I explained the concept of "blorbo from my shows" to my 71 year old immigrant grandfather because I referenced it in passing and I thought nothing of it, until today when he said "I think I'll watch peaky blinders tonight and see my blorbo from my shows" referring, of course, to Cillian Murphy playing Tommy Shelby

English isn't his first language so he's not super in touch with modern slang, so I've been accidentally teaching him to talk like a tumblr user. His favorite thing to say lately is "me when I'm a little hater" when he's like talking shit about the neighbor's son

I explained the “x before gta6” meme to my immigrant father and he, in turn, explained to me how back in his day in Romania, they had the same type of joke, except instead of it being gta6, it was about the imminent death of a singer named Gică Petrescu, who everyone was continuously shocked by because he refused to die. Every time a momentous event happened people would say, in essence: “This happened and Gică Petrescu hasn’t even died yet?!?”

So. He understood the gta6 meme immediately because they apparently had the same thing in Romania when he was young, except way, way more morbid

This is very funny to me as a Romanian, because this expression is very much old fashioned, considering Gică Petrescu died in 2006 (it makes sense that the immigrant parent of a Tumblr user would be old enough to still use it.)

Interestingly, the phrase didn't stop being used with Petrescu's death, and instead people of both younger and older generations just replaced him with our former president Ion Iliescu, born in 1930, saying "And Iliescu still hasn't died??"

Last year, he too passed at the age of 95, so the saying may be replaced again, but I find it interesting to think there are Romanians out there in the world that haven't received the "update" of this phrase.

BOOK COVER REDRAW of one of the most insane and gutwretching books ever written. (Art without text and full process on my insta!)

It was my first time designing a book cover and I have to say the process was painful. I started with a strong idea in mind: I wanted to portray Harrow at the exact moment she got her memories back. It had to be spectacular, dramatic, atrocious. There had to be skeletons, lots of skeletons, the castle of her House, and of course, Gideon's sword. Then came the hard part, colors. I changed the colors I think 4 times, just couldn't get them right, but in the end can say I'm quite happy with the result. During the whole process I kept looking at the original cover from @studiotommy.co (insta) trying to grasp even a small fragment of his tenique (ps. Posting this 2 days before a big tit announcement wasn't in my plans👀)

I hope I've done this book justice, because at the end, that's what it's all about.
