So to me, there are spoons (general energy cost) and carnival tickets (specific energy cost).

Spoons can be used pretty much anywhere.

Carnival tickets are only good for the carnival, and it’s only in town for a limited amount of time.

So like, if I get “kitchen cleaning” carnival tickets, I can’t use that to clean my bedroom, that’s not where the carnival is.

I feel so insane about ai. I've had face-to-face conversations with people who use it for therapy, who use it to calculate the safety of pill interactions, who use it for all their emails and grant applications and legal documents and academic papers and finance sheets and for every single question they have about the world, and if you tell them about the ecological costs they just laugh and say "I guess I've used a lot of water." and I've been in multiple gatherings of 10+ people where I'm THE ONLY PERSON who doesn't use chatgpt. it's turning me into a ranting raving pariah, because how don't you people see??? why don't you understand??????? this bullshit didn't exist five years ago, you absolutely do not need it, and it is destroying everything

Sultan the Pit Pony is a 200-meter-long, raised-earth sculpture made of 60,000 tonnes of coal shale in Caerphilly, South Wales. Designed by Welsh artist Mick Petts, the colossal work of art is known as the largest figurative earth sculpture in the United Kingdom.

More accurately, the real life Sultan the pit pony was the last pit pony to be brought up out of the Penallta Colliery when it closed. The earthwork uses spoil specifically from Penallta, and it was designed and named in Sultan’s honour as a tribute to all the equine workers of the South Wales coal belt

The real Sultan was a bit of a local celebrity, by all accounts, and in his retirement was taken around local horse shows as part of parades or opening ceremonies or what have you. So, when the art was designed, the locals and the artist both named it after him.

It’s very cool being there; it’s actually so big you can’t tell what it is from the ground. There are picnic benches in his nostril
