If you’d asked me yesterday how I would feel about going to an intimate Christmas gig in Tom Hobden’s flat, I would probably have said it was basically all I ever wanted, but now that it’s actually dangled there in front of us we’re all realising how creepy it would be if we actually did it…

I don’t think it’s incestuous. There’s real camaraderie. We’re all friends who were doing similar things and playing on each other’s records. It’s nice. I think Charlie’s album is phenomenal. I don’t take it personally. I don’t sit at home thinking, ‘This is weird, it’s all about me.’ Actually, I think it’s about him. I’m a songwriter, and I understand artistic licence. We can embellish, go on little journeys and explore our inner selves. It can be quite self-indulgent. Charlie’s in his album, and I’m in my album. No barriers have been broken. It’s absolutely OK.
