thinking that he could make some sly remark without you being able to catch it. You tried to eat your food peacefully while not making eye contact. You were leaving after this. No drives home either because who knows what he would try to pull.Â
There was tension building up from the silence and you couldnât help but cough. âSo what do you do for a living?â You pressed your lips together. It was inappropriate to ask that. This whole time you had been mean mugging him. If you were going to in fact be spending time with him and, you know, sleeping with him, then you would have to make this relationship enjoyable. A deep sigh came from you when it was still silent. âHm?â
âI work in business. Iâm a team manager of a good company slowly working my way up through my family.â Hongseok didnât make eye contact with you at all. It was disappointing that he was so cold now. You frowned as you watched him eat his food. Something inside you was waiting for him to ask you what you did, or to see if he even cared.
When no response came from him it was even more frustrating. Blinking a couple of times in frustration, you went back to your food. If he wanted you so bad why was he being so arrogant right now? Why were all rich people such assholes and why did he have to hold up to that stupid standard for them in your head? You smiled kind of irritated looking at your now empty plate. Stress eating wasnât going to make it better, but you could at least enjoy the food and make him pay for it. Forget about now wanting to owe him anything. That didnât matter now. The lack of attention from Hongseok was getting to you. Even if you were being childish now you didnât care because to you he would look down on you anyways.Â
You grabbed your purse and stood behind your seat. âIâm going to the powder room, so if you excuse me.â You gave him a halfhearted smile that may have come off as more sarcastic than intended. He watched you not saying anything in recognitionâ kind of what he did that morning. He kept acting like he didnât care. You wanted him to care about you and to take notice of you. He had you wrapped around his finger in a way you thought you were still in control of everything. You lied to him and he knew it. He liked seeing you walk away from him. He liked watching you as you walked out of the restaurant. He was just sad he wouldn't see your face when you realized you were in his game now.
.
Did you enjoy lying to me and going home?Â
Howâs your bed? Is it comfortable?
If it isnât I could always buy you a better one.You rolled your eyes. He really couldnât be that full of himself, but he was. Why did it have to be that way? You left him on reading. You didnât have time for him or his childish gameâ again ignoring what you had done yesterday. You stayed in your bed curled up in some blankets watching reruns of whatever was on. No, itâs not as exciting as being rich and spending money, but it comforted you. Even watching rich people be stupid on television annoyed you even more. Â
Why was it always the bad rich people that you saw? Was it the money that had gotten to their head? There was a buzz next to you followed by an irritated groan.
Anyways I booked us a hotel this afternoon at four. Donât be late. Dress nice, or donât. Iâll have something picked out for you anyway <3
You scoffed at his message. He was full of himself.
.
You ended up not dressing up for him. What was the point if he was just going to have you change anyway? Instead of seeing him in the hotel room, there was a shopping bag with a note attached to it. Maybe Hongseok was respectful after all. You smiled at the little nite of âTry this on!â It was a black satin dress that went down to your ankle with a pair of lace-up heels and a matching bag. There was no reason for Hongseok to spoil you so well. You already loved it, and this was just the beginning, no matter how hard you tried to hate him.Â
Hongseok was waiting outside of the room arms crossed in a black suit. Black to keep it classy. When he saw you he turned to you and held out his hand in front of you. You smiled taking his hand and following him to a black car. You two exchanged small talk about the dress and you ignored anything he said about you leaving him. You didnât care and didnât want to hear anything more about it. You had no idea where he was taking you, but judging by your outfit it was somewhere fancy. It had been what you always wanted a lavish life a lavish lifestyle.Â
The car stopped in front of a building that looked like it was made in the early 20th century. Hongseok stepped out of the car to get to your door and held out his hand once again. You took his hand and followed him inside where he gave them the tickets. Your eyes searched around you, there were no posters for a musical. There wasnât any information just decoration and mirrors. Your eyes caught on a mirror in front of you. It painted a rich couple on a date. He took you on a date.Â
He led the two of you to a private booth claiming that his family had reserved this for them and that he had to go today to this opera to support a friend. In all honesty, opera wasnât your thing and he admitted it wasnât for him either, but to root someone on their debut? Thatâs what the two of you were for. Plus he said he didnât want to go alone and you were in this deal with him. That had you thinking that maybe the gifts werenât gifts at all and it was just something so he could seem fashionable. You were taking advantage as you were just being an accessory that he dressed himself up with.Â
Instead of paying attention to the plot of the opera and the music, you were staring as Hongseok focused. His eyebrows were knotted together and ever so often he would break out into a small smile. You began a guessing game on whoever his friend was and then you noticed that he only smiled when one person sang.Â
You flipped the playbill open and searched for the man. âJo Jinho..â, you mumbled getting Hongseok to turn to you. You smiled to yourself âHe has such a pretty voice, your friend.âÂ
âThat he does.â Hongseok smiled and nodded. His eyes were glowing and he couldnât be even more proud of his friend. By looking at him you could tell how high Jinho was on Hongseokâs list of people. You smiled to yourself for the rest of the night now appreciating Hongseok as a person and looking forward to meeting his friend.Â
At the end of the night, you met Jinho. He came off as an incredibly sweet person. Hongseok kept his arm around your waist the entire time while the three of you conversed. You watched as Jinhoâs eyes wandered to the arm around your waist. You could there was slight confusion about who you were, but he never acknowledged it.Â
The rest of the night went by smoothly. Taking in too much alcohol was your thing, and it didnât stop when you were with him. The disbelief of being with him was fueling your need to feel loose, and you were. Your body was leaning on Hongseokâs constantly. You were feeding him this relationship he wanted purely out of spite. You wanted to give him a taste knowing it wasnât real. Was it getting to him? You didnât bother to check if it was.Â
Afterward, he got you a taxi back to the hotel that he had earlier. Presuming that you were going to give him the clothes back you followed along with him. Again the car ride was silent with Hongseok looking out the window. He was handsome and you would go for himâ if he wasnât a rich prick. Maybe it was youâ or the alcohol but you just kept leaning into him. The moonlight on his skin was something so magical.
