Coming Out to Strangers

At least once a day, I walk to my Aunt's to visit. Right before I left for the last time today, my little cousin gave me some flowers to give to my mom once I had returned home.

I had started walking past my old elementary school, and I caught these two boys, probably second or third graders, whispering and pointing towards me. Out of curiosity, a playfully towards them and smile.

I ask what they were whispering about. They had noticed the flowers in my hand, and explained that I looked like I was going on a date (I was also wearing my favorite striped dress shirt).

So I told the boys that I was giving them to my Mom. They giggled and responded, "Haha! Well, you had a good chance though--if you were going on a date." I laugh and conclude, " fair enough. Hopefully I'll find a cute boy someday."

The look on their face as I walked away was a mix of suprise and confusion--it was priceless.
