How on earth are ReTHUGliCONs so filled with hate? What satanic verses are their religious leaders spewing on Sundays? Every single thing they do is about cruelty and harm.
It’s time to visit their churches with signs and bullhorns and shame them!

By the end of 1968, I was six years old.
What do you do to celebrate yourself? I honor myself annually for a week around the time of my birth. The joy of reminiscence mixed with the vivification of inspired ideas encourages me to expand inner growth. This year’s basking in my internal reflection has taken on new meaning In the days leading up to my 60th birthday on 11/22, my dear friend Jody posed a question to me before we said our…

NASHVILLE weekend following several days in Johnson City, TN has been nothing short of AHHHHHMAZING. I worked for only 9-minutes while here in Music City. I’ve been moving slowly to be sure to enjoy every minute.
Let’s jump backwards from this heavenly moment where I’m typing slowly on my iPhone at Blue Sushi and Sake Grill. I’ll admit that I merely wanted to see the menu because I am someone who does not order fish in a landlocked area. But all the fish on this menu states the exact area where it is sourced and how it was caught, from Iceland to Alaska to Washington state to Japan and beyond. It is a freaking awesome tastebud, sight, and sound experience. It’s truly perfect.
Preceding this moment, I experienced the most amazing music museum that I have been to. I have visited many music museums in the U.S.and Europe. The National Museum of African American Music tops them all by far. I spent 3 hours there and you could easily spend many more. It is completely immersive in both sound and vision. It is a MUST see here in the land of honey tonk and surpasses everything. The celebration of Juneteenth today is not lost on me. I quietly cried through some of the exhibits. My mom introduced me to Soul/R&B early in my life and the beats, melodies, and freaktastic vocalizing have influenced my happy life and living.
I have been resting my weary soul on the Cumberland River in a perfect AirBnB condo with a lovely vibe of Dolly Parton and guitar decor. It’s just far enough off the busy downtown of music, drinks, and food to feel like it’s not even inside a city! 8-blocks is all it takes to get away from the hustle bustle of downtown Broadway and 2nd Ave. I spent just two hours at noon on Friday on the storied avenues which was just enough to capture a series of videos to share with you. https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PL7uM7ew7ZRQc3HL8S-150dMtuht177xrE
I’m now headed to the Ryman Auditorium for one more tour before I head back to the condo to read a book on Dolly’s music life and living. This final day in Nashville is perfect.
I've been to Tennessee several times in my life, but never to Nashville. I am a big fan of Memphis. Let's see what this weekend in Nashville
Time For A Rest, Yet No Rest Comes
Time For A Rest, Yet No Rest Comes
When I started this post days ago, I wrote this: the past 36-hours have been a whirlwind of helping activities at the college combined with a mind-numbing, heart hurting, crushing realization that the life in education I’ve been helping myself and others to build, curate, prune, and fill with love is being ripped from my hands in one fell swoop. I have always been open to change and embracing it…

Last (last) Weakly Journal of April
Last (last) Weakly Journal of April
Beginning of the weak: The incessant throbbing in my head stems from a combination of being beaten into submission by a deep flu bug (that I have thrice determined via a test that is not Covid) and from keeping an eye close to the news unfolding more details every day of the plans to overthrow the country we love. America is being tested by the minority who use Orwellian Newspeak and lies to…

Extraordinary Independent Music
I’ve had a wee break from the daily grind at the college. It’s been positive and inspiring amidst a backdrop of world-weary realities. Music always saves me and this past month helped to reel me in from the nether regions of negativity to the shining light of sound. Check out the music and buy this EP today. It is AMAZING! (Also, the artists receive all proceeds from sales on the first Friday of…

Falling Back an Hour
Falling Back an Hour
I feel a lot of falling back these days. I don’t mean into old habits, but rather the feeling of falling backward the way you do when you’re a little kid and you allow yourself to fall back into a pool or fall back onto a bed you’ve just been jumping on the past 10-minutes. The feeling of fearless abandon when you just let go is something that I’m feeling almost daily. I realize that I’m doing…

September Saturday
It’s been such a long time since I’ve sat still on a Saturday with a steaming cup of java in hand, listening to the morning unfold. My mind is soft and gooey from a nice sleep as the grey clouds before my eyes abate the usual busy thoughts that would normally take over. You’re not going to interrupt my morning, busy thoughts. I hear a beeping, a flutter, and some human chatter approaching below.…

Pure Silence
Awaking to aural emptiness is one of the most stunning experiences. In this past week, I have twice been in this space and it brings a restful delight that I wish to attempt to express to you. When one’s ear has nothing to focus on, when molecules are not vibrating and tickling the ear drum, one can feel at peace in an automatic meditative state. It causes me to stop and do nothing because…

July Beat
She breaks the sound barrier heading directly up to the starlight goals of her summer. Oooh, that sounds good. I wish I was on track this sixth day of July. I made some motivational changes to enhance my July 2021 promising myself to write every single day of this month. Write something: a blog post, a journal entry, a few paragraphs of a chapter for my novella, compose a song, write one line of…

MAPS! Oh, yes! MAPS! Get your MAP ZINE here!
MAPS! Oh, yes! MAPS! Get your MAP ZINE here!
Have I ever shared just how much I love maps? Globes and maps are my treasures and I’ve been reading them since I was a wee little girl when my mommy drew one for me to keep with me every day that I walked to and from school. Well, that memory map can be found in a super cool zine that my friend Yoko-OK dreamed up, created, compiled, wrote a song for (that inspired the whole project), and invited…

April? April was my last post here?
April? April was my last post here?
My goodness! Summer is nearly here and my last post was in April! THAT is just how busy buried I became with a boatload of bedraggled busy-ness. Woof. I’m sure glad THAT is over! Now, it’s time for a bit of a respite from the grind and here I find myself alone again with you. Thank you for sifting through my thoughts here as there are so many all jumbled up inside my weary brain. TODAY: oysters!…

Pandemic Pinches & Purposeful Proposals
Pandemic Pinches & Purposeful Proposals
The extraordinary amount of freedom brought by a couple of appointments to render a body (nearly)free of the sickness and ultimate ravaging vestiges of Covid-19 is something to behold. GET YOUR SHOT(s). Why do I state this with such vehemence? Yesterday, I was able to spend 6-hours with my friend sans mask (when we were alone) and masked (when in public) that provided more freedom than I have…

The Bounty of Being
The Bounty of Being
I sit on the balcony in the warmth of the sun soaking up as much of her rays that I can fit into 10-minutes before the long work day begins. I feel like a rechargeable battery at 60% revving up to get to 100 in order to provide the energy needed to do everything and more. A light wind tickles my face like the virtual fingertips playing with my imagination in a dream last night. The most…

Light Beams
I raise my body up at 5:07a to the feelings that I’ve grown accustomed to over several years of Danatude = (solitude mixed in a strong go-it-alone attitude with a marked inflection of radical Dana in a world divided by Pi). Take a circle and look at its diameter and circumference. Divide the latter by the former. You get 𝜋, yes, π. It’s a special kind of sadness in the attempt to provide a square…

Radical Dana divided by Wonderment = the Square Root of Pi
Sometimes a day that doesn’t start out right can end up on the opposite axis jumping into a positive polarity in a blink. Such was my Thursday, March 25th that began with morning and early afternoon misconnection thwarting my planned progress for the day. I found myself at the mercy of the digital gods and merely let go without a panic in an “Oh, well–Orwell moment,” if you will. The good news is…