âCan I kiss you?â Was it you? Perhaps it is. Perhaps thereâs more attractive than you give off. Hongseokâs head turned your way and he blinked a couple of times to see if he heard you right. It was cute. Something in your stomach turned. You werenât sure if you liked the way alcohol brought down your prejudice against rich people. No matter how ridiculous it is.Â
âYou can.â Hongseok fixed his posture in his seat. You could tell that he was caught off guard by your words. Too drunk to think anymore about it, you closed the space between the two of you.Â
.
The next morning you woke up before him. This time when you moved off of the bed he didnât wake and you got dressed and left. No text from him or anything the whole way back to your apartment. There was a little taste of disappointment that settled in the back of your mind. You wanted some attention from him. Even if it was just a small text. Last night was a blast and you wanted more of it.
Almost half of the day went by until your phone buzzed. You checked it happily thinking he was just going to tease you, but that didnât seem to be the case.Â
So we might have been spotted by tabloids last night
And we might have caught my parents' attention
And we might have to go out to dinner with them.Â
You face palmed yourself. You didnât know anything about him. Yeah, you knew he was rich, but had no idea exactly where his money came from how could you be that stupid? What if you were messing with someone you shouldnât be? What were you even going to do when you met them? Your mind was racing places and you returned to the hotel room.Â
Hongseok was still thereâ surprisingly. He was walking back and forth and didnât seem to notice you. He might have been just as worried as you were about the situation. âHongseok?â He turned to look back feeling a sort of relief. You gave him a soft smile and walked closer to him. âSo whatâs the plan? Family meeting as soon as possible?âÂ
He took a deep breath and turned to you. There was a sort of twinkle in his eye when your eyes met. âYeah, Iâm thinking about that. Thatâs also what my mom is requesting, but sheâs very judgy and I donât know If I want to put you through that, or not.â You could see him panicking again.
âHey itâs okay Iâll do my best to please them.â You gave him another smile. You donât know what it was, but something inside of you just wanted to see him smile. Itâs just human kindness. You donât like him, why would you? Heâs just insanely attractive and thatâs it. Thereâs nothing more to it and even if last night had made you respect him more, it wasnât that much.Â
Hongseok looked up at you finally returning a smile. âOkay, so howâs Saturday for dinner? They would want to meet at their house. I could set some things up for you.â He grabbed his phone now scrolling through different websites of clothesâ women's clothes to be specific. He wanted to find what would make his parents like you. Itâs not that he didnât trust your styleâ he didnât trust his parents. He knew they could ruin the way you looked at yourself. If they didnât like youâ or found one thing âwrongâ they would say it most bluntly and would take it far.Â
This time you didnât question what he was doing. Based on the dress he had picked out for you from before you could tell that he was looking out for you. If he could gain some ounce of trust, he had gained it with his fashion sense. You sat back on one of the chairs in the room and let yourself rest about the issue. The thought of leaving didnât come to you. It seemed he needed the support, and you werenât one to back down.
You ate dinner with him soon after by ordering room service. It seemed like he never left the hotel room. Now that you started to look around there were drawers opened with folded clothes inside, and his laptopâ you guessedâ was at a coffee table. Once again, it hit you that you didnât know much about Hongseok and his life. You ate with him in silence. Trying to crack a conversation now wouldnât help kill the awkwardness that you were eager to get away from.Â
âWhen was the last time you saw your parents? So I know how the vibe will be.â Your eyes met his and he still looked uneasy to the subject. He swallowed putting his hand over his mouth.
âAbout two weeks ago. Things should be fine⊠theyâre just very nosey.â You nodded. You were feeling pretty cool about the whole dinner. Things would be fine as long as Hongseok was there. You turned to him looking over his features again. Maybe he wasnât that ignorant person you first took him for.
The day arrived, and you were a nervous wreck. Hands fidgety, palms sweaty, and legs shaky as you opened the door to the hotel room. Another bag this time placed on the table. It was a dress suit that was a plum color. Not as pretty as the dress he had given you before, but it was still nice. It was still a perfect fit. He left little gold accessories in the bag. Everything still felt so distant to you. It felt weird how there was no exchange of words between the two of you. Just gifts here and there plus outings.Â
He was waiting for you down in the lobby wearing a black suit with a matching tie, so you had to guess his parents were formal people. He had his eyes on you watching you as you walked toward him. His eyes wandered the lobby hoping to meet someone elseâs gaze. He pulled you in for a quick kiss when you reached him. It was quick and sweetâ something just for show in case someone was watching the two of you. You hooked your arm in his and walked him to a car. You two had come up with some sort of fake storyâ
âWe met at university. We fell in love and you wanted to have a humble job at some company. I of course lied to you about my status. You didnât know you were oblivious but sweet. When you found out it didnât change much, but I felt the need to shower you with gifts as many chances as I got. You only accepted it that night because you wanted to support my friend whom you know I care deeply about. It was a one-time thing. Make sure to pay attention to anything I say. Read between the lines with me. Do not pay attention to what they say. Donât let them break you. Theyâre just mean because theyâre overprotective.âYou looked out the window of the car. It was silent with you, Hongseok, and the driver. He kept looking over at you. His hand was so close to yours wanting to reassure you, but not sure if he could. To him the two of youâ could he even consider the two of you close? You were going to meet his parent. That had to count for something, right? He caressed your hand smoothing the skin. He wouldnât meet your eyes. He didnât want to see your reaction afraid of rejection. You held his hand squeezing it as a thank you.
