As the investigation was going underway, Ryu felt more and more light-headed. His head spun, and his vision would flash in and out. Above all else he could feel his stomach roll. Maybe it was the stale air of the basement or the emotional strain, but he had to puke. Peeling away from the group, Ryu ran down the small hallway, and to where they had found the bathroom, he kneels next to the toilet and vomits, feeling much better after he had cleared his stomach. He sat there near the toilet, waiting for his head to settle.
Almost at the same time, the lights in the hotel dimmed and flickered. The sound of clashing metal was audible once again, less so from the floor they were at. Monokuma pops up in a familiar fashion in front of the group of 4 students, āIām glad to see youāve had your fun snooping around down here.ā He said, āBut just because the lights went out for a bit, doesnāt mean youāre in the clear yet! Don't you know its so incredible rude to put your noses where it doesn't belong?" In sync with his words, the lights flicker and short out, leaving the students in the darkness once more, save for the glowing red of monokuma's eye, "Time for us to find out whodunnit! ITS TRIAL TIMEā

INVESTIGATION: SECTIONED OFF ROOM You finally decide to go to the sectioned off room. The windows are a thick glass, and the outside of the glass is covered with a clear, shiny plastic tarp. The tarp tucks in at a door with lots of mechanical things on it. You can see the inside of the room clearly. 7 cadavers line the ground, each mutilated in its own way. The body of the person you have yet to meet is in the back on a bed next to a nightstand. In the corner opposite side the bed was a workbench, various items covering it that you can clearly see through the plastic and glass. In fact, neither are particularly dirty, and you believe you can investigate this room without going inside.
The next room you visit is behind another wooden door in the main area. When you enter, there are innumerable monitors stacked on two walls up to the ceiling. Thereās a black rolling chair and various office supplies strewn across the little free countertop space.
Hyun was relatively shaken after⦠The Audioā¢, but she had to investigate. The room was smaller. She started with the moniters, checking out whatever was on them. She messed around with the free countertop space and its contents, clicking a few pens. The rolling chair was. Rolly. Spinny. @danganronpadespairmadness
The office supplies showed no potential other than pens to click anxiously.
However, for the first time you have an overview of the hotel. You can see every room you've visited, you're absolutely positive. 100% are there. But not all of the monitors have feed- A few are just static, like they lost connection. You check again- every single room you've been in with a camera is there. The hotel has full power, and nothing has changed since you've left.
TRUTH BULLETS!
SECURITY ROOM- There is security camera feed on the entirety of the hotel. Several camera appears to be broken, but you don't see any areas in the hotel that are missing feed.
INVESTIGATION: SECURITY OFFICE The next room you visit is behind another wooden door in the main area. When you enter, there are innumerable monitors stacked on two walls up to the ceiling. There's a black rolling chair and various office supplies strewn across the little free countertop space.
You decide to defy logical order after the main office, and continue down the hallway to another door. It leads to another, smaller hallway that you must go through one at a time. It goes on much longer than I care to make a map for, and leads to another metal door. It opens to a new, strange room.
The room has no windows or other doors. Thereās broken planks of wood, dented sheets of metal, and deteriorating insulation foam strewn everywhere. The far wall has a pile of that sort of crap against the wall, along with a few stone for good measure. No light goes through it, and a quick test decides that even as a unit you cannot move any of it.
That was not the most interesting thing about the room, however.
Variations of monokuma were shut off and lined up against the left wall. Most looked relatively unlike the one you know- they were a different animal, or had weird additions, or were half finished. One was even entirely white, and another entirely black. The lights on them are off, so you are relatively sure they wonāt spring to life. In the back right corner is one more monokuma, wires sticking out of it. Instead of a red eye, it has a white dot, but otherwise looks the closest to the familiar bear you know and love. It has an exposed button on it. [If pushed, this unlocks the AUDIO FILE posted last week]
Against the last wall is a workbench with various rusted tools littered across it, along with various robotic looking parts.
