Emilie Simon week, day 5 (very very late)

Two years ago she released her fifth album, Franky's night. A very moving and grandiose album. As usual Emilie simon made an album that has its own soul and doesn't listen like the former ones, it has less electronic sounds, her voice is soothing.

She has both songs in English and in French to tell her grief. A brilliant album with very constructed songs, and in particular a heartbreaking "jetaimejetaimejetaime" that closes it. Emilie Simon seems to have found her own voice, that is nor as kate bushy as in her previous album nor as whispering as in her first albums.

Becasue I cannot present all the 10 songs of this album, I chose one: Bel Amour.

Emilie Simon Week, day 4

The big machine is the fourth album of Emilie simon, it was realeased in 2009. First album where all the songs are in English, it is a metamorphosis, a sound explosion, a firework. It's a brilliant pop music tribute, it sounds like a cover of penny lane by Kate Bush.

The first listen is like tasting for the first time an acid drop candy, at the beginning it's a little bit puzzling since we were used to a shy singer when here her voice is a burst but quickly you realised how the songs are glittery, warm and addictive and finally you can't help listen to it over and over again you are transported in some kind of a colourful planet you could not locate on a map.

My favorite song of this album: Ballad of the big machine.

Emile Simon, day 3

Through her third album Vegetal, she shows that she is an outstanding artist with her own universe. In this album she sings more and whispers less, but still it's an enchanting album full of poetry with lyrics related to flowers and the vegetal world. Definitely she has blossomed, and she became a wonderfoul and delicate flower.

Emilie Simon week, day #2

In 2005 was released the marvellous documentary movie "la marche de l'empereur" ("March of the penguins" in English) directed by Luc Jacquet about the incredible annual journey of the emperor penguins to breed.

Emilie Simon composed the original soundtrack for this movie and it happens to be the best OST ever, it was a torture to select only one song to publish here. For unknown reasons, this OST was not kept for the version that was released in the US, that's from my point of view an unforgivable crime against humanity :). So for those who watched the movie without the appropriate OST, get a catch up session with this excerpt of the album: "To the dancers on the ice"
