I really think that the Victoria being a bastard child* thing is top-notch, but I feel it could have been explored more/better. Ward only focuses on it in relation to her relationship with her father, but to be honest I do feel like on some level she probably did conceptualise herself as the one who belonged there in comparison with Amy, especially after the wretching.
Anyway, I feel like finding out that that any part of "Victoria Dallon" was a lie would really shake her, because I do think that it was part of her identity, especially since it isn't that long after the (also wasted in my opinon) incident where her lack of control over her power (and due to keeping secrets about said power) leads to serious mental and physical damage to a family member (sound familiar?).
*I know that it's never outright confirmed.