Ezraās attention was immediately drawn to the workbench-or, rather, the rust on it. It looked absolutely abandonedā¦but who had used these tools? And when? The machinery in this room looked pretty new, if unfinished. And they were all Monokumasā¦had whoever trapped them done this? If so, were they close to actually finding them?
He briefly detached from Hyun, tapping her arm gently and pointing to where he was going. He didnāt want to be an anchor on her and keep her from exploring, but he was also determined not to let her out of his line of sight. Or any of them, for that matter. They needed to stay together, to stay safe.
He gingerly shifted through the tools on the bench, examining the parts and seeing if he could identify them. This isā¦weird.Ā
The tools appear to not be particularly old despite their rust- just like they were subject to severe mistreatment. The same can be said for everything in the room: itās not old at all, maybe a year or two at most, but still seems to have been ravaged by something. Another thing that catches your eye is a dirty monokuma eye. Once you wipe it, you can see the glass is tinted red and has even rings on top. On the back is something your monokuma does not have- A neat heart is engraved into it. The line of it is shallow, and there are no other oddities on the spare eye. TRUTH BULLETS: NEW TRUTH BULLET! RUSTED TOOLS- The tools on the workbench appear to be rusty but not old. NEW TRUTH BULLET! GLASS EYE- A spare monokuma eye engraved with a heart was found on the workbench in the monokuma room. @shslcartographxr
āHuh,ā Ezra stared at the glass eye for a moment, wondering who would take the time to add such a cutesy little detail, before slipping it into his pocket for later. He could show it to Hyun in a second, after she was done messing with the bears in the corner.
He drifted away from the rusted tools and towards the pile of debri, leaning down to try to dig through it as much as he could. Maybe there was something useful hidden in here?
His search was halted at the static suddenly coming from Hyunās direction, and he whipped around, terrified something had gone wrong. But it was just one of the inactive Monokumas, playing audio that wasā¦confusing. And terrifying. Ezra had the distinctive feeling they were never meant to find this, but they were always supposed to hear it.
His first thought was that maybe it was fake, but he dismissed that as soon as it entered his brain. This was undoubtedly themā¦.their class. Together. Happy. Ezra couldnāt reconcile some of the relaxed voices on there with the people he knew they belonged to, let alone his own. He found himself standing next to Hyun, although he didnāt remember moving. He only realized he was shaking when she reached over to grab his hand as they all stood in silence and listened.
He knew this was a revelation, that they all had seemingly worked together to create Monokuma forā¦some reason, but he didnāt want to think about that just yet. It wasnāt the trial, there were no points to be made. There certainly wasnāt time to grieve for people he would never know, but he couldnāt bring himself to move until the audio had played out in its entirety. None of them could.
Take care of them, Monokuma.
āHe. Didnāt do the best. Job of that, did. He?ā Ezra mumbled without thinking, and then jumped at the sound of his own voice not on recording. Embarrassed, he recovered by reaching down to brush dust off of the dilapidated Monokuma. That voiceā¦he didnāt recognize them. Could it be the girl whoās death they were currently investigating? And what did she have to do with this project?
The rubble cannot be moved, literally none of it. It appears to be an airtight barrier against whatever lies past it. Your common sense tells you there's a door back there, but you have no way of knowing if it's out or to more rooms like this one.
TRUTH BULLETS
NEW TRUTH BULLET! RUBBLE- A door at the back of the monokuma room has so much rubble in front of it you cannot get to it, and all five of you cannot lift any the rubble.

Haruki looked up, biting his lip as he finished scanning over the papers. They were all the same basic concept: detailing every aspect of these studentsā daily lives. For days⦠and days. Had it really been six months since they arrived here?Ā
The days all seemed to blur together.
Who could have done this?
Haruki grabbed a few of the papers and put them in his wheelchair bag, then snatched another sheet as an example before heading over to Hyun and Ezra.
