@damn-winston
mrsjanewinston:
“You know, you’re going to have to come out of there, eventually.” Jane said to her husband, who was currently holed up in their bathroom. Downstairs, their son’s first birthday was a go. Everyone appeared to be getting it off well, their families having meshed well due to the fact that they loved them. And more importantly, Franco. How could you not love that adorable baby boy in a Curious George costume? “Now I know you’re probably no Franco in your costume…” Jane teased, as that’d been the reason behind his refusal to come out to the party. Jane had gotten both Damon and Franco the same costume, but how could she not? “but I know it doesn’t look that bad. You are Damon Winston, after all. That name is synonymous with the word ‘sexy’.” ( @damn-winston )
“I am changing out of it right now, that’s why I haven’t come out. I refuse. I should have been the man in the yellow suit.” He called out from their bathroom, entirely too amused. Years ago, Damon would have found this whole thing very annoying, but now he was mostly just having a fun day, enjoying his son’s very first birthday. It couldn’t get better than this. He walked out of the bathroom with only the bottom half suit on, his arms folded across his chest as if he were annoyed. “There’s no way in hell I’m walking down there wearing this. Two-Bit’s gonna enjoy it too much, Jane. I can’t let him have that.”

“Shut the fuck up for a second I’m tryin’ to say I wasn’t wrong for doin’ what I did because you were fuckin’ up for a long time, but I didn’t realize how much of a bitch all of this shit actually is.” Being humble already wasn’t Ace’s forte, hell he still wasn’t convinced that humble didn’t equal weakness, but he was trying to push past that, keeping his eye on the bigger picture instead of focusing on his pride. “I also wanted to know that if one day I needed to put your special set of skills to work, if helpin’ out would be somethin’ you’d be willin’ to do. Not for me, for the hood. I ain’t sayin’ I need you either, you’d be an assest, like an Ace up my sleeve. I ain’t tryin’ to pull you in to nothin’ or think that I need anything you got. I want it, but if I need to make somethin’ happen to save this place and the people in it I’ll figure out a way to make it happen. With or without your help.”
“Yeah? At least when I was in town no one was losing their houses, but whatever you wanna tell yourself, brother.” Damon didn’t care what he had to say, honestly, Ace had crossed a lot of lines and Damon had looked to the other side to ensure the safety and peace of not only his family, but the rest of the South side. Last thing they needed was Ace and Damon at each other’s throats all over again. “Im’ma be honest with you, man. I don’t trust you and respect? You lost that shit when you went behind my back and befriended a richie that doesn’t give a fuck about us to get at the top of the gang and then went to my fucking house and what? Threatened my wife and my kid. I will never forgive or forget that shit. If I ever accept working with you, I ain’t doing no one’s dirty work and I’m not walking into it blindly, no offense.” Damon shrugged. “Do you have any plan already?”
mrsjanewinston:
Jane very much wanted to say that it did have something to do with her, she was the person who’d been viewed as a weakness or hinderance to Damon Winston. And the more she’d sat with that, the more she’d found herself angry at that. It was for that reason why she’d asked her husband to teach her some self defense because she was not going to be Damon’s weakness. No. But that was her own battle with Ace, tonight’s topic was that on her husband’s and she was going to there for him in that moment. “Yeah, I’m sure you’re right.” Jane nodded, taking a small bite from her pizza. “But you do promise that you’re going to be safe, right? If I’m not allowed to make stupid decisions, you can’t either.” She pointed over at him with a raise of an eyebrow before sending a wink in his direction. That’s what she adored about her husband, yes they disagreed but at the end of the day, they were always and forever a team. “Oh, I think he’s going out plenty.” Jane let her husband know. ‘You’d be shocked to know that Javier actually takes him out like almost everyday. I don’t know what it is that those two do during their daily outings but you have to see Javier with Franco strapped on. It’s the cutest thing.” Jane let Damon with a small pout. “He’s already got a bad ass one for his first.” Jane countered, making her way over towards her husband… if only to playfully bump her hip against him as she got herself another slice of pizza. “Oh, now he’s into it.” Jane laughed. “You know this means you’re going to be George.”
