Tumblr Assignment 11
Tumblr Assignment 11: Work through at least one of the tutorials from the links below on InDesign and write a paragraph about what you learned. (Note: This isn't busy work, this is to show you all the free resources that are available, and to get you accustomed to learning on your own.)

I did the tutorial above because I wanted to learn how to make "page" turn in InDesign. The tutorial above concluded you could make page turns options, but only if you export as a swf.
So I searched deeper and watch this tutorial that helped me find a way around this problem.

Polish School of Posters.
These 4 contemporary CYRK posters above were first created in 1962, when the Polish state circus agency commissioned leading artists to develop a modern approach to the circus poster.
Bear in tuxedo – Waldemar Swierzy, 1974 I've got this one - definitely one of my favorite CYRK posters - not long ago. Its a very rare piece, printed in 1974 and I believe I was lucky to stumble upon it, since its a highly coveted print. The designer, Waldemar Swierzy was born in 1931 in Katowice. He's a graduate of the Cracow Academy of Fine Arts (Dept. of Graphic Art in Katowice), designed his first poster in 1950 and obtained his diploma in 1952. Specializes in poster and all forms of commercial graphic, with a very prolific career. He had individual shows in Vienna, Moscow, Poznań, Sao Paulo, Caracas, Wrocław. Works as professor at Poznań Academy of Fine Arts.

So this is what my tuition dollars are going toward? #therentistoodamhigh
No... YES!
The Ascent of Money: A PBS Financial History of the World
This has nothing to do directly with design, but I thought I'd mix it up because I wanted to watch this.
Interesting accessories for iPhones? I think sticking with a DSLR is still the best way. The small pieces look like fun, but I would definitely loose them.
Thankful.
Tumblr Assignment 11: Find an interface that you use everyday that frustrates you.
Left nob (POWER SYMBOL) Push=on/off Turning=adjust volume
Right nob (MUSIC SYMBOL) Turning= change song/station
I constantly find myself trying to quickly turn down the music, but instead I change the radio station? Whoopsies, Don't you think the music symbol would better depict volume?
Ps. The GPS systems suck too!
Bob and Roberta Smith Love 2012. Bob and Roberta Smith use the immediacy of language to create hand-painted signs on pieces of found wood. These signs - painted in the style of community action banners, street signs, and fun fair posters - relay direct and often humorous messages. Taking the values of the Paralympic Games as a starting point, Bob and Roberta Smith propose the core elements of the athlete experience: courage, inspiration, love, and of course
Bridget Riley Rose Rose. Bridget Riley is one of the most original painters of our time and is celebrated for her optically vibrant paintings. By manipulating relationships between colours and shapes, she creates illusions of movement and light. For her Olympic print, Riley has arranged colours in horizontal stripes, indicating the direction of athletic tracks or swimming lanes. The relationships between the colours create a sensation of movement capturing the energy of sport and the Olympic Games.
This is the website that allows students to book study rooms on campus. The interface is poorly designed because it is too confusing to know which rooms are actually available.
This interface would be easier to understand it they installed a calendar system. This would make the time and date availability clearer. Green could indicate the days and times each room within Norlin are available. Red could indicate that the room is taken. Each building should have a different site, so the intrusions would not be come complicated.
