I think arts funding should be infinite and easily available to everyone. I think 13 year olds who only draw anime should receive funding to buy giant sets of copic markers and shitty local punk bands should receive funding for instruments and practice spaces and performance artists should receive funding for their weird and nonsensical projects

Funnily enough, this used to be my job. I used to be part of a team, that allocated millions pounds of government funding to youth led creative initiatives and projects. We funded everything from a new guitar amp, to skates, to a whole recording studio. But the fund stopped and they closed the Youth Access and Participation department I worked for. My town hasn’t been the same since. But creative endeavours does not an obedient worker make, so they were the first to go under our current government. Bring back proper arts funding 💖
