When Christ was on the coasts of Tyre and Sidon, a woman came and cried out to Him, saying, ‘Have mercy on me, O Lord, Son of David! My daughter is severely demon-possessed” (Matthew 15:22). Jesus didn’t answer the woman right away and the disciples even urged Him to send her away so she would stop bothering Him (15:23). But the woman wouldn’t leave because her daughter’s condition was a matter of life and death to her. She wasn’t going to relent in her pursuit of Jesus and the Lord commended her for it: “‘O woman, great is your faith! Let it be to you as you desire.’ And her daughter was healed from that very hour” (15:28). We have been promised all the grace and mercy we need for our crises. We have been invited to come boldly to Christ’s throne with confidence! Let us go to Him and plead for our loved ones. The Lord who sees our cries will do mighty things for us.

Pitfalls are inevitable on our journey through life, but we need not be dismayed. Proverbs 24:16 states, “For though he falls seven times, he will get up again; it’s the wicked who fail under stress.” We will rise again from our defeat. None of our struggles are wasted. God will use them for our good, and His glory (Romans 8:28). No matter how deep we may slide, His hand is strong enough to save and deliver us. We are encouraged, “though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down; for the Lord uphold him by His hand” (Psalm 37:24). As we reach up for His extended hands of love, the power of Cross, the precious blood of Christ will wash all stains of sin and failure away.

Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, and to make you stand in the presence of His glory blameless with great joy.(Jude 24) No matter what type of fall we may take as a result of foe, as we put our hope in God, we can be assured that He will light up our path onward to victory. “Do not rejoice over me, my enemy; when I fall I will arise; when I sit in darkness, the Lord will be a light to me.” Micah 7:8
