📍Cha Kee 茶記 My fav HK cafe in GTA❤️It was Saturday around 2pm and there was lineup when we got there. The staffs were friendly and the place looked clean. Great for small group of people since it’s the space was bit small overall. Their HK milk tea was great! The only thing I wanna complain about is they only open until 6pm😭😭 1️⃣咖喱牛腩出前一丁Curry brisket with instant noodles :🌕🌕🌕🌕🌗 I saw someone by the window eating this while we were waiting to be seated. It looked appetizing so I asked the waiter about it and ended up getting the same. And it’s AMAZING - the brisket was tender and flavoured, and the noodle was soaked in the rich sauce 2️⃣焗豬扒飯Signature baked pork chop rice: 🌕🌕🌕🌑🌑 The baked pork is okayish compared to the brisket. It’s not bad with all the red sauce also the rice was not plain but with fried egg 3️⃣黑松露滑蛋多士Truffle with smooth scrabble eggs on toast: 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌑 This was on the daily special menu and we didn’t realized it also comes with a drink so we ended w 3 drinks LOL anyway the eggs are sooo soft and great with truffle. 📍Yan’s Kitchen 近水江南 My new fav home food restaurant in GTA!!! It’s so elegant in every way: the name, the interior design, even the bowls and plates. 1️⃣ Pan fried crabs with rice cake 蟹炒年糕: 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌗 IMO this is the must-try dish here, fresh crabs in rich flavour, very authentic and well represents the cuisine 2️⃣ Soochow style duck marinated in picked sauce 苏式糟鸭: 🌕🌕🌕🌗🌑 I don’t really have any opinion on authenticity of this one since I’ve never had this before in 🇨🇳. 📍Ichiran Ramen One of our requested places during this NYC trip and took by the local @hachiozhang 😆 Lined up for around 15 mins and got four consecutive seats. As some of you may know, customers here are seated individually and separated by wooden boards to minimize the human contact including with the servers. 1️⃣Tonkotsu Ramen: 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌗 It’s my first visit at Ichiran so I got the recommended set with 1/2 red sauce and don’t need to worry about preferences of anything. Otherwise you could choose how you want everything to be done, such as how soft you want the noodle and how rich you want the broth etc. And this tasted AMAZING!! The broth was really flavoured and also not too salty make you drink tons of water later. The 1/2 red sauce was just right for me: a bit spicy but only tasty spicy which made it even more flavoured instead of deadly spicy. The ramen itself was a bit chewy and soaked with 😋 broth. It’s so tasty that for a small person like me I even asked for KAE-DAMA (NOODLE REFILL). Although the refilled noodle tasted a bit firmer than those came with the broth. 2️⃣Matcha pudding: 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌑 For those who loves matcha, this is your go-to dessert. You could still taste a little bit bitterness of the matcha while enjoying the sweetness of the pudding. 📍Eggstatic This is the third restaurant in this neighbourhood I’ve visited/reviewed. (The other two were @fukuisushi and @sophies_to ) And I have to say all of the three are FANTASTIC! Both of us ordered eggs benedict (me got smoked salmon and he got fried chicken) and they were absolutely amazing. I loved how they warmed up the English muffin which made it a little bit crispy. 📍Pearl Diver One of my bestie and I go-to brunch places in town, Pearl Diver has a great brunch menu together with decent seafood choices. 📍Sophie’s It’s Saturday morning!! Who’s craving for some weekend brunches?? This gorgeous brunch place located at midtown has some great dishes you must try!!! 1️⃣Blueberry Pancakes: 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌕 If I can I wanna give it five and half points... this is absolutely beyond of tasty. 📍Kome Shokudo Home kitchen style Japanese food. Just as the board outside says “Japanese Comfort Food”. The service there was really great and I have to say high CP value👍 1️⃣Gyudon with hot spring egg: 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌗 Can never go wrong with gyudon, especially with extra hot spring egg. Very flavoured and satisfying, just a bit salty for me. 