 Things were mostly unsaid between the two of you when it came to the way you felt about one another. There was a sense of adoration for the other person. It was the way you carried yourself for him. You were fierce with high self-respect, not taking anyoneâs shit. For you, it was the way he flaunted but still, he had something in him that was sweet. You wanted to unlock it but didnât know how. This dinner was a good way to change it, or show the potential the two of you had if you were in a relationship. He believed with all his heart that the two of you could work this out, why couldnât you?
Hongseok helped the two of you out of the car wrapping his arm around your waist once again. He made sure that the two of you were close together as you went inside. He had close eyes on you and his parents. He didnât let you talk at all. Itâs not that he didnât trust you. He just didnât want to give his parents the chance to put you on the spot. You two made it to the dinner portion until his parents found some way to get your blood pumping.Â
âOh donât you remember Laura? I miss her at our family dinners with her. She was such a sweet and proper girl.â His mom gave off a smile. You kept up the smile on your face, but you gripped your dress. Hongseok said they were nosey, not just plain rude. His mom reminded you of the reason that you hated rich people. The thick remarks were filled with passive aggression. You didnât want to be here anymore and forgot the reason why you came. It wasnât important anymore.
You shifted in your seat and a hand met yours under the table. You were still silent, you felt so out of place and distant. This wasnât real anymore. The rest of the night became one of those moments that would be blocked out of your head forever, thankfully forgotten. You closed yourself off even on the ride back to that damn Hotel. So lost in your tired thoughts of going home you didnât notice the grip Hongseok still had on your hands. He held them so dearlyâ so close to him. He felt bad for what his parents did, secretly cursing them out in his thoughts. He felt protective of youâ and ashamed. What he was doing to try and make you smile or form some other relation between the both of you wasnât working anymore.Â
For what itâs worth you felt comforted by his thought. Maybe it wasnât so bad to be with him. Maybe he wasnât so bad himself.
can you make a reaction of pentagon if they gonna see their ex girlfriend after break up
a/n: Hihi! I know I said two weeks, but I've been balancing school and home life. I'm also re-reading this piece I wrote a while back and brainstorming for new things. Also, I've never written reactions before, so I hope you enjoy it. I'm sorry this is so late.

Jinho
He would be the type to avoid a meet-up.
Itâs not like the relationship ended badly, but itâs for convenience.Â
Jinho wouldnât want to step on your feelings if there were any remaining
Honestly, for him, there was still something left over
He's delusional. Literally gaslighting himself to think heâs avoiding you for your sake.
The meet-up would be accidental like it was meant to happen.Â
Jinho honestly hadnât been out of his apartment in a few weeks. He had been having second thoughts about the entire breakup. Was it the best decision? He wasnât sure. Although, the food had run out in his house, and takeout was expensive these days.Â
He was walking through the isles bored when he saw a familiar figure. He didnât see your face, but he didnât have to. Something inside him wanted to approach you, but he didnât. He couldnât and he didnât know why. He would rather die than go up to you. He stood there for minutes wondering whether to move past you or do a 180.Â
He ended up just staring at you, taking in this moment of seeing you again. You were looking at some snacks on the shelf when you turned your head and looked over at him. He watched as the smile spread on your face, and how you waved at him. He reciprocated it, all without much thought. The moment flew by too fast for him because, in the next second, you were gone for the next item on your grocery list.Â
Hui
Hui would most likely become obsessed with his work
Anything to distract himselfÂ
Maybe heâd blow money for some serotonin
Anything to give him a quick whiff of some happinessÂ
Heâs been writing songs like crazy and they're all sappy breakup songs
He doesnât like any of them thoughÂ
He needs a break and a bad
Hui needed some time out of his studio which was now too stuffy for him. Just a simple walk would do for him. For what he meant for a short walk around the building, he ended up in a park nearby. He sat on a swing slowly rocking back and forth. His eyes were closed taking in the sound around him. It was quiet, barely anyone was around. Still, the sound of the wind and the trees slowly dancing to it making their sound, The casual cars driving by in the background. That was the serenity and peace he had been looking for this whole time.Â
When he finally opened his eyes he noticed a familiar figure sitting at a bench. They were eating lunch alone with their head down. He didnât have to see their face to know who it was. He smiled to himself, maybe this was the motivation and clarity he sought.Â
Hongseok
Heâd be more of the jealous type.Â
Heâs most likely the type to stalk a pageÂ
He made a fake account just for you!
okay, maybe thatâs not that charming.Â
he regrets his decision though
he's sincere about that
Lately, Hongseok had been feeling like you were losing interest in him, or you were getting over this. With all that he still felt for you, he couldnât let you. He still couldnât let you go and needed something to drag you in with him. So, he devised a plan. He would ârandomlyâ meet up with you.Â
He got used to the schedule that you had, and have, so it wasnât that hard to find you. He had crossed your path multiple times after the break-up, but neither of you had decided to go and talk to each other. He was too shy, and you wanted to get over him. It was better for you anyway, and sometimes seeing him just hurt.
Not this time when you saw him. You two had managed to get on the same bus. Although, you knew hongseok had a car and could drive. It made you wonder what happened to him after you two separated. You locked eyes with him, and he shared a smile with you. He took that as an invitation to come closer to you on the bus. He made small talk with you for most of the ride. Something about the whole experience felt like deja vu almost as if you had met him again, but in a new life.