āHey⦠guys⦠what did you find?ā Harukiās eyebrows creased, obviously intent on getting SOME sort of answers. The feeling in the pit of his gut⦠said that things were reaching their climax.
After his classmates told him about their findings and Haruki shared his own, Haruki nodded gravely, fiddling with his now-bare fingers. He drew in a deep breath.Ā āWell⦠letās move on for now.ā Gesturing to the odd bulletin board on the wall with a jerk of his head, Haruki urged the others to move closer. He rolled toward the board to get a better view.Ā āā¦.ā
The papers were creepy, but the bulletin board was perhaps more distrubing.
Sixteen profiles hung up. One for each student. They listed the name, talent, physical information, interests, blood type, and other information crammed onto one page. Information that the school couldn't have, but someone who knew everyone well would.
The thing about them that was so disturbing was not the information, however. Every profile had a pink X over the picture, and beneath had a stamped on word. "Deceased". No matter the actual status of the person depicted, they were dead by this record.
Two other things strike you as important: there's a spot for another profile, but only a thumbtack with a small shred of paper on it remains. A different profile contains information you did not think you'd ever have. Underneath artemis' name was her talent, despite her never saying hers. In black ink, there it was: "ARTEMIS THRONE: SUPER HIGH SCHOOL LEVEL FURRY".
TRUTH BULLET:- PROFILE FILES: There are sixteen files of the class with their name, talent, physical information. Every single one says that the student depicted is dead.
The corner of the cluttered room, lying against the chipping walls, was a familiar looking robot. Although similar in design to the robotic bear that had terrorized the class for months, there was small differences. The bearās stomach had been opened up, and inside loose wires sparked around a small device similar in nature to a tape recorder. On it read āAudioā with a small heart drawn in.
There was a button with a small triangle into indicate play, and when hit, the familiar voice of class 65 flooded through the small room. It almost sounded like the classmates were alive and laughing together in person, if not for the harsh beeping to indicate one track switching to the next. There wasnāt a single Ā time that the 16 students were able to just sit and enjoy one otherās company, but the small recording gave a glimpse to a time before the hotel life of mutual killing
NEW TRUTH BULLET: AUDIO FILES
Inside of a monokuma are audio files of the 16 classmates talking and ārecording.ā At the end is an unknown voice
Ā [Transcript under the cut]
Orochi as monokuma: Hello Students! Welcome to your official school life! Iām here to be helping you with your everyday activities, enriching your academic life and sucking a big fat di- whaāKyoji!
Haruki: Wow. Stick to the script Orochi. No add-libbing.
Orochi: I-It was written right here! I swear!
Kyoji: It wasnāt my idea⦠Entirely. Noriko came up with it!
Orochi: Well now I have to start my lines all over again.
Ryu: Oh please, you know they didnāt prepare any real lines.
Kyoji: How would you know?
Akira: He saw me vandalize it.
Ryu: Yeah
Orochi: What?
Akira: You could say we collab-ed on the hilarious content.
Addy: So all the dick jokes?
Akira: Exactly the dick jokes
Haruki: More emotion this time. We want to know HOW you sucked the di--
Orochi: S-Stop it!
Noriko: So should I stop recording this?
Ryu: Well I mean I guess, we didnāt get anything done. Weāll do take two tomorrow.
Addy: Well I think we should keep the recording anyway!
Orochi: But we arenāt using it, right?
Haruki: Uhhhhhh yeah. Sure. Of course not.
---
Ezra: Oh shit!
Hyun: Oh no! We werenāt recording. Iām so sorry Rinko!
Rinko: Itās okay! Weāll pretend that was my practice reel.
Ezra: Are you sure youāre fine with doing it again? One of us could take the wheel from here
Rinko: Oh no, Iām sure I can do it. Ā
Hyun: You have been working on it for a while, itās important to take rests and not strain yourself.
Rinko: Itās okay, Iām a movie star! Besides, Iām having fun!
