this is verse/time dependent ! .... so kinda? 

pre s2 - nope ! carol is seriously committed to tommy and plans to spend the rest of her life with him. she wants to go to the same college and already has a binder of wedding ideas & inspo... though he hasn’t seen it. after graduation plans are kind of rough spot for them, the discussions not always going well but carol has faith it’ll all work out !

s2/post s2 - correct ! in my hc tommy takes after b*lly more and more, eventually dumping carol & getting her ostracized from the ‘ ‘ cool clique ’ ’ during their senior year. obviously there’s no coming back from his cruelty and rejection. she’s kind of spiraling from both adjusting to her new social status & trying to figure out what to do now that her future plans can’t revolve around tommy anymore.

      carol scoffs and makes fun of someone’s costume, “ like that’s scary. i’ve seen worse in the hawkins high cafeteria. ”  turning to the person closest to her, she taps their arm to get their attention. it's pretty obvious carol had already downed a few drinks tonight.  “ hey, do you smoke? ”  actually taking the time to look at who she was talking to, carol recognizes the other girl.  “ sss...saoirse, right? ”

     if carol could get a tighter grip on the car somehow she would. unfortunately for her, she was already holding on as tightly as possible as they sped down the streets of hawkins. “ are you sure? because i’m pretty sure we passed the turn tommy told us about two streets back. ”  she argues, turning her head to look out the car’s back window. “ he said a house with blue siding. how many houses around here do you think have blue siding? ”

About Carol’s Relationships & Children (for her adult verse):

Tommy and Carol break up a few months after the start of senior year of high school. Tommy is acting too much like Billy and while Carol can handle Tommy being shitty to other people, she can’t take him being shitty towards her. After they break up she’s no longer “cool” and since she’s been a bitch to everyone else she basically becomes a weird loner for the rest of her senior year. 

By her sophomore year of college she’s in a serious relationship with a man who is practically Tommy 2.0 minus the temper. Their relationship is rocky and he tries to fix things by proposing. They’re married after a year of dating. They try and fix things again by having a child and Carol drops out of college her senior year to be a stay at home mom. Unfortunately they file for divorce when their son is just 8 months old to the dismay of both of their families.

Carol tries to be independent for a few years and even finishes her degree but ultimately accepts her parent’s offer to help and moves back to Hawkins. It’s during this time that she has a fling with Tommy. He already has a child with an ex girlfriend. Carol’s relationship with her mother reaches a boiling point about the same time that things with Tommy are fizzling out. Once Carol finds out she’s pregnant, it’s decided. She leaves town and lives with just her son again. Carol never tells Tommy that they have son and never tells her son who his father is. His freckles and temper are pretty recognizable though. Years and years later when going through old photos the boys find pictures of Carol and Tommy in high school and draw their own conclusions.

Carol works hard and focuses on herself, eventually meeting her third husband. Their relationship works well for years, mostly because they both travel and rarely spent time together. They have a son together who’s quite a bit younger than his two brothers and the kindest of them. Eventually things go south though and Carol is divorced for the second time. That is her last & longest serious relationship. 

As she gets older, Carol focuses on herself and supporting her sons. Two of them live with her as adults even but all three eventually move out and have their own families. Carol loves her grand kids and has 10 of them. When she passes away of old age her funeral is quite intimate. Her family makes up the vast majority of the guests though a handful of her friends from over the years are there along with her 2nd ex husband.