📍Fukui Sushi Never really explored anything in midtown. Didn’t expect such goodies here. The restaurant doesn’t have many tables and is actually a bit crowded and noisy during dinner time. The waiter/manager with us was really nice and patient. He carefully introduced us with his recommendation dishes and even send some fresh fish soup on the house. 1️⃣Fish soup $10.95 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌑 Really flavourful and umami with the cabbages and seaweed. The tofu soaked with the soup tasted really good too. 2️⃣Spicy salmon flash $10.95 🌕🌕🌕🌗🌑 3️⃣Omakase 12pcs $50 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌗 Really fresh seasonal sashimi, a wide selection from 🐟 to 🦐 to 🐚 personally I think this is a very economic choice of omakase 4️⃣Sashimi dinner platter $19 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌑 Regular selection sashimi including salmon and tuna 5️⃣Sashimi a la carte 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌗 We also ordered sweet shrimp and sea urchin on the side. Day 2 in Taipei - Noodle Soup Day!! We tried two different kinds of beef noodle soups that are both really popular in Taipei. One is called 永康 Yongkang and the other other is 林東芳 Lindongfang. They were actually very distinct from each other but both 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌕 good: 永康 was more spiced and the beef was in chunk while 林東芳’s soup was more unami and the beef was in thick slices. The braised pork rice in 金峰滷肉飯 was so far the best one I’ve ever tried. Not so oily but really flavoured. We also tried 麻油雞麵線 chicken noodles with sesame oil in 永康錄 and also the most famous one called 阿宗麵線. I liked the former one better as the soup was rich in flavour and the chicken was tender. Last but not least, the 蜜芋麻糬燒 mochi with taro snow ice from 來呷甜甜品 was totally awesome!! It’s like an enjoyment when you try to have the warm mochi with snow ice at the same time. First meal in Taipei!!! Came to this famous Taiwanese restaurant near our hotel. 1️⃣白斬雞Steamed chicken was awesome, meat was really tender with transparent jelly and flavoured when you dip it into soy sauce with fresh red chilli. 2️⃣We got disappointed with 鹽酥小捲Fried Squid, it’s a bit over cooked and too chewy 3️⃣My first time ever try this vege called 水蓮 , very juicy and herbal 4️⃣紅燒豆腐 Fried tofu was a bit sour? 📍Aburi Room Great indoor design, very bright and pretty. Waiters were friendly and food looked really insta-worthy. Personally I think it’s a perfect place for either a date or a girls’ night out😉 1️⃣Aburi Premium $32: 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌗 This one, as well as the Aburi plate, is one of the three dinner tasting menus(each for 1 serving). 🐟 🦐 were really fresh and I liked the crab handroll. Imo this one is more value worthy than the Aburi plate. 2️⃣The Aburi Plate $52: 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌑 If you like oshi sushi, you should try this tasting menu as it has more oshi sushi than others. 3️⃣Ebi Oshi $12:🌕🌕🌕🌕🌑 We asked the waiter for recommendations on any of the oshi sushi platters, and she recommended this. Amazing taste, warm, flavoured, also not too oily. 4️⃣Chirashi Tart $15: 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌗 One of the most impressive dishes we tried here. The restaurant was cozy, waiters were so friendly, and they even heated the outside door handle on a snowy winter day. 1️⃣House-made spaghetti with oxtail ragu: 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌑 The chewy spaghetti, together with the rich flavoured oxtail, took a bit time to enjoy this delicious dish. 2️⃣Broken pasta bean soup: 🌕🌕🌑🌑🌑 Maybe it's personal, but this soup kinda reminds me of my unpleasant college cafeteria😳 3️⃣Slow braised beef:🌕🌕🌕🌗🌑 Well cooked beef, that I could feel it's "melting" once you put it in the mouth. But my friends felt it got plain when he tried to finish the whole plate. 4️⃣Double Stacked Orata Filet: 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌗 The filet was perfectly cooked, with crispy skin and soft inside. Meanwhile that sour-tasted beans made the fish even more interesting when you eat them together. 5️⃣Mistura tiramisu: 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌑 I liked the crunchy topping with the smooth cream.