Shinwon
He plays it off but heâs most definitely hurtingÂ
He hangs around other people for a distractionÂ
He is not okay though
When heâs alone or at home he mostly pouts
Dont come about his mood though because he will snap
He also won't leave the house unless he has to
The guys have to make him come out, so they take him to an inside amusement park
They may spoil him a bit too much.Â
It seemed like Shinwon was as good as new. He was smiling, laughing, and making his awful jokes. Honestly, Jinho and Hui kind of wished they left him at home. It seemed like this was the perfect thing to bring him back from being a literal human zombie.
They were walking around the theme park when he saw you giggling with your friends. You guys had rented school uniforms on. He was happy that you were happy though. The way you laughed or held your friend's hand. He didnât notice how long he had been staring.Â
He was sent back to reality when Jinho tapped him on the shoulder. âYou ready to head out already?â Shinwon looked back at him just nodding. He didnât know if Jinho knew if he was looking at you or not. Either way, nothing was mentioned on the way home.
Changgu
He lives in a cafe.Â
Or he visits it a lot
Either way, he wants to run into you
First, it was the old cafe you two used to visit
Then your favorite cafe
But nothing, he couldnât
One day he gave up and just started to work part-time at a random cafe
He was working late nights due to his day job. He was enjoying working at a cafe. He loved the smell of coffee beans after all, and wouldnât complain if he smelled like them all day. One thing was for sure though, he brought a lot of business to the cafe.Â
Everyone went to the cafe to see the cute barista. He smiled with all of the new attention, but he wasnât quite sure if he enjoyed it or not. Some part of him still hoped that one day you would walk into those doors. He convinced himself that all of the girls he turned down were for you. He was staying loyal to you.Â
The only problem was that he only worked at the late-night, and it was not the most favorable time for a cup of coffee.Â
One night while he was making one of his famous cups of coffee, he heard a familiar laugh. His head shot up, he had to see your face again. Although, he frowned as soon as he spotted you in the crowd. Your arm was locked around another guyâs laughing and leaning into him.Â
He frowned and turned over to his coworker, âI'm taking my 15.â
Yanan
The relationship was short
Surely not long enough for deep feelings
That's what he thought before he broke the news to you
But lately, he had been missing you
Denies it and tries to play it slick
Iâm thinking this is like a college fling thing
So you guys could run into one another
Finals were coming up and Yanan was in the library with his head stuck in one of the textbooks. He had been there for hours, and he was starting to get hungry. He had a six-hour final that he was preparing for, and he could not flunk it. He searched in his bags to see if he had any snacks left over. Luckily he still had some, leaning back and eating it.
He took that time to scan his surroundings. He had been focused on his work for so long that he hadnât noticed the amount of people that had come and gone. This time around he noticed you dozed off on a desk. Your head was lying on a textbook sleeping soundly. You looked so pretty to him. He went close to you and put your jacket over you.
He didnât quite understand his actions or what possessed him to buy snacks for you. He smiled to himself as he wrote a note. He teased you about falling asleep in the library and how you should take better care of yourself. He didnât sign the note, smirking. Maybe he could tease you more like this in the future.
Yuto
He is already a quiet person, so I feel like he kept the relationship very private
Barely anyone knew that the two of you had broken up
The break up wasnât on good terms
The two of you could not agree on somethingÂ
He hated arguments and everything that came with it
He also hated telling you when he disagreed with something because it would lead to even more arguments even if it didnât have to be one
The two of you were petty anyways
He tried to avoid you, and the places you hung out frequently
Yuto was out with a large group of friends. It was unusual for him, but he was enjoying the extra company. They were at a large shopping mall, so it wasnât an ideal place to be. He was quieter than usual. Maybe it was because he didnât want to draw a lot of attention to himself. That was the reason. He wanted some quiet time but didnât want to be alone. Maybe this was the best solution for him.Â
He thought of himself over the relationship. Maybe he was being too harsh, but he thought if he heard that you died in a week or so he wouldnât care. Okay, that was cruel of him, but he needed some way to distance himself.Â
The sad part was, when he saw you at a store with another guy, his heart sank. He was mad that he still felt some type of way about it and about you. He was disappointed in himself, nonetheless, he played it off and went on with his day.Â
Kino
I'm going with the cliche trope
Heâs just a party guy to meÂ
And I think heâd go to parties to let off his cool. Especially if it was a harsh break-upÂ
I feel like heâd still be jealous and possessive after the relationship
If anyone would try to say something bad about you, he would get mad at them.Â
Heâs still sweet as ever, even if it ended on bad terms or not
Kino was at a party, like usual. He had a huge social circle. He was floating around the party talking to a lot of different people. He was feeling better tonight. He preferred to put himself out there when he didnât feel up to it. Honestly, he was feeling a lot better.Â
He did notice you when you walked in, it would be hard for him not to stare. He watched over you, still feeling protective. He knew a lot of the people at the party, some of them having a bad reputation. He would rather watch over you from a distance, not ready to face you.Â
That didnât matter when a random guy came up to you. He didnât know him, but he could not stand the fact that another man was talking to you. He came up to you putting his arm over your shoulder casually.Â
âI forgot to ask you what drink you wanted.â Kino kept a sly smirk on his face. You looked a little upset and surprised to see him there, but he just brushed it off. It was fun to cock-block you.
Wooseok
I think he would be quieter about the breakup
He seems like he keeps more to himselfÂ
But heâs generally sweet to everyoneÂ
I think the motivation would be down
He wants to keep things on good terms, but that doesnât mean friends.Â
Heâs not the type to text you after
Unless he needed somethingÂ
Wooseok had gathered up some motivation lately, after looking at how messy his life had been lately. He was picking his stuff up and putting things in their right places. During that, he found some items that were yours, and he noticed that some of his things had been missing. He frowned, he didnât want to do any confronting, but he wanted his things back. Thereâs nothing wrong with that, right?
