Well to answer this, heres a fun fact! Male flamboyant cuttlefish gather for mating season and will fight other males to get females, while the smaller more feminine ones will sneak past the ones fighting and will mate with the females first!

a lot of cuttlefish do something like this. different male morphs where one's mating strategy is essentially sesbian lex are common across social animals; the most well-known of these is the common side-blotched lizard, which i'll not be discussing here today. (they have three male morphs, it's sort of an omegaverse situation)

the thing that makes cuttlefish special is they can intentionally change their gender presentation. this doesn't actually matter for most of their lives. once a year the cuttlefish get together to mate, and die not long after. their gender presentation is only relevant at all for a day or two or so depending on the species

normally i'd cite my sources properly but i'm in a hurry so this is what you get. some stuff (like links) copied and pasted from a similar rant i did in 2022

my [close relation] and i argued a lot over whether trans cuttlefish qualia have anything in common with trans human qualia. i lost; i argued that human transness was selected for in a similar way and thus must cause similar qualia. but my [close relation] pointed out all the good reasons to believe these cuttlefish are too stupid to contextualise gender. and furthermore noted that t4c gay couples and transhet couples who have kids are such a specific and unlikely subset of trans people that it's hard to believe they'd drive the evolution of trans people (kin selection per 'gay uncle' hypothesis notwithstanding)

my [close relation] went on to propose that human transness comes from there being a brain mechanism that causes you to identify with your agab (helpful to have since it leads to more sex and romance). and it misfires on trans people in whatever way. i thought this was a pretty good idea. i couldn't test it though so imagine a grain of salt. the op-pusǐt gender

Hey I'm back I went to Pride today I've been very distracted and off Tumblr lately but I'm back and I'm hoping to start posting every day again

Everyone seemed pretty stoked on the perler bead art, so here are my creations so far

I have 2.6mm beads because I like them little

The best part is, I DO LMAO. I was using it to mock up designs! Here’s the pattern for that rainbow pride shrimp on the bottom!

They all follow this pattern, with arrows pointing towards the front of the shrimp. They notch together fairly easily! For some notes:

- They fit together easier warm!

- The antenna is a single string of jeweler’s elastic, but any sort of thing will do here. They can be just tugged into the gap behind the eyes once assembled, or held in place while assembling. Your choice!

- The legs are just very small gauge wire forced through what’s left of the perler holes. Always easier to trim them once you’ve got them through!

- Each one has a big, fat bead of hot glue in the underbelly like some kinda cursed hotdog, half to mimic shrimp belly, half to hold everything together! This part is last, and keeps the legs and feelers in place!

I found giant perlers once and I desire to make A Big Shrimp. I also made Gävlebocken (which I should mock up their pattern).
