Signily: ASL Keyboard app
Signily is a really neat keyboard app that lets you type many common ASL signs as images or gifs, in both left and right hands, and in several skin tones.
It’s currently for iOS, with Android support on the way, and they’re using gifs because Unicode does not support handshape characters beyond a few basic ones like thumbs-up and okay, let alone the moving images that are important for some signs. The gifs are a clever workaround for the moment, but hopefully later versions of Unicode will support a larger inventory of handshapes, which is also something the Signily developers are advocating for. More information and demonstrations of how it works on Signily’s website.

claustrophobia
First both hands make the “5 “ hand shape with palms facing inwards and fingers horizontal and move these hands towards each other twice with fingers always a few inches from the other hand’s fingers. Then both of the hands make “Bent Open B/ Closed Bent 5″ shapes with palms facing each other with the dominant hand above the non-dominant hand as if the dominant hand and the top of the fingers of the non-dominant hand are making a rectangle. Then the hands make “Open B/ Closed 5″ hand shapes with palms facing each other and fingers directed outwards and then switch back to the previous position with the “Bent Open B/ Clossed Bent 5″s. While making these shapes with your hands, make sure that your facial expression and posture reflect the discomfort/anxiety that claustrophobia induces.

After starting to get some more ideas of where I could go with my project, I started off by videoing the most simple yet meaningful parts of our body - which I believe is our hands. We use our hands to express so much especially feelings/emotion, hand gestures, hand signals and using our hands for even words.
So I wanted to start off with how the hands can somehow be compatible with each other when they belong to two separate people, how they move and how they respond back and forth to each other.
I also liked the idea of having two films playing at the same time to portray how ongoing touch/feel really is.