His hands were sweaty as he texted you. He simply stated that he had a few of your things and he thought that you had a few of his. It was simple and he tried to be as polite as possible. He was not trying to make anyone upset.Â
After a few days you hadnât answered his text, so he tried again. This time his tone was a little hasty, and when you responded, it was in an aggravated tone. He was confused. You didnât want to meet with him and made that clear. He suggested mail, but that seemed to upset you as well.Â
When he saw you later that week on the street, he said nothing. He did nothing. Any feelings that he had left over for you, were gone. Then he knew he could move on.
Hiiiii
I'm back for like forever. I've been going through stuff and I've been busy. I'm working on a request and reading over a draft. Expect something to pop up by the end of this month <3.

You and Wooseok have been friends since your freshman year of high school. You two kicked it off in your biology class. It started as a âhelping each otherâ relationship. You sometimes gave him answers and vice versa. The relationship between the two of you got closer and closer over time and there was change. The cooler outside of him is still there but also shows you his goofy side. And then there were bits and moments when you would see him clam up and get red. Sometimes it was by little things that you couldnât identify. Either way, he would push it away as if it were nothing.
Things like that made you tease him more about it. Not letting anything go that he did. Even though you would find it cute when he got red you teased him about it. Your heart bested faster and faster every time that happened it was like just seeing him laugh it off put you on a fluffy cloud. Everything else disappeared and it was suddenly you and him in the classroom.
Even though you would spend class time with him there wasnât much outside of class. Sure there was lunch, but the two of you didnât have the same period. And after school? You mostly spent that with friends and thought it was too late into the year to ask him. He never asked you either, it was this weird border of close and not close.
The two of you would often talk and walk out of the class together. His class was up another floor and you had lunchâ two completely different ways. Thatâs where it would end as it did today. You two were blabbering something about how the teacher gave out too much work for your good.
âNo cause I donât know how Iâm going to finish this!â You said while looking up at him. You were already out of the class. Hopefully, the two of you werenât loud enough that the teacher could hear.
Wooseok laughed, âYeah might not do it, so make sure you do it.â You started to mimic him halfway through it. Yeah right like he had a right to tell you what to do. Although you would often wonder how much you would do for him.
You rolled your eyes. âNice try, but Iâll do it anyway cause I need to get my grades up.â
He smiled at you. âThere you go finally making some good decisions.â He turned to look at the stairs. It was a small walk.
âBye see you tomorrow?â You smiled at him.
âYeah cause I canât stand being alone with her,â Wooseok said rolling his eyes and waving back. You laughed and turned to where you were headed.
You plugged your headphones in and walked down the hall. It was still crowded due to the passing period. You smiled to yourself at the way he had talked to you. He could make you fawn over him over the smallest things. Maybe it was his cool personality that made you like him. The way even when it was awkward he always found a way to reverse it.
As you were thinking about Wooseok someone pulled on your backpack. You said a small âAhâ even though it scared you. You hadnât even gotten that far from the stairs. You pulled a headphone out and looked back. It was Wooseok and he was smiling. He had said something about the Ah and you commented on how it wasnât fair.
âHey, actually why arenât you in band class? Are you going to skip?â You looked up at him puzzled. He had skipped before, once following you to eat lunch. It was awkward and didnât go well.
âNo, not really. I just wanted to stall sometime before I have to go there. I really donât like to go. Plus I stay in the back most of the time.â He laughed and continued to walk with you. Until it would be too far for him to turn back. You turned back and waved him goodbye, again. There was honest confusion about why he turned back. Maybe it was boredom? Part of you wanted to believe that he liked you even a little bit.
You smiled taking that false hope that was there. Maybe it wasnât that fault in the way that Wooseok was smiling to himself while going to band class. The way band class didnât seem so bad now just because he got to spend a few more moments with you. Even if it was a little moment it would give him enough to push through playing the violin. Itâs not that he was bad at it, it just sucked as a class. He grabbed his violin case and headed out of the back.
Aside from now and then back and forth texts he couldnât just text you more. Or could he? Suddenly he was on his phone looking back at his messages to see what was the last thing the two of you talked about. Probably something about that class. He clicked on it and he almost wanted to laugh. It was an unanswered cup pong from about a month ago. He answered it just out of nowhere.
~~~
Your phone buzzed and a familiar name appeared on your screen, Itâs been so long... Like a month maybe. You smiled to yourself. Maybe it was about earlier? And what even was earlier? It was a good feeling. A weightless feeling that grew in your stomach. It was still a feeling you were confused about. You answered him back.
You finally decided to text back? Got that bored?
It was true that the chat hadnât been open in a month and to text him out of the blue. It never crossed your mind. He sent back another game with a cocky message.
Just giving you time to practice.
Yep. Heâs done. Yeah, he was giving you time to practice when you won the game.
Honestly, I donât play iMessage games with anyone else.
You clicked on the game and saw him finish it all in that round. There was no way that you could make it. You were already behind him in the game, and you didn't make it. You didnât make any shots.
⊠Maybe youâre right about me needing practice.
You made a downward smile. Even having to admit that he was right was going to get some cocky response out of him and having to hear him? Thatâs a whole other story.
See?? Wooseok is always right and especially when it comes to cup pong.
I am the KINGGGGG of cup pong!!
ï»ż
Wooseok, I am officially done with you. Iâm logging off of this phone.
Yeah, you said that but still sent another game of cup pong. Man, it was just too good to change. It was a way to keep things between the two of you flowing and it did. Talking more and more and coming to be closer with each other. You started inviting each other out.
