Backstory
To most people, the Wolfe family looks like the average, everyday family. Maybe a bit more well off than a good majority, but other than that? Besides a few quirks here and there, everything seemed relatively normal with them. But not everything was as perfect as it looked from the outside looking in. The first thing being that they are a family of witches. Capable of performing rituals, hex bags, and what not. The second thing? Since they're natural witches, they age MUCH slower. His parents are over 100 years old, and were still able to have him. The Wolfe bloodline carries an unusual magical longevity. Once they reach adulthood, their aging slows considerably, allowing members of the family to live for centuries if nothing kills them first.
When he was fifteen, some hunters went after Sethan and his family. Sethan may be kinder than most witches they hunted, but his parents? Well... he can't say that their souls are genuine examples of purity. Still... he couldn't sit by and let them die. But he wasn't strong enough with his magic yet. But he knew one thing he could do. A ritual... of sorts. A summoning.
A summoning for a crossroads demon.
He managed to sneak away and get to a crossroads just in time, quickly performing the ritual. He made a deal with the demon. Power. He wanted to be able to summon and control hellhounds to kill the hunters. The demon was wary at first, but eventually? He caved. Witches' souls tend to not be as 'pure' as Sethan's was. The demon recognized that Sethan was fifteen, came from a family that was magically gifted, desperate, and still relatively innocent. The perfect time to buy in, in their opinion. When the deal was complete, Sethan felt the power rush through him. And he didn't hesitate. Mentally summoning and ordering the hellhounds to attack. Unfortunately though, he wasn't fast enough. His entire family, the Wolfe legacy, was dead. And he was the lone survivor.
After inheriting everything and watching his family be hunted down by them, Sethan had a deep hatred for hunters. Still... he remebered that he was on borrowed time. In 10 years? Hellhounds would come for him. And Sethan was determined to find a way out of it. Being able to manipulate and control and summon the hellhounds was nice, but he still needed to grow his natural magic. So Sethan did. For 10 years, he grew his magic while looking for a way to survive. To avoid having his soul dragged down to hell. And he finally found it. And, ironically, it was thanks to the notes of a hunter.
So he laid a trap, the Devil's Trap, which would ensnare and depower most demons that walked into it. And Sethan had some herbs to keep hellhounds away from him. So he waited for the demon. Because if the dogs couldn't get him? The demon would come to him. And sure enough, after about two days? The demon did. And it fell right into the trap.
At first? It denied. But a few spells and rituals later? It agreed. Because while Sethan had no way to kill the thing? He could torture it. And under the throes of torture, one would be desperate enough to do anything for it to stop. After he noted the hellhounds were gone and the contract really was finished? He let out a sigh of relief, and unlocked the door. Hunters quickly filed into the room and even though he broke the Devil's Trap? The demon had nowhere to go but to escape through it's smoke form and leave it's host.
Sethan had promised to break the seal, after all, he didn't promise that he wouldn't attempt to have it killed. Sethan had been quick to flee himself as well. After all, the last thing he needed was for these hunters to realize that he was a witch and to turn their weapons on him.
So he grabbed his packed bags, got in his car, and drove. Drove and drove until it seemed like a mist had surrounded the car. For a moment, he was worried it was the demon. But it cleared a few moments later, and he saw himself pas a sign. 'Welcome to DC.'
