Taking the concrete rubbing, I have traced over this, abstracting further from the concrete, further from the reality of concrete.

Creating a rubbing from a concrete pillar. The recording presents mixture between a direct representation of the concrete, a ‘concrete’ representation but also appears abstract. Balancing between the concrete and the abstract. There us a natural appearance to the rubbing, felt by the textural qualities of the graphite.

The word concrete does not refer to a single material but actually can be any number of components. Components combining together, in example, rocks or gravel, with some kind of liquid ‘adhesive’ material.

Biomorphism; the rejection of rigid structures and geometric abstraction, favouring the organic shapes of nature, the free- flowing.

Taking the rigid nature of concrete, the structuring associated, morphing, changing, through hands and different processes.

Forms in the centre made from templates of the forms painted below and above centre.

set ups, testing mixes onto different surfaces. Hopefully the concrete will peel from the hessian, leaving an imprint of some kind!

With the in-balance of water, concrete is brittle. There takes a careful measuring process between concrete mix, aggregates and water.

The last of the three though not being concrete, just really enjoyed the colours seen as the metal has rusted. Orange of the rust compared to that green in the mould growing.

There are these pattern emerging; the space where the water dampens the concrete (is this damp? Is this something else?) creating these organic shapes and outlines on the surface of what is initially, the concrete.

Squint and the shapes come clearer.

On the exposed wall at Tate Modern, a place where purposely the concrete has been left exposed as a kind of, industrial aesthetic. The textures and natural like shapes created from the textures are really lovely, strange in comparison to such a man made substance they are living within.

A garden is a kept area of ground, designed and maintained. Sometimes it fits an aesthetic, one to be pleasing to us individually or to show to others. An area of nature that has been pre- determined by us. To be kept under control, to be specific to our desires at that particular point.