You were bowling out with him again. It was something you two could joke about. It was chill competitive and fun. Like most things are between the two of you. You two munching on pizza, or whatever you two had ordered that day. It was something different, mostly burgers. Wooseok loved them then got all shy when he accidentally spilled sauce on his hand. This time there was grease everywhere. It was perfect. Nothing that a little food could cheer you up from losing to him at one point. You swore to him that you were going to beat him up, but then he pouted. By then it was over no one was fighting.
âYou want to play another game?â You turned to him as you ate another slice. No lie the pizza was so good for frozen pizza.
Wooseok gave you a smirk, âSo you can lose again? Anytime.â He let out a small laugh and finished his pizza in a whole bite like that was the punch line.
You furrowed your eyebrows, âDonât be so sure. You could jinx it and I could end up winning instead! Beat the giant! Short people power like your friend says.â That caused him to burst out laughing. Sadly, he didnât choke on the pizza.
âNo, youâre wrong for doing Jinho like that. He doesnât deserve that.â Wooseok stopped you in your track about saying something about Jinho. It was cute when he got protective over his friends. You couldnât help but smile at him. His eyes met yours for a brief moment before turning away and blushing. He cleared his throat, âLike I said he deserves better. Short people do, so how about that game?â
You nodded, âOn it! Sir, Jung, sir!â You laughed getting up and fake marching up to the pay counter to buy the both of you another game. You hurried back to the spot when you got another game. You did a celebration dance. âMission accomplished Sir Jung, sir!â You giggled and went to grab your ball and roll it hitting a seven. Another victory dance came your way.
Giggles came from Wooseok as he watched you. Maybe you could feel the same way he did when he laughs at you. He wanted you to feel the same thing that had been growing inside him more and more these past few weeks. These feelings that he couldnât stop, nor explain. He burned for you to notice him and maybe you had and he was just too dense to see it. Moments like these of the two of you so happy, he wished they could last forever. He pushed another smirk on his face. Be cool. He grabbed his bowl and let it roll. He hit a nine.
You frowned because you had wanted to be ahead of him. The two of you ended up being tied wasnât a good way to start the game with each other. He fought back a smile, but it escaped it. He ended up smirking and you took it as an invitation to press him about beating you.
âCâmon! You say you were going to let me win!â You whined sort of laughing at your behavior.
Wooseok smirked and rolled his eyes. âI said nothing of the sort only that short people deserve better. That didnât mean that I was going to go down without a fight.â That caused an eye roll from you.
The whole game went on like that. The two of you arguing over winning. You ended up winning in the end and Wooseok swore that he went easy on you. You swore that he was just saying that to save some of his pride. The two of you cleaned up your area and left the place together. It was getting dark outside. Just how long was that last game.
You looked at him, âYou wanna take the bus together? The main one should lead us far enough. I think I live farther, but it should be okay, right?â
âYeah, and itâs getting late. Wouldnât be proper to go out with a person the leave them alone in the end.â It was so smooth what he said. And if you were distracted you couldâve missed him calling this a date like there were expectations.
âOh my! Jung Wooseok! Are you calling this a date?â You dragged out the A-in date to mask your fluster if it was even showing. Now, you noticed his face get hotter and you smirked. âIâm just playing! I know you don't mean it,â You said as you locked elbows with him. âNow letâs go before we miss our carriage off to the sunsetâ oh! I mean bus!â You laughed at that last part. Wooseok laughed too, and the awkward feeling had left and gone someplace else.
That last comment from him had you staying up though wondering if he had meant it like that or not. You didnât let him explain it and some part of you now wish you had. It was slowly eating you up inside. That light feeling in your stomach was coming back and you hid your face. You swore you couldnât face him in the fourth period Monday. You thought if you see him or even hug him you might not let go. You donât want to let go of him. Something emotional inside of you craves more of him.
Are you awake?
Sorry, I canât sleep.
Your phone lit up and your heart beat faster. No way he just. Is he asking for attention? Was he intentional earlier? Is he playing you right now? This canât be true, right? You blinked a few times and even pinched yourself. You fake cried because even doing those things was childish and you could just imagine him chuckling at you. You wanted him out of your mind. He was driving you insane.
Yeah I am
Did you run out of people to ask?
No, youâre just the first person on my list.
Hard to believe.
The corner of his lips twitched up into a smirk then he let it break out into a smile. âHow about a real relationship between the two of us? A romantic one, not a platonic one⊠If you feel the same wayâ You watched him his confidence faded and his hand went to scratch the back of his head. Your smile grew a sort of genuine one mixed with the same smile you have when youâre about to tease him.
âI would love to be in a relationship with you, Jung Wooseok.â You let out a small smile. He met your eyes with his lit up. The two of you stared at each other for a moment before locking lips. The kiss was slow and smooth. The two of you felt the moment. When you pulled away the both of you laughed.
âHeight is going to be a problem because youâre too tall.â You teased him poking at his chest.
âYou know I could always pick you up and run away?â
âOh yeaââ, You didnât have enough time because he lifted you over his shoulder and ran.
I know like 90% of pentagonâs fandom cannot see this video without a vpn, but this borderline dictates whether or not kino is going to participate in street man fighter so as fellow pentagon junkies⊠please open this video and press like because once again this is a sick numbers game. I want kino to win though and he wants to dance his little off ass off too so thank you kindly.Â
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Rain. Good background noise and something you never really minded to hear. It was a soothing sound that could rock you to sleep, but for others.. Well it could bring them horror. Maybe for some it brings thoughts. There are many things rain could be tied to, but for you it was a sense of comfort. The only part was that you were alone and missing a person by your side. A person with you inside while the rain pounded would make a full scene. Just you and that one person who you could just sit with in comfortable silence.