---
Addy: Hi! My nameās Monokuma and welcome to jackass.
Hoshiko: Mon dieu, that reference is so outdated, mon amour.
Addy: Oh, really? I thought it was good.
Hoshiko: I guess it was pretty funny.
Addy: Hey, Hoshiko, what does Mon Dieu mean?
Hoshiko: Oh it means like My god, like a surprised expression. Like āOmg!ā
Addy: Huh! Thatās pretty neat! So if mon is āmyā well what does amour mean?
Hoshiko: Uhmā¦
Addy: Like.. Iām sure Iāve heard it used before but I wanted to ask you...
Hoshiko: Well uh-
Addy: Hey doesnāt the red light mean itās recording
---
Kyoji: Oh come on, say it
Katsumi: Hell no, it sounds cheesy.
Shujin: Someoneās gotta read the script, and Iām ill fit to.
Katsumi: Wasnāt this Orochiās job? Get him back on that.
Rinko: Heās been reading the rest of them, Itās someone elseās turn.
Hyun: We had to give him at least a small break.
Takehiko: I can try my hand at it.
Katsumi: Oh yeah, go for i
Takehiko: You⦠seem in need.. Of help!
Shujin: That doesnāt sound natural. Try not relying so much on reading as you speak.
Kyoji: Well he has to read. I mean I didnāt write the script for him to not read it.
Akemi: You know what he meant.
Takehiko: You seem in need of help! Would you like me to assist you?
Katsumi: Thatās great!
Hyun: Iām so proud of all of us!
Kyoji: Weāre coming along so nicely with this.
---
Akemi: Itās a great idea having other languages here. So we can all give commands to Monokuma⦠ Even though we all speak a common language.
Hoshiko: Well itās fun to make
Akemi: Thatās the point.
Hoshiko: Hold on itās still recording, Portatemi un-
Sound of door slamming open
Ryu in background: Life is shit! I hate everything
Akemi: Weāre recording!
Hoshiko: Portatemi un po-
Ryu: Portatemi un your asses to come and sit because I have to complain.
Ezra: Uh⦠Uh Hi? Is this thing on? (taps mic) Okay uhm āIām a funky disco bear and I donāt need no manā
Ryu from far away: What the fuck are you guys doing?
Haruki entered with Ryu: I heard vore.
Ezra: We were justā¦
Ryu: No what the fuck iām playing it back.
[repeat akira and ezraās lines]
Ryu: Unbe-fucking-lievable.
Haruki: I mean, honestly, Iām impressed.
Ezra: Iām so incredibly sorry Ryu, weāll just leave
Ryu: No this is some god damn comedy gold. Iām totally putting this in there.
--
Ryu: No come on, anywhere in the world.
Haruki: Well⦠God, I donāt know⦠Maybe⦠the ocean I guess. I--know itās ridiculous.
Ryu: No, itās definitely not ridiculous, but why the ocean?
Haruki: Well⦠My sister and I were going to go when I was younger. But I had an accident, and ever since then Iāve never got the chance. Itās⦠harder now, I guess. But I⦠still want to go. Experience it⦠How about you? Where would you go?
Ryu: Iām not even sure where Iād go. Iāve never really travelled at all because i used to be⦠not rich. Iāll say the ocean too.
Haruki: Haha so Why would you want to go to the ocean?
Ryu: Well⦠Then we can go together.
Haruki: Mm⦠Iād like that.
Haruki: Wait-- Oh shit! Ryu, is that recording again?
Ryu: Uh⦠maybe, I donāt know.
Haruki: God, Iām turning it off-
---
Orochi: Okay final recording, We only have three lines left. Ā I would like to thank all of you for your help. Rinko and I had to do most of it because you all goofed off with the lines. So thank you so much Rinko!
Haruki: You mispronounced āImproved the linesā.
Shujin: No, we were all almost entirely goofing off.