“I do promise that. Jane, you oughta know by now that I’m not into the funny business anymore. I just want to get over with it. I’ve been over the whole Greasers thing for a while, you know?” Sure, his pride still hurt from now and then. It was a big change, to go from the leader of half the town to only the owner of a successful nightclub. But he was past all of that, it had been months and for the first time in forever, Damon didn’t feel like he wanted revenge. The Greasers seemed to be doing okay and though shit was going to hell on the South side, he tried to help in any way that he could instead of wasting his energy going after someone that he knew was more powerful than him at the moment. “Oh, shit, really? You need to send me pictures of that shit. Of course Javier does it. I’m not even surprised.” He chuckled, honestly beyond happy that all the boys seemed to adore their kid. He was proud of Javi though, he’d grown up to be such a good man that was always there for those he loved. Just like Damon always had. “What? No way. Franco will be George. What’s the point of me being George, don’t be silly.”
smokingaceschw:
Ace chuckled, “Nah, I ain’t call you here to catch up. If I wanted to be bored by the ins and outs of domestic life, Full House is on Netflix.” Damon wasn’t gonna let him ease into that, which Ace expected, but it didn’t mean it made it easier for someone like him to swallow his pride. “You know it’s tougher than I thought, bein’ the one everybody’s lookin’ at to lead. Heavy is the crown, ain’t that how that shit goes? I mean I’m handlin’ it because handlin’ it what I do but I’m up against and in some shit with motherfuckers I didn’t think I’d have to be up against and with. Suits and shit. They want this SoWood shit bad, hurtin’ motherfuckers ain’t gonna change nothin’. I gotta think outside of my realm and shit.”
Damon ignored his words, really. He was beyond the whole acting cool thing, he wasn’t a kid anymore, that was something that his friends and even Ace seemed to forget. Sure, his life was entirely different to what it once had been, but it was called growth and he didn’t regret any of it. “Huh.” He almost hummed it out, not really following him. Being a leader came to Damon naturally, he had never even stopped to think how much he did until it was all taken from him. Damon also doubted that Ace was telling him all of this without ulterior motives so, all he did was look out at the view of the city. For a long time he’d felt like he owned it, he assumed that was how Ace felt too now. So he shoved his hands in the pockets of his coat, looking down at Ace. “What do you want? ‘Cause if you’re gonna whine after only being in the job for six months, you’re in for a shitty ass life, AC. And I got domestic shit to so if all you wanna do is whine, you could hire someone to hear you do that.”
mrsjanewinston:
Jane looked over at him, the look on her face letting him know that she didn’t agree with that statement whatsoever. Yes, Jane wasn’t outwardly the ‘toughest’ person Damon knew, that award most likely went to Two-Bit but she was not the type of person who let her family be fucked with. Ace Claymore had not only put his hands on her husband, but he’d had the gall to come and essentially flaunt that to her. In front of her child, no less. No, she was owed her moment with the man and she’d get it. It might not be today, tomorrow or anytime soon but Ace would know that she was not to be messed with. “And I very much appreciate the fact that you are being honest with me.” Jane tilted her head as Damon spoke of taking care of it. “So you’re allowed to take care of it, but I can’t so much as say I want so much as a moment with that asshole. That doesn’t sound very fair to me.” Jane let him know, taking a small bit of her pizza. Sure, she was slightly annoyed at the fact that she was being protected but Damon did know best when it came to these situations. “Oh, I am not accepting Curious George slander in this household.” Jane looked at him as if he was crazy. “Paw Patrol? Compared to Curious George, come on now. Those puppies don’t compare to the classic Curious George.” Jane stuck her tongue right back out at her husband. “Well, duh. He’s definitely going to be the dude who solely wears yellow.”
“Yes, he threatened me by coming to see you, Jane. It had nothing to do with you, it’s just...something that he did to show me how much power he held over me.” He explained to her. He hated to admit it, but Damon knew all about using strategy for things like this, Ace knew exactly what he was doing when he decided to come to their house that night. It was just a power move. Damon knew he’d never hurt Jane of Franco, but it still pissed him off. Luckily for all of them, so many years in the business made Damon a more calculating person, who did nothing without knowing the exact outcome that it would have for him and those around him. That was why he had been so quiet about Ace taking the Greasers from him because he’d yet to find an outcome that made him happy. “He’s got nothing against you or our son, this was all about power. Therefore, we have to show him that we still hold some power around him. We do that by not showing fear like we’ve been doing the past few months, not by facing him.” Damon just laughed even more as she began going on about cartoons, that was about all that they watched these days since Franco was always binge watching something. Not that Damon minded, really. He’d never been much of a tv person. “I think it’s time Franco starts going out more now that he can walk. He needs a badass theme party for his second birthday.” He joked lightly, finishing his slice and then taking another one as he leaned against the counter. “Okay, maybe I am into this whole Curious George thing.”
