“I know you are,” Velma says quietly. “You’re good at a lot of stuff, Daphne. Like…being the distraction. It’s a critical role to play. You probably put yourself at risk ten times more than any of us. Without you we would be screwed. And just because you play the damsel, doesn’t mean your weak or helpless. It just means you’re the bravest one out of all of us.” Velma didn’t like that Daphne was upset, but they didn’t think Daphne was just a pretty side piece to the gang. She was far from it. “A Halloween cake sounds good to me.”
“Do you think that he’ll ever see me as anything more than just a pretty face?” The girl’s smile dropped, her eyes going to her friend. She hadn’t really spoken about her true feelings on the subject but it was starting to hurt more than she thought. “You really think so? Then why does it feel like I’m just like the extra. You’re the smart one, Fred thinks of the traps, Shaggy and Scooby are the decoys... Then there’s just me.” She exhaled heavily. Daphne tried to shake the negativity from her head and keep her thoughts on the cake. “Yeah, that’s what we’ll do.”
