But resources or tutorialsā¦. I hate to be That Person, but idk not really. I can tell you for the John/Mary piece I had a reference photo from a circus in the 40s, because I just liked their poses that much, and I had it open on my phone to one side while I drew to get it where I wanted. And if Iām looking for a certain Look, like I was trying to work out how I wanted to draw Martha Wayne a few days ago, and I wanted a really Old Hollywood kind of look, I looked up photos of people like Greta Garbo to kind of get in the right headspace, but honestlyā¦.? I donāt really have much of anything.
As far as Iām concerned most of what I do is high pitched humming at the computer until something Happens and it looks good. And a lot of that is just me consciously deciding what I like that is better than what I was doing, and trying to Do That Thing ā and the rest is just figuring out how to do that thing, which entails a lot of toodling around goingĀ āWell what the hell was I thinking there?ā So most of everything is stuff yāall will never see.
So I guess thatās sort of it. I donāt really have any tutorials I consult regularly, I just kind of brute force it until it looks okay. I mean, Iām also super self-conscious about this art, so Iām also super conscious of things about it that I donāt likeā¦ so maybe thatās a factor, too? I couldnāt tell you.
REGARDLESS, thank you for the message!!!! Goodness me. Iām very flattered. And if you have anything else youāre interested in, Iām SUPER GLAD to get anything. :) No promises itād be a good answer, but I can usually try SOMETHING.
EDIT: I will say that if I found a tutorial on how to use colour in a way that isnāt OCMPLETE GARBAGE, I would probably use it, because I have no idea how to even begin to do that. This blog is set to be like 90% monochrome because colour is like that neighbour across the street you always stare at with binoculars through the blinds because their lawn is always just SO GOOD and how do they even have the time, and how do they keep it SO GREEN even when theyāve got their dumb kidsā little plastic pool sitting on it all the time, and yours always looks like garbage even when you use the nice brand grass seed and fertilizer and you water it before dawn and things............. by which I meanĀ āI donāt know how other people manage to make it look so good, because I am not the best.ā
