Through fire and flames

As Prometheus lay in defeat, he proclaimed to me. "Polybius! How does one gain the fruit of Knowledge!? Why does god damn those whom attempt to find truth!?". Smoked filled the corridor, blood exchanged upon our swords. Hesitant, I gaze into his eyes with remorse, pity, and anguish. "One does not search my foolish brother. You do not beg to be given divinity for the sake of self. God gifts you. The power. The omnipotence you as a man shall never comprehend.". My eyes begain to fountain, as he reluctantly squabbles to get up. "Shut up! You know nothing of what I've done! The empire I seized! The establishments, academies, cities, I have the power of a god!". Like a lioness to her prey, he lunges himself towards me. Seconds to react, I retain composure. "I forgive you, for you know not what you do.". A hot sting pierces my abdomen, the fire in his eyes turn to nothing. He begins to cry, his lips tremble. "If only we could relive the days of our youth, maybe things could have gone different?". He whispers as we fall to the ground. "I should have followed, now I have nothing to search for.". Light begans to fade, my skin grows cold. "In the next life, I will guide you. We shall try again then.".
