they really struck diamonds with the concept of daemons in his dark materials. imagine if your soul was a little shapeshifting creature you can hang out with and talk to? AND it's also a symbolic representation of your true nature? say no more. i will spend the rest of my life thinking about this.

how do yall's daemons choose/find their forms? im genuinly curious, because Apophis's form has always been a white snake. Like, the second i read HDM for the first time i thought, "oh, my daemon would be a white snake." when i started practicing daemonism, she was just,, a snake. She sometimes plays with other forms, like she often takes a luna moth form when i'm biking, but she's always been a white snake. (specifically hognose usually, but sometimes a ball python)

how did yalls forms come to be?

For us it is a mix of choice and instinct. When we first started out we chose the species of past and current pets. But when we started dipping our toes into formfinding we naturally took the shape of a vague fox (leaning towards an arctic fox), and Ayeoh began picking his own forms (mountain lion).

When we read about grey foxes something clicked and he took that form and stuck that way. It's either instinctual, or my dae knows more then I do, because he settled as a grey pretty instantly. We still take a few other forms by choice because they are convenient or have personal meaning, but he is nearly always a grey fox.

after nourishment, shelter and companionship, stories are the thing we need most in the world.

Some recent daemian thoughts;

I’ve really not been connected to Søren at all in the last few months. He’s there, and if I reach out I feel him, but I’m having more of a block with feeling him out/projecting him. We’ve always been closer around sleep, and I can easily sense him when I fall asleep and he appears in most of my dreams. I think my biggest block right now is that *Im* unsettled with his wolf form so maybe I need to do some more reevaluating. Corvids, especially magpies, are a form he tends to try often, but I just don’t think the bird form is right for me. I’m thinking going down more of the domestic canine route and seeing what that yields for us. On the positive side, we just got back from a trip to Europe and Italy in particular brings me a lot of inspiration when it comes to daemonism and it’s opened up the world to me again. I got some fun photos of art that had daemon vibes so I’m excited to share that here.