smokingaceschw:
Ace didn’t have far to travel to get to the tracks well before Damon arrived, he’d been close by checking on two of the newer greasers. He perched himself on top of one of the old train cars, legs dangling like a king surveying his kingdom, but really he just liked to feel in control and wanted to see Damon coming, even if there was no real threat there. He wasn’t exactly looking forward to the conversation he needed to have with Damon but it wasn’t about him and that’s what he had to keep telling himself. “You’re early, what you nervous or somethin’?” He said with his usual bravado and a smirk, “How’s life since retirement treatin’ ya?” He yelled down from where he still sat.
@damn-winston
Damon had his doubts about this meeting, but he’d never been a coward. Besides, he felt as if he knew Ace rather well. If the other man wanted to harm him or to start shit up, he wouldn’t be cryptic about it. He would go to the club and get it done just like he’d done it once before. His honor was the reason why Damon still, in a way, could trust his gut about his old friend. “I’m always early. Old habits die hard.” Damon let out, a nonchalant air to his words. He looked up to see Ace sitting on the train car and wasted no time climbing up to join him. Despite the retirement jokes that he got from him or any of his friends, Damon was honestly even more fit these days than when he’d been head of the Greasers. He had more time to himself, maybe that was why. “Don’t tell me you called me here to catch up ‘cause no offense but I ain’t interested, my dude.”

Jane’s smile was bright as her husband pulled away from her, enjoying the sight of him showing affection to their son. To say that her husband hadn’t always been this way was an understatement and he was still very tough— she was sure Damon wouldn’t want her to make him out to be a teddy bear… but let’s be real, he was very much one to her. “Come over here.” Jane let him know, pulling him in for yet another kiss. That one solely for selfish purposes as she just couldn’t help herself when in his company. “Okay? I find that hard to believe. When has Katz had an okay night?” Jane asked her husband. “I would have loved one of those nights when I was working down there.” She told him, teasingly. “What?” She asked Damon, shaking her head. The nerve of that man. “Oh no, he should be careful. After what he did to you and then him showing up here, to try to intimidate me. Damon, I am ready for that man.” Jane let her husband know. Now, she was in no way a violent person or wished ill on anyone… but Ace Claymore owed her a slap to that face of his. “Of course it’s bad ass.” Jane told her husband, not shocked to hear him say such a thing. That was the Damon Winston way. “I went with the only bad ass… well, one that’s appropriate for a one year old… Curious George.”
Damon laughed a little against her lips as she came back in for another kiss, never complaining. They’d been together for years and he still couldn’t get enough of her, he didn’t think that would ever change at this rate. They were in love as if they were still on day one. “It’s okay once you’re the boss and you don’t have to worry about cleaning up the mess, you know?” Granted, he’d been a little busier these days, especially after Scott quit since he’d been leaning on him a lot. But luckily, after the holidays there had been a lot of college students interested in finding a job and he had a complete squad which meant less stress for him. He could give himself and his family some nights to be together instead of being at the club all day, everyday. “You are, in no way, ready for that man. I want you to keep your distance from it all, Jane. I’m serious. I’m only telling you ‘cause I promised to be a hundred percent honest with you.” He reminded her easily. He knew when it came to defending him, Jane could make weird decisions that she normally wouldn’t. “I’ll take care of him, don’t you worry.” He insisted before he rolled his eyes playfully at her. “The monkey that don’t even talk and the dude that only wears yellow shit? I think I would have preferred Paw Patrol. At least I know what’s going on in that one.” Damon joked lightly, sticking his tongue out at her. “Can we ask Two-Bit to dress up for the party though? i bet he would if it meant Franco would smile for 0.2 seconds.”
mrsjanewinston:
Jane had been putting together goodie bags, given that Franco’s big 0-1 was just a couple of days away. If you knew Jane Winston, you knew that the woman was festive. There wasn’t a holiday she didn’t celebrate so you could imagine that she was ready to go all out for her firstborn. So far, their families had agreed to come. Both Greasers and her family, which meant that the party was definitely going to be a meeting of two very different worlds but at the end of the day… they came together in the beautiful baby boy— who was currently running around in circles. “Are you really?” She asked, happily looking up from the boxes of goodie bags as she saw that face that she loved so dearly. “Okay, but you honestly don’t have to tell me twice.” Jane told him, scoping up their son before making her way towards him. To say she was starving was an understatement. “How was work?” She asked Damon, pressing a kiss to his lips. “I want to hear all about it.” Jane said, bouncing Franco on her hip as she went to place him in his high chair. “I can tell you right now, I’m kind of in the running for best mom ever because our baby is gonna have the best first birthday party.” Jane let Damon know with a boom and a feigned mic drop.
