being nonbinary is sick as fuck but sometimes there is also the isolation
it's something we think a lot about, this fact that the world just really doesn't accommodate for people that aren't Women or Men. there's an interview with sam smith (i think???) where they mention something about how they've just had to accept that people will always misgender them at first until corrected. and for us, even surrounded by people who care in a relatively safe environment, it still happens. we're used to it, but over and over, there's that assumption. if you're trans, you're the "opposite" of what you were assigned at birth. or you're basically just cisgender with a fun dash of side pronouns.
and, hell, sometimes we wish we were just a girl, just a guy, that we had a simple answer. that we didn't have to constantly be reminded that people will always see us as something we're not. that the answer was clear for us in how to navigate the world, legal/political hell aside.
and yet, even in good times, the concept of a gender neutral bathroom is still a punchline.
ever since i was a little girl i knew i wanted to have a deeply confusing and misunderstood relationship with gender
if you’re offline or away and i message you something (like a link to a meme or a picture or w/e) honestly just assume that i’m just leaving it there for when you get back and not expecting you to answer straight away. i don’t need you to respond with “hey, sorry, i wasn’t at the computer!” or anything. i was leaving u a gift for later.
This also applies if you’re online and just don’t want to or have the energy to deal with humans in the moment. Just because we have the ability to reply in real time does not mean we have the obligation.
im like a cat i drag the posts to ur doorstep and if ur not there it’s ok, the post will be on ur porch for later
ASYMMETRIC COMMUNICATION
This used to be all written communication. Once upon a time it took 3 months for a letter to get from Australia to England and another 3 months for a reply. Now my mother can send me memes instantaneously.
We have got too used too quickly to the idea that just because communication can be instantaneous, that that means it has to be.
im not a girl Unless ☝️ im being told to go piss
my niche version of "he would not fucking say that" is "he would not fucking carry that baby to term" for mpreg headcanons. sometimes there is power in recognizing that a fictional man WOULD get a mabortion
Somebody at work keeps adjusting one of the perimeter cameras to have this beautiful artistic angle on the museum in a historical building across the way. The sun sets just behind it and the whole sky turns golden-blue, clouds streaked across the sky above. The lush tree line beneath the museum is perfectly lined up along the rule of thirds and the building itself towers above, almost mythical in its evening glory. Like damn, take a still from this camera and send it to the museum to frame and hang on their wall. I do need the camera to be pointing at the parking lot. Tho
The setting sun bounces off the skyscrapers downtown and hits the museum's windows and every one of them turns the same golden hue as the sky behind, reflected in the trees just starting to turn golden-orange beneath. The bottoms of the clouds take on the slightest tinge of purple and birds circle above, speckling the evening sky as they call autumn's last farewell. Someone's car got broken into in the parking lot last week, Tammy, point the damn camera at the cars

Sweden ????
So Sweden used to give random citizens control over the official @Sweden Twitter account for like a day/week/month or whatever. As you can see why, it didn’t last long
what do you mean it didn't last long they did this for like seven years between 2011 and 2018 they didn't stop doing it because someone tweeted about cock sdfgsdfgsdfgsdf they kept doing it for four more years after this
”This portrayal of a marginalized group was wrong then and is wrong now” and “This portrayal of a marginalized group was very progressive for the time period and paved the way for more representation while likely limited by factors outside of the creator’s control” are two statements that can and should ABSOLUTELY coexist and be kept in mind when interacting with older media
Great example