Ryu: Says you.
Orochi: Says me too. We needed to get this done a while ago, and in order to do that we needed everyoneās help. And I mean we were all bound to have fun with it.
Shujin: Yeah, we all definitely had our fun, but this is something that needs to be finished. I mean, weāve been working on it for a while and itād be great to see it finally completed, can have more fun afterwards.
Artemis: Heās right.
Ryu: Well then we didnāt need to make it super complicated. Couldnāt we have just made it the most fucking basic shit I mean, if youāre going to be the fun police about it. This isnāt an entirely serious project in case you didnāt pick up on that.
Haruki: They arenāt trying to be hostile, Ryu.
Ryu: ⦠Right⦠i know
Hyun: Three lines isnāt a big deal! We can get it done in no time.
Hyun was still hanging on to Ezraās arm. She shifted her hand down so it was holding his. She gave it a tight squeeze, like a kindergardener scared to cross the street. Guess thatās pretty accurate to how Iām feeling. She was drawn to the plate of baked goods almost immediately. She hadnāt baked since-
Well.
She tugged Ezra over, him taking notice in the picture frame. She picked up a cookie, sort of feeling the bottom and tapping around the sides. She could tell how long the cookie had been sitting there just by using temperature and staleness, though because of the. Incident. She was out of practice.
@danganronpadespairmadness
The cookie appeared to not be stale, but was room temperature, and felt as if it had been there for some time. Your heightened baking sense and average analysis abilities tell you this is an oatmeal raisin cookie. But what draws your attention more is the powder on it and the plate- it was white and too coarse to be sugar. It appeared to be ground up something, but just by looking at it you're not sure what. TRUTH BULLET: POWDER- There is a plate of oatmeal raisin cookies in the main office with unidentified white powder on them and more spilled onto the plate. @shsl-crocker
Hyunās attention was drawn to something on the desk, and as she didnāt let go of his hand, Ezra was unwittingly dragged over there as well. Not that he minded. His brain was elsewhere, still trying to piece together the fact that they were investigating the murder of someone they had never seen before. Unless they had? There was always the possibility she had been erased with their other memories, but thenā¦why?
He shook himself from his thoughts, reminding himself that they were currently trying to figure out why and he should probably help. He looked down at the picture frame on the desk in front of him and picked it up, examining the frame and the photo inside. Was this a sentimental picture, or something else?
You hold the wooden frame and look at the picture it holds. It appeared to be a yearbook photo of the class. You see all your friends in their hope's peak uniforms, though you have no memory of this photo. You all are smiling innocently, unaware of the fate of most of the class. In the center is a girl with purple hair you now recognize as the student found dead in the sectioned off room. She looks carefree and has the warmest smile you've ever seen, so much so that you can feel her joy radiating out even from the photo. TRUTH BULLET: CLASS PICTURE- There's a picture of the whole class with the dead body found in the main office. @shslcartographxr
Harukiās eyes widened and he drew in a deep breath as they entered the office.Ā
It was messyāthe floor was scattered with thin sheets of paper. A plate was left out on the desk, and a small picture frame sat nearby. A sort of bulletin board was on the wall. He wanted to take a closer look soon, but for nowā¦
He slowly clenched his hand into a fist, steeling himself before moving further into the room. Then, bending down, Haruki drew a sheet of paper off the floor with deft fingers.
āGuys⦠Iā¦ā He stiffened, back facing the others as he saw what was on the paper. He straightened up in his chair. āWhatā¦?ā
The paper off the floor had words in typewriter font on it. "136: Rinko hung out with Hyun today. Akemi and Ryu had lunch together. Orochi spent the day in his room." It went on to describe the activities of all the students who were presumably alive when it was recorded. All the other papers were much the same, but with different numbers and various numbers of students mentioned. TRUTH BULLET: ACTIVITY LOGS- Across the floor of the main office were pages upon pages of reports of the daily activities of students. @un-luckster
