The Blue Blanket

So it may just be an ordinary, non-too-special, thin blanket handed out by medics by the thousand. But in Keenler land, it’s special. It’s very special. From a lonely wooded path, to the back of an ambulance, to an empty swimming pool, the lowly blue blanket will forever be a symbol of Keenler comfort. So on Keenler Week free choice day, I present for you, the inconspicuous, nondescript little blue blanket that makes Keenler hearts sing.

i would never be able to choose just one thing to gif and i don’t have time to do a lot, so you all get this.  a tease of a keenler fic i’ve been working on where they are undercover newlyweds. so expect awkwardness and bed sharing and falling in love.  no idea when it will be finished because i’m garbage and can’t write in a timely fashion. so here you go.

Keenler Week - Day 6: Favorite ‘Yes Ress, we know you love Liz’ moment

The Decembrist. 

I love the frustration in his voice when he tells Liz, “And the difference is you’re not in love with Reddington.” In love with a woman who’s in love with someone else. Something Ressler wasn’t ready to admit to himself, and definitely not to Liz, so I can understand why Tom’s blurt upset him.  

This is when Ressler started bending some serious rules for Liz. He knew she’d been holding Tom prisoner on the ship. Berlin’s right hand, Tom needed to be brought in, yet Ressler allowed him to walk. He then lied to his superior, Reven Wright, about the informant who led them to Fitch’s location. When Liz was being questioned about the Harbormaster’s disappearance, he talked her out of turning herself in to the detective. When she was about to take the fall for the Harbormaster’s murder, he assisted in the kidnapping of Mr. Krishnan, the Malaysian Deputy Minister to the U.N. Then took a trip with Red to meddle in Tom’s business deal with Elias.

This isn’t a want to bend the rules, but a willingness to. For love.

Keenler Week - Day 6 - Favorite ‘Yes Ress, we know you love Liz’ moment

“When you love someone you have no control. That’s what love is – being powerless.”

There are a lot of times Ress has demonstrated that he has feelings for Liz. But this moment here speaks louder than words ever could. His job was to stop her. and I think even he believed he would when he headed off with his flashlight after the power was cut. He knew what he had to do. Keen was escaping with Reddington’s help, and it was his job to prevent that from happening. For him, it’s always about the job, and yet, he couldn’t do it. At that moment in time, standing close to her, his heart was making decisions. He loves her, and he stepped aside and let her go - and spent the next few weeks denying it to everyone. He knew what he’d done, and his love for her had set a roller coaster in motion that he was powerless to stop.

five words.  i can’t let her go.  sure, it could be taken to mean that he can’t let fugitive liz go, but at this point, after two years of working with her, of helping her, of being with her during her times of need, of caring about her, it’s got to mean more than him just doing his job.  those words hold meaning and this is an extremely powerful scene.

Keenler Appreciation Week Day 5

►Favorite Case→ The Kingmaker (No.42)

Ok, so, first, I’ve watched this episode an embarrassing amount of times. The case itself, because I do have a minor affinity for political thrillers, and the premise of The Kingmaker always fascinates me. But enough of that! This is the episode that Ressler:

Demonstrated his keen Liz Keen-sense  

Actually put the case aside for 5 minutes to demand that Liz talk to him about her personal life because you know for science. he’s not personally interested, not at all, nuh-uh, not even a little and his voice didn’t go all soft on that bridge, either, nope sure didn’t 

Gives Liz shelter and a safe haven when her entire world has literally fallen down around her.  

Basically just shows his support in a bunch of little ways culminating in probably an all-nighter drinking beer and listening to Liz’s unbelievable sob story, and I am here for it.

Keenler Week - Day 5: Favorite Case

Lady Ambrosia is one of my top-favorite episodes. Keenler is half the reason. At first glance, I see how it gives this comparison of things in current day, but in looking at it more… I actually believe it’s giving a glimpse into the future. 

From scene cuts, to the dialogue, to the soundtrack. It’s Keenler, both gorgeous and sad. Ressler in the end scene. The pain in his face, in the way he walks away. It’s episodes like this that give me hope. Because I can feel it… and imagine it. The Djinn fantasy of Ressler walking out with those children. Beautiful heartbreaking stuff.

Keenler Week Day 5 - Favorite Case I was so happy to see them working together again. All their scenes were incredibly beautiful. And of course Liz’s “I know you’re worried about me, and i appreciate it.” - oh..my Keenler heart  ❤️
