There is no one that Diana can love without knowing that she will eventually lose them

Even if Steve had lived, she’s immortal and Diana would eventually have to watch him grow old and die while she stays the same. (This probably does happen with Sami, Charlie, and Etta)

She joins the Justice League knowing that her friends will either die in battle or of old age, and she will never see them again

And the only people who share her longevity, her family, are barred for her forever because she chose to leave themyscira and can never return

No wonder Diana doesn’t smile in Batman Vs Superman. She’s endured half a century of loss and heartbreak, starting with the first man she ever loved. She’s tired
