rafkhan:
His unfocused gaze stayed lifted towards the television for a few more moments, processing the strangerâs words before he looked in their direction. Rafiqâs brows raised the slightest. âIf you still watch cartoons, why donât you recognize that one?â He nodded towards the mounted TV as he asked the presumptive question. Quickly, he tagged on a loose shrug. âI havenât even watched an animated movie in a long time, I donât think.â
âI may have a love for cartoons, but that doesnât mean I watch them allâ they said and smiled a soft smile as they shrugged. Leaning back, they sighed a little. âWait, you havenât? Like no Disney or Pixar?â they asked, clearly surprised. Looking down at the book in their lap, they then closed it and put it on the table. âLike is it because you think youâre too old to watch them? Or just because youâre not interested?â
âI forgot how cool it was to watch early morning cartoons.â His eyelids felt heavy as he stared up at the mounted diner television. Its volume was set low, subtitles racing along the bottom of the screen, but Rafiq was too tired to read more than the laminated menu thatâd been slapped down in front of him. He had a rotten headache thudding at the back of his head and a dry mouth to accompany the telltale sign of a hangover. With a low hum, Rafiq blinked back to the hot mug clutched between his palms, wondering how much longer itâd be before his 7AM breakfast would get to the bar top. âAlthough, Iâve got no fuckinâ clue what show that is,â he murmured. Some weird, new version of Sonic maybe â he didnât know.
âI actually love early morning cartoons. I never really stopped loving themâ William admitted with a shrug. As they looked at the other, they smiled. âAnd yeah, it looks kinda.. odd if you ask meâ they added and tilted their head, frowning a little.
âIâll be honest, I didnât hear like half of that. I was too preoccupied with how damn good this drink tasted and how Iâm definitely going to order another⊠Run it by me one more time? Iâll pay attention this time. Promise.âÂ
âOh?â they said and looked at him, a soft chuckle leaving their lips. âI sometimes just ramble about the most weird things. I had no idea what I just saidâ they admitted and sighed.
âIâm actually quite excited to see the remake of the movie IT, see if they make it better than the original but thatâs high hopes.â Elena stared at her phone before placing it back on her lap, âHow about you, excited for the upcoming scary movies this summer?â
âBeyond excited actually. I think it sounds pretty interesting. And the costume and makeup looks amazingâ they mused and nodded their head. âBut if itâs a disappointment, so be it. I mostly wanted to see the makeup anywayâ
â   d- do you mind if I sit here?â Eden asks, more rhetorically as he already slides into the empty seat and pulls down the rain dripping edges of his hoodie. âthe storm wasnât due till midday, but thereâs the infallibility of meteorology for you - and weâre the ones who have to suffer the wet hair and running noses.â
They had been sitting here for a solid thirty minutes, trying to write down something in their notebook. That was when they heard a voice. Head snapping up, William tilted their head. âSure, be my guestâ they said gently and smiled. As the other started to talk, they couldnât help but feel the smile get wider. âI have an umbrella. So no wet hair for meâ
veraclark:
âI saw my life flash before my eyes for a second but no, Iâm all right. Thank you though.â She held out a hand as she introduced herself. âIâm Vera, by the way. I appreciate you checking up on me to make sure I didnât injure myself. Can I buy you a coffee or whatever you drink to say thanks?âÂ
Smiling when they heard her words, they nodded. Taking her hand into their own, they shook it. âHello Vera, Iâm Williamâ they said. âIâm just a caring person so it was a no brainer for me really. But yes, I would love a coffeeâ they said with a warm smile on their lips.
bcforbes:
âNeither do I, because I looked terrible. But-â He raised his arms as though he wanted to shrug but only shook his head with a soft smile. âYeah probably.â, Brett concluded with a huff. âIâm Brett, by the way. Now that youâve listened to my half-rant.â
As the other raised his arms, William once again giggled softly. âAh pleasure to meet you Brett. Iâm Williamâ they said and smiled softly. âIâm used to listening to people rant and vent about their frustrations. But itâs the first time I have listened to someone rant about a shirtâ they teased.
