When prepping for ComicCon 2020, you need all paws on deck!
Sheeta and Panther on the scene to help out!
Panther is in the second photo. He can be a bully at times. He chases all the cats but is overall a sweetheart, especially with his humans. Long and lean, he is a known food burglar. He has nicked turkey from sandwiches left unattended and tried to take tuna salad as it was being made.
His second favorite hobby is making our cattle dog chase him through the living room. He knows he is faster, so why not?
Sheeta has found a comfy spot!
She is tinier then Panther. Her favorite thing to do every morning is have us chase her through the house to be caught and fed. (She and Panther eat in a room away from our feral, Pika, so Pika is not tormented by these two devils).
Sheeta supervising ComicCon 2020 prep. We got Sheeta and her cousin Panther three years ago from a friend who was fostering them. We went to pick out one black kitten and you know how that goes!
They each had different Moms (Katniss and Gucci), but were living together in a wonderful house full of kittens.
Hey-
Over the years exhibiting at Comic-Con, I have tried many mediums for my art. I have sold clocks, bookmarks, t-shirts, prints, coasters, buttons, etc. Then one year I tried vinyl stickers.
Vinyl stickers have been a game-changer for me. Everyone can use a sticker. They usually have a scrap of water bottle or laptop real estate they have been saving for just the right sticker. Now there are even sticker meetups where local artists gather at breweries and exchange stickers and small talk. I participated in one of these at Iron Fist Brewery. Very cool.
I started out the old-fashioned way, single color, cutting and weeding myself. The work was tedious and time-consuming. I wanted more. My customers wanted more. I decided to try multicolored vinyl stickers produced by someone else. Sticker Mule fit the bill. Love Stickermule.com!
So now I send my completed artwork to Sticker Mule and receive beautiful vinyl sticker product. Sticker Mule is easy to work with and they usually run sales.
Check out my stuff and find what you’ve been saving that spot on your water bottle for.

Buttons, buttons, and more buttons!
Every June/July I sit at the bar in our family room, (really a Tiki room), making over three thousand buttons BY HAND. Morning, noon, and night you can hear the manual button maker as I lower the arm that melds the button front to the button back. Good times. LOL.
When I first started making buttons, it was another way to sell my art on a different medium. A medium that was affordable for everyone. Back in the day, a button would go for one dollar. Who doesn’t have one dollar left over on the last day of the Con? Well, OK, maybe a lot of you but…
My kids also got on the button band wagon. My daughter took photos of our family pets and made large 2-inch buttons. My son sketched a VW bus (still one of our most popular buttons, BTW) and came up with some humorous ones. My wife also contributed to the written ones. It is a family affair.
From single buttons, we evolved into button packs. As you can see in the photos, button packs come with their own art card backing and 4 buttons.
We get our button-making blanks and equipment from Tecre.com.

Howdy and Happy-July-that-Never-Was,
Missing the Comic Con? I feel your pain, truly. Many of you know I exhibited there for 16 years straight, the end of row 900, table G-5. But at least we have some incredible art to shop, right? I will also be checking out all my favorite artists.
My coffin paintings started as kind of a fluke. I hadn’t really painted anything, always sketching, but I decided to try something new. I enjoy drawing mermaids. Then I got into Day of the Dead art. So, it was only natural that I combine the two and I made my first coffin piece for a favorite taco shop of ours, OMG Tako Factory. I painted my first Day of the Dead mermaid, La Sirena. They loved it and hung it up in the restaurant.
From there, I painted coffins with devil gals, ghosts, witches, mermaids, Bride of Frankenstein, Day of the Dead. One year at HorrorgasmSD, I painted a 2 coffin-couple that everyone knows and loves, Jack and Sally from Nightmare. They disappeared quickly.
The coffin blanks come from Trekell.com and I paint with acrylics. I find painting coffin art quite enjoyable for myself and for the future homes they travel to.
Last year at Comic-Con, I had a gentleman come up, point at the Bride of Frankenstein coffin piece exhibited behind me, and buy it within seconds. He said his wife collected Bride art and they have a dining room devoted to the Bride.
You never know where your art will finally hang…. Happy Shopping!
Ps: Cat lovers scroll down to see my kittens, Panther and Sheeta (#pantherandsheeta), helping me photograph some of the coffins.