Your hand hovered over the call button for Yuto. A friend who you had missed dearly and when talking about being someone in while the rain poured heâs the only person who comes to mind. Maybe itâs how long you were staring at your screen, but your eyes began to sting. Blinking a few times to get rid of the stingâ or your hesitancy. Your finger finally pressed down on the call button putting the phone up to your ear while biting your lip.
 One⊠Two⊠âHello?â His voice was soft on the line. You sucked in a breath to take in this moment. Time moves so slow while your heart beats so fast.Â
Your lips turned to a smile, âDo you want to come over?â His voice gave reassurance as he hummed like he was thinking about whether he was going to accept the offer. Your smile grew even bigger knowing it was his way of teasing you.
âOf course. Iâll be on my way.âÂ
The line hung up with a smile still plastered on your face. Okay maybe Yuto was a bit more than a friend to you in your mind, but what did that matter? He never said anything to move the relationship forward and neither did you. Sure he had other friends who he flirted with so what was the difference with you? Was it how he smiled at you everytime he saw you or when he raised his eyebrows? Was it the way he teased you on certain things? Maybe it was that. Those were the things that made your heart flutter and question so many things, but at the same time make you fear the loss of his friendship.Â
~
It seemed like your mind went in circles along with the popcorn in the microwave. Your mind was fried as you tried not to get too giddyâ to act ânormalâ in front of Yuto. What did that matter anyway when he was your friend? The microwave beeped as you were lost in your own thoughts. From the side of your view a hand reached out to open the door of the microwave and take out the bag of popcorn for you. Your eyes watched the hand and you turned around to face Yuto.
He looked concerned. You stared blankly at him. He blinked a few times before saying, âGot something on your mind? This isnât the first timer youâve blanked out.. First on the phone, then answering the door, or getting blankets from your room. Whatâs going on?â Your eyes failed to meet his- a bit ashamed of the way you were acting.
Your eyes were still on the ground, taking in slow deep breaths. Should your feelings for him really be shared? It felt right at the moment as if everything led up to this even if it was a rocky road. What other excuse could you give him, but the truth? âI think I have a crush on you. It might sound a bit weird, but Iâm most comfortable with you. I feel safe with you and I enjoy every moment we spend together.â You pressed your lips together and your eyes slowly looked up at his.
He smiled so brightly with his eyes closed and his teeth showing and moved you to smile too. Youtube pulled you into a hug wrapping his arms around you and holding you tight. He didnât say anything, but it was a yes in the way he separated the two of you and laid a kiss on your forehead. So sweet and loving he was the rest of the night as you two lay together in each otherâs comfort with the rain. Now the scene was complete with you and Yuto in each otherâs embrace. So sweet and silent as the night passed like how the next night would pass.

Is it always good to have these kinds of deals? No. Does it matter to the people in the relationship? Noâ well.. Maybe sometimes. Not at first anyways, but isnât that how everyone jumps into these deals? You couldnât remember the exact day it happened or what age you were exactly, but you remember the moment like it was the only thing that ever happened in your childhood.
You and Hongseok had been friends since forever. Days sharing secrets and running around with each other. Those days were usually bright and filled with sun and energy. Maybe the reason why it stuck out so much was because it had different energy. It was sometime in the afternoon. It was one of those rare occasions when you were over his house. You were sitting with them on the couch in the living room. The couch was set back up against a window. Now the sun was setting, maybe it was winter. You two were facing the opposite of the couch and looking out into the horizon. The memory of the sun made everything hazy, you guessed it was some kind of curse that the sun had. Hongseok had seemed sad at the time, and he was quieter than usual.
You nudged him on the shoulder. âHey whatâs wrong? You seem sad.â Your voice dripped in worry. Hongseok finally looked up at you. His eyes were glossy and his lips were pointing down.
âWhat if I never find love and never get married like my mom?â A tear fell from his eyes. At that point in time you were too young to understand that. Your family was there and that was your normality, but Hongseokâs normality was different. He was raised by a single mom which now had affected him. Even though you didnât understand him fully you held him close in your arms.
âHow about if weâre not married by 28, weâll marry each other?â Hongseok finally looked back up at you. His eyes were glossier than before, but now he was smiling. That was your favorite part about this memory. His smile, and you wanted to keep that smile forever. âI promise.â
It had been years since then, but it didnât feel like that. Time always flew by when you were with him. You have stood by Hongseok since forever, but that doesnât mean that the relationship between you two was always close. There would be times in your friendship when things werenât close, or you didnât talk to him that much. It had felt like you lost that once strong connection that you had with him since you two were little. Yeah, you two had noticed it, but no one spoke on the issue. It was more of a laid-back relationship where no one really argued or picked sides with other friends. Maybe thatâs why you could go days without talking with him. The relationship started like this in highschool when he started to have a peak of interest in other girls. Even if you saw another girl clinging to his arm it didnât hurt. Or thatâs what you had told yourself.
It did bother you. Maybe thatâs why you had grown distant, you didnât want to grow in between him and his girlfriend. You didnât want his happiness to fade away, and that promise that you had made as a kid was if he didn't find someone, not you. You watched him from afar, not being the reason his smile would wipe off his face. Itâs not like your relationship with him was always from afar because you two talked, just not with other people. You felt guilty because it felt like you were a secret you had to hide, and he felt guilty because he didnât want to make you feel left out of his life. You were still something special to him.
Nevertheless, the two of you kept living your lives as you were. The idea of stepping over the other boundaries and making them upset was too much for the both of you. You both watch each other and copy mental notes. He forgot about the promise as time passed on with Layla, his girlfriend. She grew up knowing your close bond and had given you a warning in the beginning of her escorting Hongseok.
