“You can, you should, and if you’re brave enough to start, you will.”
— Stephen King; On Writing
“People think being alone makes you lonely, but I don’t think that’s true. Being surrounded by the wrong people is the loneliest thing in the world.”
— Kim Culbertson
“Opinion is really the lowest form of human knowledge. It requires no accountability, no understanding. The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another’s world. It requires profound purpose larger than the self kind of understanding.”
— Plato
“Do I not destroy my enemies when I make them my friends?”
— Abraham Lincoln
Can’t wait to do this
she asked me if i believed in god and i told her that when i was four i almost drowned in a public pool and in my panic mistook a stranger for my father. i clawed my way up his leg. four years later he’d send my parents a picture of the scars alongside a tin of cookies. he said, “i hope she’s still okay. i carry her with me. it isn’t every day you save a life. it isn’t every day you feel like you were here for a reason. when it does happen, you have to cherish that memory. for once, i had a purpose. just being there was enough. she tore me open but she taught me a lot about love.”
they will never stop me from appreciating the little things in life
Parents (when their child is young): "I know everything. You must obey my every command. The tiniest amount of doubt toward me is considered so disrespectful that I'm justified in hitting you for it.
Parents (when their child is grown): "Please forgive me. I'm only human. There's a lot I didn't know. I tried my best."
If I am having a conversation with someone and I feel myself getting aggressive, dominant, controlling, defensive etc, I know that they are the wrong person to have around me. The way I feel in someones presence is the biggest indicator of whether they align with me or not
Gonna get my funny n my money up by making cute checks my primary form of payment…
“Human beings can withstand a week without water, two weeks without food, many years of homelessness, but not loneliness. It is the worst of all tortures, the worst of all sufferings.”