“Hello you two.” He grinned widely at the sight of his wife and their son, kissing her eagerly and then moving to kiss the top of Franco’s head, giving him a tight hug. It was still surreal that they had a kid. Especially for Damon, who had never really thought he’d have a family like this. The greasers had always been everything to him, so to say that he was surprised by how much his life had changed the past year between losing the gang and being a new father, it was an understatement. He was content though. Somehow, he was content with what he had right now. It felt like he had enough. Like he had everything he’d ever wanted. “Work was okay. I should tell you that Ace has been texting me. Not entirely sure what he wants but I want you to be careful, okay?” Damon smirked a little, taking another bite of his slice of pizza before he got a small plate for their son and put a slice of pizza on it, setting it down on his high chair table carefully. “Oh, really? What’s the theme? I hope it’s something badass. Because we know our little man is gonna be a total badass.”
Damon was definitely weirded out by Ace’s text, but he assumed it had everything to do with how bad things were getting on the South Side. After all, every other day, families were taking what little money they were giving them for their properties and running away from Rosewood. It was getting bad and there wasn’t a lot that Damon could do these days. All the money he made from the club went to taking care of his family and the rest of it to the shelter that he had for those that didn’t have a roof over their heads in town. He could have helped more if he’d been on Ace’s place, if people still feared him, but now with his reputation as tarnished as it was, he was simply another businessman these days. So with that in mind, he stepped into his house with a pizza box in his hands and tried to erase the frown in his face so that Jane wouldn’t ask him about it. “Honey, I’m home!” He called playfully, setting the food down on the counter and opening the box to begin eating a slice. “I brought pizza. Come over here.” @mrsjanewinston

Having recently received yet another agonizingly bad script from her agent, Nadine read it over, or rather, skimmed it, cringing a bit as she did so. She’d never been one to turn down any chance of exposure though, even something as bad as this. Looking up, she called after the person closest to her booth at St. Elmos. “Hey, you! Yeah, you, would you watch a…,” she peeked back down at the log line in front of her, “horror movie about those Ring door bells, or whatever?”
“Eh, I don’t really watch a lot of movies.” Damon told her without barely looking at her, his eyes more focused on his phone than anything else as usual. He was just waiting on some takeout for he and his wife and was bored, that was the only reason why he even bothered to answer. “What even are Ring door bells?”

Ace: Boo! It's the boogey man.
Ace: Let's meet somewhere and talk. You choose the place.
Damon: What's there for us to talk about?

“Yeah, that and my post puberty glow up. How serious are you about that statement though, came out of your mouth pretty naturally, my guy.” Sid said, fully committed to shooting the shit with Franco for the time being, “Yep, and she’s as frustrating as she is attractive. She’s like hung up on her ex, who isn’t even that good looking, he’s just a celebrity so needless to say a piece of shit.” Sid turned up her nose, “See that was not, because I can’t imagine that’s something you’re good at. You’re too pretty.”
“You mean about the kids? Oh hell no. That’s scary as shit. Could you see me changing a diaper? Hell no. I would be like the worst father figure ever.” he offered some of the sour worms and smirked. “I am very pretty but I also know you pretty well. I feel like I can tell your taste and shit.”

He shrugged innocently but didn’t say anything to counter his accusation. It was one of the more gentle ways to describe Xavier, if he was honest. “50 bucks?” He was surprised by the number and thought about it for a second. It was more than he was comfortable losing but if he won it he’d be pretty happy about it. “Fine, fuck it. You’re on.” They shook on it and then X stepped back to let him take the swing.
“Fuck yes.” Franco exclaimed excitedly, finally getting ready. He knew these games were rigged so the possibilities of both of them losing were 99.9%. Still, Franco went as hard as he could on the striker, making it go all the way to 90 out 100. “Oh shit, not too bad. Not too bad.”