The two of you had met âcoincidentallyââ in the girlâs bathroom. You were washing your hands while she walked towards you with other girls. She leaned against the sink that was next to yours. She made sure that the lollipop made a loud sound when she pulled it out of her mouth. You looked up at her confused. At this point in time you were still fairly close with Hongseok and it was the winter of your Freshman year. After watching him for a while, the girls in the school started to grab the confidence to begin to ask him out. Layla was one of those girls. The only difference was that she had a problem with you.
She looked you up and down with one of her signature dirty looks. You werenât stupid, you had seen her giving you those all the time. That was when he was giving her those nice loving looks. âLet me tell you this right here, right now. I am interested in Hongseok, and if Iâm going to date youâre going to need to back off.â You kept silent. You knew Hongseok liked her and that if you said anything she wouldnât hesitate to ruin your long-term friendship.
âJust promise me that youâll make him happy, okay?â You gave her a look of warning. You really didnât like her attitude, but if he could be happy dating her, you had no other say.
âOh Iâll do just that.â
âThen Iâll keep my distance.â
âDealâ
After that day as Layla slowly made her moves you slowly distanced yourself from him. Maybe you shouldâve kept strong and held onto him. You watched as he slowly ditched the weekends to hang out within you to hang out with her. You encouraged him each time and told him how he deserved to go out with someone he liked. Yeah maybe that was sarcasm. Maybe it still is now. She kept her promise, so that at least was worth it. As time passed on he got closer with her, it hurt less.

It was late at night. Your ceiling was something that you found yourself staring up at lately. You would wonder, would he keep his promise? Layla treated him good even though she had been such a bitch to you. Does he even care about you, or does he distance himself from you because you did it first? Would you ever get an answer to your thoughts? The best thing that you could do is move on, but it was easier said than done.
You picked up your phone scrolling through contacts and people who you talked to lightly. Maybe there was someone who you could build a new relationship with. It would take some time, but it would be worth it in the end. You wouldnât use that person, but it would be nice to start anew. Your eyes met the contact information of Yanan. You had worked on a project with him some time ago.
It wouldnât be so bad if you just checked up on him? People do it all the time.
âHey how have you been?â You bit your lip, was this too out of the blue, and would he even respond? It had to be worth a try, right?
âIâve been good. Late night?â You forgot about that for a second. It was almost midnight and you texted him.
âYeah, you too? Sorry if I woke you up.â You bit your lip again feeling a bit guilty. You stared at your screen a little too intensely hoping you hadnât woken him up and made him a little upset. Your face instantly turned into a smile when he responded with a: No you didnât i was already awake c:. That made you feel a little bit better shooting back a âGood :D.â
The conversation felt like it had gone on for hours with you two talking back and forth about teachers, assignments, and even a little bit about yourselves. Everything seemed like it was falling into place and it felt great. It honestly felt like you got your best friend back again and all that was said just put a smile on your face, a big one. It was truly amazing.
Your eyes had widened when you finally checked the time to see it was a bit past two in the morning. You shot back a little âyo itâs like two and we need to sleep or we wonât be able to focus on monday.â You smiled while sending it to him. Yanan replied with, âI donât even study. Plus I won't sleep until I know youâre fully going to sleep. Nobody means goodnight when they say it unless theyâre in person.â You cracked a smile at that, âI guess youâre right with that one, but how are you even going to know if Iâm actually going to sleep, or just ignoring the messages?â You smirked at your âsmartâ remark. âI guess then Iâm just gonna have to trust you lol.â You smiled and shook your head against your pillow. âOkay , bet.â You smiled down at your phone and shut it off. You were actually willing to fall asleep for him. How did this get this far? This was down bad.
The rest of the weekend went by as just chats with Yanan all day long and it moved from platform to platform till he hit the DMs of your messages. It got that deep into it till a message popped up from Hongseok. You blinked at it and stared at it for a while âcause no way that was for real. You were in the middle of texting Yanan while leaning against your locker in the morning and his name popped up. You stopped in your tracks of typing, but you couldnât build up the mental courage to see what it was all about. You finished typing a âYou wanna go out with me for lunch today? Meet me at the front gate.â You sent it with a smile before turning to look at the message that was sent by Hongseok.
It was a simple âheyâ, nothing too important. Not to you anyways, you lied to yourself. A sort of hurt and anger washed over you, but you also couldnât blame him. You had a part in this too, or more like it was all you and none of him. You shot back the same message he sent you before moving towards your first period class. âI dont have any plans for lunch today, are you free.â Your lips twitched upwards then downwards. Why would he text this to you now, and where did this even come from?
âIâm sorry I already have plans todayâ. Delivered. That was it. You werenât going to give him any more attention than needed. Your phone buzzed again and you swear your body unlocked your phone on itâs own. âThen could I join you?â You closed out, no.
âGhost himâ, you told yourself but it didnât help that when your lunch period came around he came running to find you. Oh, and find you he did. You were catching up with yanan about the day so far, excluding the part that Hongseok texted you. Thatâs when he pointed out to you that someone was coming towards you two. You freaked out looking at Yanan and grabbed his shoulders to run with him to the nearest convenience store.
âWhat was that?âYanan looked at you a bit concerned. You were catching your breath, but Yanan was curious and pushed it.
âEx-â, You barely started and Yanan didnât let you finish your sentence.
âEx?! Why are you running from your ex? Was he bad?â Yanan got more concerned by the second.
âNo, no. Ex-best friend. Dang, let me finish.â You smiled and laughed a bit. Yanan began to laugh with you. You two grabbed snacks and some water talking and laughing about what just happened.
Hongseok watched you two from the doorway of the convenience store. His lips were turned down in a frown. Could he be replaced that easily by you? Who was this new guy anyway and where did you find him?
