He dropped his hands to his hips, debating whether they should get right to it or not. Really, what was the rush? It was a gorgeous day, and Noa wasn’t hating the idea of spending the entirety of it in the water. “Well, what do you think? Ready to tackle the waves or you wanna give it a minute?”

“To be honest, I would like to give it a minute if that’s okay?” Draegan replied glad he offered that as an option. He’s hoping maybe by the time they start his nerves would be at least a little more calm than they are at the moment.

He didn’t think the weather could be anymore perfect. The sun was out, but it wasn’t too hot outside. Definitely beach weather, he thought. And that was why he had sent a text to Draegan to see if he wouldn’t mind meeting him for his first lesson. Not only was it an excuse to go to the beach, it fulfilled the promise he had made – even if he was late in making good on his word. Noa had gotten a spot all set up for them, complete with towels, umbrella, and a cooler full of snacks and drinks. All the makings for a good day at the beach. He had just gotten the umbrella in place when he saw the other approach. “Hey, I almost thought you were standin’ me up,” Noa joked, tossing the other a small smile.

“Nah,” Draegan chuckled,” I was just looking for my swim trunks.” He motioned down to the black short he was wearing. In all actuality he had spent twenty minutes trying to calm down. For some reason he was a lot more nervous than he should have been. He knows Noa isn’t going to let him drown, but he seemed to be able to look calm on the outside at least. “So where do we start?”

“Its normal that you can’t follow! Time isn’t the pied piper, he doesn’t have a flute to lead - he doesn’t even exist most of the time,” Waldo reasoned. These kinds of thoughts made more sense when he was high but he was, sadly, sober.

“Oj okay.” Draegan replied, his face still shouting confusion, but he chuckled. “How could something exist and then not though?”

If you asked me a month ago, I would have told you that I’m so ready to blow this pop-stand. Now that the end of the semester is here… I’m a little nervous. I’m not really sure what to do from here.

“I’m sure you’ll figure it out sis, you’re honestly one of the smartest people I know. Trust me you got this,” Draegan smiled, “Just don’t forget to visit occasionally.”

“Yeah, but it didn’t have to be after,” Waldo grinned. “Time isn’t real, you know. At my dad’s house, time is frozen and its tea time all the time, so what does that tell you about how nonsensical it all is?”

“I don’t believe I follow exactly, but I kind of get that time is just a made up thing,” Draegan answered. “Now for it being frozen I have no idea.”

“Then you have been playing for a long time. That’s good. I can only imagine your shock when you came here and found a tuned piano. I hope it was everything you’d dreamed of.”

“It honestly was that and more,” Draegan beamed. “I’m hoping to pick up a couple more instruments at some point. Like the violin or something, usually anything that needed strings to play were broke to the point of no return on the Isle.”

“No need, I would have made you cry just as easily if it was the truth,” She said, brushing off her momentary kindness. “So how’d you get into the piano stuff? As a kid or is it a new hobby?”

“Well when Mal and I were little I found this key board over on the Isle. It was terribly out of tune, but I wanted it. So we got it and I would practice on it until I was told to stop basically,” Draegan replied.

“Oh yeah? You’re lucky, they made us take like classes before we were allowed to go to cotillion in high school, and Fairy Godmother’s so scary about getting it right that I’ve never forgotten it, to this day,” Bowie grinned sheepishly. “I’m pretty sure if she caught me doing it wrong she’d like, cut me off from Cheetos for life.”

“Dude that sounds awful,” Draegan replied. “I bet those classes were about as fun as they sounded.”

“Well, sure, but someone had to invent albums, didn’t they? Why couldn’t it have been them? Everything’s possible unless it’s impossible and even then sometimes!” Waldo reasoned.

“I mean yeah, they were made in 1951,” Draegan replied. “Several years after both of them died.”

“Its a miracle that the keyboard worked. Resources on the Isle were scant, but I am glad they were sufficient for you to find your talent. Depriving people of the chance to find and harvest their passions is too heavy a shame. How old were you when you found the keyboard?”

“To be honest I was kind of amazed it worked,” Draegan chuckled,” and I was about 6 or 7 when we found it”

Betsy nodded her head instantly, her carefully curled hair bouncing up and down with the motion. “Sure, sugar! It wouldn’t even have to be Chad who was doing the asking, I’d get up and dance with most anybody to a song like that.”

“Wow, um, thank you. To be honest that means a lot,” Draegan beamed.

To be honest I would rather move on first, but it usually happens the other way around. I can get too attached at times

“Nah, don’t worry, those I’m more into sliding across things, they get going really fast,” Bowie said, grinning. “And I don’t really sit at the same lunch table as Fairy Godmother so she’s not in any danger there, just whoever’s sitting at the end of the table.” Bowie shrugged innocently. “I found a cool video I wanted to show one of the other baseball guys! It was the fastest way to get it to them.”

“True, I didn’t think of that,” Jay chuckled. “And so wait, so let me get this straight you just picked up an entire lunch table. And threw it so your friends could check out a video?”

“Woah, that sounds kind of like a car,” Bowie admitted. He didn’t have a ton of music knowledge, especially not the real classical stuff, but he liked to try and understand stuff other people were interested in. “Like waltzing and stuff? I can do it as long as I don’t have to do like, the box on top of the box. One box is enough, the spinning’s just extra!”

“It kind of does,” Draegan chuckled. “And yeah basically, to be completely though I don’t know much about dancing. So I don’t really get the whole box thing.” The only dance he knew how to to was like the Cha Cha Slide or the Hokey Pokey.

Waldo grinned at the names. Bach, Beethoven. They sounded fake to him, but he wasn’t gonna call the other dude out on it. “Sure, sure. I don’t know those guys, which of their albums slaps the hardest?”

Draegan couldn’t tell if he was joking or not,” Well to be honest, seeing that they probably did not have any record labels in the 18th century, so they don’t really have albums.”