sageanders:
âI donât know, itâs just â odd. Iâve been in the same firm since I was 18, they paid for my degree, itâs strange to be out on my own.â
âIâve been working as a librarian all my adult life. So I donât really know how it feels to own a buisnessâ they said. âBut to me you sounds really strong and smart because starting a buisness nowadays isnât an easy taskâ

âBut right here I have something Iâve never seen before. Please tell me where youâve ever seen a display quite like that.â He pointed towards the man for emphasis. âAs bad as it is, it does teach you something.â He agreed.Â
Looking towards the direction of the man, they couldnât help but to laugh. âOkay fair pointâ they said and nodded. Nodding, they sighed softly. âI feel kinda bad for him though because the rejection will stingâ
mila-bwitz:
Mila looked up over at the stranger at the table next to her. She gave them a small smile. âPhysically yes. Mentally, Iâm not sure. Iâm just having a work crisis.â
Pouting when they heard her words, they sighed. âThatâs never fun.Thatâs just unnecessary stress if you ask meâ they said and nodded to their own words.Â
veraclark:
âOh, yea, Iâm just fine. I swear Iâm not always this horribly uncoordinated.â She was a little bit embarrassed about almost just falling on her face in public, but she tried to brush it off. âI practically did a somersault. That was kind of cool, right?âÂ
âHey, we all have days were we fall on our facesâ they said and giggled a little. âYeah, it was cool. I was a little worried that you might have hurt yourselfâ they added.
âIn what world did I think setting up my own business would be a good idea? All this talk of licencing and finance is going to melt my brain out my ears.â
âHey, youâre just living the dream.. in a way. The work is worth it, is it not?â they asked and smiled.
markthekeyconnor:
âIâll agree with you on the crab as far as the trash can theory though, I donât think they have many feelings. Itâs an object verses a living thing but whatever you want to believe thoughâ Connor chuckled, it seemed odd but it brought a smile to his lips. The nonsense of it all made Connor feel better. âThatâs deep and it sucks you had to go through not only actual physical abuse but to be questioned for your own character is such a struggle everywhere. At least you found your power. Itâs very encouraging actually. Yep, Iâm your number one when you need meâ Seeing the blush from the other, Connorâs lips widen even more. Happy to see it. âGood to know, Iâd like to see you smile more. Um.. you wanna grab some food? My place isnât far from hereâÂ
âKinda sad that objects canât feel things. But yeah, those are some of the thoughts I have. Not the most normal things, but being normal is overrated anywaysâ they said and giggled softly. Seeing the smile on Connorâs lips made William relax and let out a breath they didnât know they were holding. Clasping their hands together, William lookd at him and smiled as they listened to him talk. âYeah not being accepted for who you are by someone who was claiming they loved you, that hurt not gonna lie. But with time you move on from that pain. Why thank you, I strive to inspire peopleâ they said with a nod. He had a charming smile, thatâs for sure. And hearing his words and the question only made them blush even more, looking down at their hands for a moment to collect their thoughts. âYeah, Iâm starving actuallyâ they said. Â
Mila sat in a coffee shop just down the street from her home. Danek forgot to pay the internet bill (again). And when you run your own business, you live off the internet.Â
She sat near the window that faced the busy Boston streets, silently sipping on her latte, pouring over her notes. She had all of a sudden got two new clients and three different events to plan by April. While only two were baby showers, the concert benefit was a first for Mila on her own. And she needed to find a band that would be available and has name recognitionâŠÂ
âFuck.âÂ
It was a normal day for William, sitting in the coffee shop just relaxing before they had to go back to work. Going through some emails on their phone, they frowned when they heard someone curse. âEveryting okay?â they asked and looked up, studying her with a worried expression.
Since last year, Vera had gotten into the habit of going for a run before work. Every morning, she got up at seven without fail and headed out the door. Everything was going great and she was less than a quarter of a mile from being done when her foot missed a step and she tripped, managing to save herself from faceplanting on the sidewalk by tucking and rolling. She immediately jumped up and looked around to see someone staring at her. âUh⊠you didnât just see thatâŠâÂ
William was just minding their own buisness, but that was when they saw someone trip. âSadly I did. Are you okay?â they asked and smiled softly, studying her to see if she was hurt.
