Secret 7 Submission idea for The Jam - Art School.
The idea was that I listed all the artists that are repeatedly taught to you at school, the ones which are always mentioned. Then I made a photomontage of the three which I can be remember being exposed to the most. Andy Warhol. Jackson Pollock and Van Gogh.
Its a play on the songs title and nothing really to do with the song but I like the outcome.

Some mock ups for instagram and Facebook, using the same pattern and alternating the logo colour.
I will be sending this mock up to Shahina and if everything is approved il ask if she wants some stuff printing, originally she just wanted a logo and some social media graphics but I think this would be a nice added touch to her online orders etc. Building up a corporate identity across a few different platforms.
Taking the brand guidelines I started mocking up letterheads. I think the middle is my favourite. Composition is balanced and the pattern works better in this orientation.
Brand guidelines for Shahina’s Cushions. I decided on a colour palette and swatched pantones so if Shahina wants anything printed I can communicate with the printer easily.
Found this really informative infographic on social media dimensions for 2016. This will be really helpful when it comes to designing stuff for Shahina’s Instagram and Facebook.
I continued to develop patterns using a variety of different styles. Now the sewing machine is incorporated into the logo I can be more artistic and interesting with the pattern. I wanted to use a brush that was rough and translated the handmade element of the business.
After going through ten million colour options I have decided on the bottom three. The salmon/pink and the blue contrast but the pastel emollient keeps it soft and pleasant. A feeling id like to provoke in handmade products.
I started playing around with the logo again, trying out different colour options. Shahina really wanted a sewing machine incorporated and I added this in the above image. I think it works quite well, it doesn't detract from the type.
I started experimenting with the logo on the pattern work and other backgrounds/effects. I still need to define a style before continuing.
I started working on some pattern work with the sewing machines I had developed on Illustrator. I thought they could work well along side the logo and with brand guidelines. Be nice addition to any letterheads of printed material.
Took some of my sketches into illustrator, using a wacom I played around with the type. I sent these to Shahina as I was developing them and she was really happy with the top right. Because of this I went with it and spend less time developing my alternative. Perfect Client!
I started drawing up some ideas for the logo, with the knowledge it had to be script this limited me. Getting the style of script I wanted was challenging. I also played around with including a sewing machine in the logo.

Promote products as “gifts”. Sell products at local craft fairs and markets if possible. Market to possible secondary targets: 18-24 year old women or those who sell their own handmade goods. The latter could be reached through marketing messages that appeal to their sense of community (e.g. through social media or support networks like Etsy groups).”
Spent a long time looking at handwritten typefaces.
Decided to try and do the logo myself. As I don’t particularly like any I have seen. However they have given me great ideas for imagery for the social media
Really like the watercolour touch to this branding. Could work for Shahina.
