⋆ the main purpose of this blog is to be a place for me to dump about things i love, books i've read, art i've made, and stories i've written; an extension of my brain, which has gotten so full that it's starting to leak out my ears. i'm not expecting a big audience, but i welcome anyone who decides to follow along :D
⋆ a little about me: my name is dahl. i'm an intp. my favorite color is plum purple. i hate pickles. i draw, write, sew, and other stuff. that photo above is a selfie of me.
⋆ the following are some of the main topics i'll most likely write about in this blog, organized by topic:
books: i recently read the raven cycle by maggie stiefvater, which i fell in love with and am most looking forward to talking about. i also enjoyed leigh bardugo's grishaverse series and, unfortunately, the harry potter series/the marauders (which is a sub-fandom that has produced fan fiction arguably better than the actual series, probably because it wasn't written by jk r*wling). other than those series, i'm not a very big fantasy fan, but i'm open to recommendations.
my all-time favorite books are; the secret history by donna tartt, the catcher in the rye by j.d. salinger, jane eyre by charlotte bronte, notes from underground by fyodor dostoyevsky, and, the most recent addition to the list of favorites, a head full of ghosts by paul tremblay.
i'm trying to get better at writing actual book reviews because if you look at my goodreads reviews right now, you'll see nothing but keyboard smashes (that means i really liked it and/or it made me cry). so, that's something i want to focus on with this blog.
music: music is super important to my creative process. i think there's always a song playing in my head. right now, it's san francisco by foxygen. i listen to all sorts of music! post-hardcore, indie, hip hop, pop, country, you name it! some of my favorite bands are arctic monkeys, fall out boy, death cab for cutie, brand new, and the strokes. other artists i love are hozier, david bowie, cat power, kimya dawson, and elliot smith.
other: i write my own stories and draw my own pictures too (boring)! i'm really excited to talk about and post my original work here, as it's one of the main reasons i started this blog. maybe i'll write a fanfic here and there, too.
⋆ thank you for reading this intro and i hope you'll enjoy whatever junk i upload!

english teacher : so what do we think is this character’s fatal fla
me, head snapping up like a sleeper agent hearing their trigger phrase : does such thing as “the fatal flaw”, that showy dark crack running down the middle of a life, exist outside of literature? i used to think it didn’t. now i think it does. and i think that mine is this: a morbid longing for the picturesque at all costs
what's the last book you read, the book you’re currently reading (if you're reading one), and what you’d like to read next
i'll start; last book i read was the martian by andy weir and it was So Good. currently reading mother night by my GOAT kurt vonnegut, which i've been wanting to read since forever. not entirely sure what i'll read next, but i'm thinking where are your boys tonight by chris payne
here i present some godawful ronan lynch fanart from three hundred years ago (2 months ago). very reluctant to post this because i can do better (i promise) but it’s the only finished art i’ve done in forever
music recommendation helloo ₊˚⊹ ࿔ you think it's like this but really it's like this - mirah
i first came across mirah very unceremoniously, when her song 'person person' played as a spotify recommended track after a kimya dawson album.
mirah's music is the embodiment of the word 'reminiscent'. the best way i can describe it is the type of music that you'd listen to when you miss a loved one that has gone away on a great expedition. or something.
you'll probably like mirah if you like: adrianne lenker, mount eerie, kimya dawson
wish everyone could perceive the Vague Concepts in my head because i just know you would looove my Vague Concepts. you would think im so smart if you saw the misty clouds of Vague Concepts floating around in my head. #MyVagueConcepts
hey so was anybody gonna tell me that the raven boys is one of the best contemporary fantasy novels of the twenty-first century and an insane study on the cycles of abuse and the mindset of rich teenage boys and class divides or was i just gonna have to figure this out on my own
i forgot there’s an anime guy named fyodor dostoevsky so for a moment i thought there were people who were yumeshipping with a 19th century russian author
